hello everyone...Aren't you nice...Apart from all sharing that one book! I'm not playing for Roxy because I upset Bryan by smashing a Bass on the last night of his 2007 tour in New Zealand.. Cheers
good god, is that really you Guy?? even if not you played for roxy? were not worthy! what did you smash? and why? (wish you'd done it over Frerrys very large head btw Ha ha!!) oh go on tell us!!
If anything, taking the DI out before the amp will actually work to your advantage -- then the sound engineer can EQ the sound exactly as he needs it to be, without having to fight your amp EQ or deal with any compression you may have applied. Then you can use your amp EQ and comp/noise-gate to precisely tailor your on-stage sound, and let the engineer deal with FOH. Sorted!
That would work, good advice, but then a lot of live engineers do bugg£r all after the soundcheck, other than put on a Ipod playlist and mess about with their bloody 'phone. after you've most likley, bought them a beer as well.
Anything with a fan drags dust right through. That's pretty much what you get with a so-called 'service'. A conventional vac with a soft brush used carefully will be fine (if there's something loose to suck up then you have worse problems!). I'm not too familiar with Trace stuff (even though I've got one) but you might be lucky enough to find that replacing the fan involves four screws and a plug on the circuit board (if it needs replaced).
Thanks for that PB!! its an old one so Im worried it'll be dear! mind you it was serviced in feb (reliable engineer too)so maybe not fingers Xd

Opportunity to buy Gewa fully carved bass
witterth replied to BigBeatNut's topic in EUB and Double Bass
I'd be really carefull of anything with cracks, any where, (and I know that sounds obvious) I had mine reparied by a VERY respectable violin maker and hes told me never to tune it up to concert pitch, again. Now, it was a major repair he did, but if someone of this guys standard cant make garantees I'd be very beware. sorry to be a downer but at the end of the day there are lots out there, and for a grand you'll get something ok (mine was never worth that much anyway, and is really just a pleasing ornament now) Is it a 3/4 btw? -
The fan is a mechanical thing and can (and eventually will) fail. Sometimes they can just be packed with dust and it might be worth a quick going over with the vacuum cleaner. If in doubt, get it replaced as an efficient fan is rather important!
what just a normal "dyson" type vac out? Bob? any ideas how much a new fitted fan could cost? As I say its an 83/84 ish TE AH500 mark V stereo one
Certainly not. Unless you often leave it with the jack plugged in while not playing.
Thats what I was gonna say... if you unplug it all the time, (duracell) they should last for AGES!! a year even, though you can get those leads that have a "little disconnector" thing that will help, you have to make sure its plugged in properly. but it also stops that awful "clunk" if youve forgetten to turn the master volume on your amp down!!

bump incase a tech is about just now

when I turned it on, there seemed to be a funny rattling sound from the fan, but after the soundcheck (and I do play quite loudly) it seemed to be gone and amp worked (fan intact/working) any thoughs? do I need to worry? have I inadverantly"shook" the problem better? is that possible? anyone know? thanks chaps.

Though happy with 2 stingrays a JD and a status Ive all ways wanted "Wal" never had one.. but....one day.. spoilt geyt are'nt I?
-
see if you can borrow a status. looks aren't to eveyones taste but they really "do" recording those Basses. just eq the desk channel flat and turn all on the guitar to "full" for best results. (sounds a bit Nigel Tuffnall that but...) the engineer will probably comment on its massive output but he'll sort that out for you! all the best with the project by the way.

Anyone ever seen one of these (DYNACORD bass amp)
witterth replied to Jesso's topic in Amps and Cabs
I had one for a while and regret selling it a lot of "poke" for something so portable, IMO. also, you could get extension 2x10s cabs for them, now that, really shifted some air! Id get it if I were you, £400 is a good price for a lot of combo -

I dont care what anyone says to the contary, but "Marky" Mark King.... well...he got da funk! (he's not all about the triplet/machine gun stuff before you start!) I love that Guy's Playing so there!!
-
A really good "name" bass player told me that " the Funk" isnt about "being one the one" ( I Know!!) but he said, you should, "lean into it" (man) and after he told me that, scales just fell away from my eyes!! I'm not saying I can "do" the funk like this guy can/does, I'm a mid 40s, gigging, function band player!! so not much funk there!! I just thought it was a really good teaching point, that I'd share, it helped me...with my "attitude" do you get me? Hot Damn!!

In 1978 playing Bass guitar on "house of the rising sun" there's a pattern here with that tune eh? Simon,(OG) Im looking at you!! OH ..also "my brother Jake" It was at some "Charidee" gig in Stretford (near Old trafford, southeners) I was much too young to "realise" what both of those songs were about ,but when I hear them... they make me smile, especially "my brother Jake" we had a guy, playing piano, who was really quite good too! -
