4.
first off, cant believe some idiot on the other page was bad mouthing bootsy collins as a bass player.. anyways for me (and this is citing some of the people thats influenced me right from the days of first picking up a bass) Chris Wolstenholme Flea Bootsy Collins Les Claypool John Paul Jones Juan Alderate Tim Commerford Geezer Butler Bass player for Toots & the Maytals (only just realised i dont know the guys name) I dont think theyre the greatest, just had the greatest influence on the way that I play, but when it boils down to it, i listen to far much more music than this list suggests and i believe everything influences you, even the stuff you dont like influences you
oops, sorry that "idiot" was me!! (& apologies for any offence on that booty call) Still not "avin" Mani, though, just average at best, groove hard? naa..... shorthand for shortcuts and too,too simple but its only what I reckon ( Its a small club probably, though I think I'm pointing at the elephant in the room) and if its about what we think/influence,Gary Mountfield has been an influence..... VIZ..not to be anything like him I suppose. sorry, young men ( & marvin!!! ) W
5.
If you want to go for a CIJ Fender Jazz, I spotted a cracking used one in a local shop in Croydon going for £350. Unsure of the year, looked brand new but assumed it was used at that price. Nice unmarked rosewood board, tort plate and great sunburst finish with no visible lines where they joined the body pieces together (something I hate to see on sunburst models, especially on MIA basses). Had an urge to buy it there and then but resisted!
100% brill post DB W re reads thread: but you know this stuff
6. Eh Up linus!! I'd say a stingray would suit you and they (fretless ones) are going for daft quids at the moment. what happened to "Kiera" I had my eye on btw? Best Regards, W
7. "mani" as in stone roses/Primal scream? HA HA Naaa!! (forgot to say in my opinion)
8. Allways wanted one but never in the right place at the right time. I read somewhere Mark King Bought his first JD because a wal was out of his price range at the time BTW. he has one now. lovely Bit of kit....anyone who wants to trade a wal for a 2003 stingray?
9. Aquarium shops stock the uv tube BTW they use 'em in fish tanks I got two from one of those type of stockist. helpful? Nice bit of kit btw How much? (oops £295 I see!)

11.
thanks for that witterth, can faulty valves make amps cut out too? it does work without the valve inserted if i turn knob to solid state
Id say most certainly a valve issue, and they can cause all sorts of mayhem if you get a "bad" one. there is a thing about valves thats like light bulbs (IMO) some run,and run,and run forever some just.. go... and thats it. because they are like big power storage things and are effectivley quite an old technology they do just "messup" once in a while. its cos they make Bass amps sound SO GOOD that manufacturers still use them. If you want to replace one yourself btw, treat a valve like a halogeon bulb for your car IE no touchy touchy with bare hands no expert but it is informed waffle!! W
12. Actually the "screaming noise" you talk about suggests it could be a valve Ken, lit or not. they can be quite tempermental bugg#rs at times. I'd get it down the Doctors if I were you!! replacement valves arent that dear by the way.
13. Isn't silddx just the nicest guy out there? Makes me sick! (good man Nige!!)
14. Are waynepunkdude and MB1 really just the same guy?
15.
Yep, I've heard "which is easier, guitar or bass?" to which I always reply the same thing, which is my honest opinion. "Bass is easier to get to a standard you could play in a band but as you progress it's harder to play the same thing on a bass than it would be a guitar." Or words to that effect.
well as Harry hill would say "which is easier, guitar or bass?" well, theres only one way to find out!....yes....FFiiggh...... na, just tell 'em to fu#k off.
16. Whats wrong with the light? do you know?
17. Ive had 2 TNT 150's over the years (2 dull stories for why) and both times thought...Pphhww.....Naa & got rid (quite sharpish) annoying "clip/compessor" gadget you cant by pass......(wonder why )
18. I had one of these ( in better nick too ) and still have the 2x10. I gave it to a fellow BCer who reports hes getting good use of it,so all good there. stunning MASSIVE sound not reccomended for "glass backs"
19. Ive told you keep it........ Wayne: "....and one day she WILL be mine oh YESS" sorry a bump not a wind up!
20. All this, " you must be off your nut stuff" is in someways a bit harsh chaps! do none of you hardened pros or ruemy eyed funk rockers (like me) not remember that, first flush of youthful enthusiam? well I do, I can remember all those(many)years ago, really looking forward to "gig" "GUYS WE GOT A GIG!!!!" hurrahh e.t.c much merriment and the like, you know. lets not be to cynical about the "worth" of doing a gig, as I say, sometimes the buzz of doing one is enough and even in my aged state I can still recall that feeling....it seems like..... yesterday...yesterday...yesterday...yesterday................. Ps on the gear front Id say NO and not worry about it, when will you see any of 'em again?
21.
Dont Worry it'll soon wear off, that feeling.....NURSE! the screens please!
22. Bass playing wasnt though steve.
23.
Niceness, you will regret it in the morning Although i know what you mean to a tiny extent, Bootsy is not the most technical of players but he is a legend none the less......I prefer more of his early solo stuff and the P-funk days with a MUTRON and yes the JB's too. Is it the B-line in Groove is in the heart or the message you don't get? There was another funkadelic message that said something like 'Free you mind and your ass will follow'..... ....Not everybodies taste but i dig!
Regret? ....well it was late, I'd a cheeky drink so....yes, I do regret being a rude, "Know-it-all" I know nowt!! W
24. november this year,2010, google "mancester bass day" for the date (RNCM is the venue)
25.
MB1. ...Irrrarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrnoooo! BUMP!
Eranu(?) dony worry, it probably wont be in many spell checks M! W
