1. Many thanks, I'll check when I'm back at home this evening.
  2.
Covers arrived today - they are the genuine article (or a very good forgery otherwise) - embossed TE logo, heavy duty vinyl covers - if you own a TE I'd recommend contacting the seller to get what you need.
I don't suppose you have any of the AH600/1200 head covers amongst them do you?
  3. Well, rightly or wrongly I went for it and was lucky enough to pick up an AH600-12 at a very good price tonight. I'll let you know my thoughts once I've picked it up and given it a blast 😜
  4.
I'd be inclined to go fully to 5s D. I've had this problem over the years, could never mix the use of 4 and 5s, I'd be playing along quite happily on a 5 then I'd have a brain dump and wonder where I was.... In the end I stuck with 4s as I only very occasionally need anything lower than an E and I'm happy to detune for the odd song. Also I love my current 4s and wouldn't want to change em.
Well after a few weeks of concentrating on 5's, I think it was the right way to go Mart. Just feels instantly comfortable now 👍

    .-.

Beautiful basses, I picked one up at Christmas. Look great, play great, sound great. An awful lot of bass for the money! GLWTS
  6.
If you feel that you need more power/wattage I'd hang on till I could find an earlier, British built, model and spend a few bob getting it serviced. My local Amp Tech charged me £80 odd for a full repair and service (loose bolt securing a module to the chassis).
I do love the old amps and I've had numerous heads and combos including several SMX's and a Hexavalve. To be honest I don't think you can top the GP12 SMX models for usable features. That's why I'd like to try one of the later models because, although different to the SMX, they have some bells and whistles that the other older heads just don't have. PS it's certainly not that I need more power, my 250 through a BF 2 x 12 would wipe the floor with most things
  7.
If I could find another manufacturer that gave me the same sound but from a new product I'd buy that. Let's see what the new Trace Elliot comes up with.
+1 to that. Thanks for your thoughts on the 600.
  8.
Just throwing a cat amongst the pigeons..
Haha, I'm all for difference of opinion. Keep them coming! I think the AH500-12 would be overkill for me. I do like the 2U size (I've had 350 and 600 SMX's in the past and always went back to the 250 as it had all the features I needed without the bulk).
  9. Hi all Just wanting to pick the brains of the Trace loving fraternity here. I've had several Trace amps and combos and currently have an AH250SMX (which I love to bits) and also a Series 6 1215 combo. I'm looking to add to these and would like to try one of the later 12 band models, either an AH300-12 or the later AH600-12. Just wondering what people's thoughts are on these? Pros and cons of the features on each (and that particular generation) etc. I've read that there were some reliability issues with the AH600-12 but I'm also sure that they must be a great used bargain now (crazy prices when new). I also know that there are at least a couple of players on here who love their AH300-12 heads. Any thoughts or opinions would be gratefully received.
  10. Sold an amp to Fello. Great communication throughout and prompt payment. Top fella, trade with confidence 👍
  11.
From my experience The ABMS stuff is built like a tank .
It may have been just a bad experience with the one I tried, but honestly I thought a good draught could have turned the knobs.
  12.
True, but, generally speaking, 200 Class D watts are not the same as a traditional 200 watts. Ill say with some confidence that this new amp will not get close to the volume of older 200w Trace heads.
My thoughts exactly. I love Trace and I really hope they're going to be bringing out some 'bigger' units but unless they have developed some amazing new tech, Trace are going to be using the same technology that every other class d manufacturer is using. As such, it'll have the same limitations that every other amp of that ilk has. They certainly won't be able to replicate the 'Trace watts' that we know and love in a package of that size.
  13. A pair of GK rack Ears to suit the MB range of heads. The colour of this particular pair matches the Fusion heads, but they will fit the standard MB 500 and 800 heads too. £20 posted to mainland UK Cheers
  14. 🤔 hmmm. I'm a bit of an old Trace nut, but I'm intrigued by these after reading some reviews. I know there's some historical link between the two companies (personnel etc), but my only experience of using an Ashdown was not a pleasant one. I felt that the general feel of the build quality was poor and the actual sound was somewhere between muddy and mush. That was however a good few years ago and to be fair I didn't spend a great deal of time messing with the settings. Perhaps I need to revisit and reevaluate these heads with an open mind.
  15.
I love these basses and Harry was such a huge influence in my formative years
Yeah me too. A proper legend. Saturday Bump 🥊 Hit me with any trade offers, I can only say no. TE based trades are always of interest, particularly an AH300-12 or AH600-12
  16. I wish I lived near Cheltenham. Great cabs and a very generous offer. Top man sir!
  17. Hi all Well I've only had this a couple of months, tried it again tonight but it's just not for me. Truth be told, any amp that isn't an old TE isn't for me and I think I'm finally accepting that 😂. It was purchased from this parish, is in mint condition and comes complete with the original box, the GK padded carry bag and original foot switch. All the specs are here: http://www.gallien-krueger.com/mb-fusion-500-specs/ Ideally looking for a sale, but may be tempted in a trade involving something old and green that says Trace Elliot on it. Based in South Yorkshire (I also have the rack ears to go with this for an additional £20 ;-)
  18.
If I could justify having another one of these I'd buy it as I have a spare spb1 to go with. Have a bump on me.
Cheers 😜 Will post to U.K. buyers at buyers expense
  19. Just sold a cab to Karl. As before, great communication throughout. Deal made, time and a place for a meet up agreed and a good old natter about all things bass ensued! A top fella. All the best Karl, until we meet again 😉
