7. QUOTE (OzMike @ Mar 13 2011, 05:04 AM) If you haven't listened to the (IMHO) classic and tasteful use of the technique, and 'hate it', then it's a matter of not being educated and informed.
Ha ha ha ha...love it,
He's most likley gonna get his head shot off for that INCOMING!!

"big long strides in the opposite direction" is what I'd say
 11.
I just bought another MKV Trace Elliot 1518 off eBay! This now means I'll have THREE MKV TE cabs - 1x1048 and 2x1518. The last MKV 1518 I bought had the original 15" 200watt Celestion driver replaced with a 15" 400watt Celestion driver. (not a bad thing!) THEN I find ANOTHER MKV 1518, this time 100% original, on ebay with a starting price of £50 (I got it for £70 all-in) I now all I need to do is hide this new one from the missus once it arrives, then find out which one sounds better coupled with the 1048 and my amp head then maybe sell the spare one! Or maybe I'll just keep it! I love old school Trace gear!
couldnt agree more about the old trace stuff, put my (old) gear on "rigs at gigs" thread the other day but the new gear"ists" not impressed!
 12.
No you're not alone, I don't like them either but I am polite and would never diss someone else's choice. However my approach to a mellower darker sound takes roots in the complete opposite direction, I only play round strings so how do I achieve that dark tone and mellow sound? I use my Mark Bass VLE Filter (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator) cranked all the way to the right, and it works very well for me.
Don't take me TOO seriously, MR Wazz, yours politely Witterth
 13. Allready posted but thought I'd share it here too!!

 15.
I wonder what David Cameron thinks about Peter Hook
Bit of a "Theme" for you recenty eh? Crez?

 18. Thanks MB1 Yep he may be.... but will only be intrerested in a pukka 4x10 at a £90 ish fee, if its not too tatty/ & late 80s. thing is,I saw a lovely, newer cab for less (in the scheme of things) a few weeks ago and nearly got it, but it was so new it wasnt happening, at right price. 90s stuff is a bit pricey despite being good being with tweeter loaded in it I suppose pics...? out of the question? lets have a look,I could collect, but this week Only (1/2 term) lets see, lemme know John
 19.
That's the great thing about playing La Bella flats mate, I've had the same sets on for years, and they sound better than when i first put them on! Couldn't ever go back to playing rounds and having to change them every few weeks 'cos they didn't intone any more. C
Flats? schmats! I hate flats. (jokes about "apartments/bungalows" need not apply) discuss....
 20. I think Groucho said of Gerald Ford he "couldnt chew gum and walk at the same time" but its true, singing and bass playing is tough because you have to have two different beats in your mind at the same time, and thats why (save the jokes) Drummers are good at it....I know ,but really! they are. I can do it, but have to practice a lot, and look to the singer to make sure I'm not going "rargar"
 21.
Your best indication is to record the gig with a single mic in the audience and then you can hear how your sound compares to the other bassists'. Listening to your drummer playing your rig won't really tell you anything - the player is a far larger variable than any of the equipment.
MMMmmm lose the fender and buy a stingray thats the thing, you're a good player with good gear (lose the weak link) you just never heard it before!! only what I think, and all that!
 22. 24. Anything by Oasis by was Bass biz , Or as Tony Moreneo called them "Owazzis" "Get Back"... though, if you dont often play with a pick( which I dont personally) check out Macca on the apple roof top gig. that "two note 'pleccy strum thing" staying in A mainly ....good fun, and if you do it right, ignoring a thousand badly played versions previously...well, now, you know what was wrong!! HA!
 25. First Bass Owned:Precision copy (honer) 'Go To' Bass:Musicman stingray 'Your' Bass:Status 2000
