Is Playing sitting down just not an option? seriously, it may be something to consider (health over "cool") I know for some types of music that it isnt an option, but for function/covers bands a high stool with your bass balanced on your knee ...(ridiculous?)
I'd be wanting £200 as it's immaculate, has a hard case (tatty!!) and has a new scratchplate. Might seem expensive but it looks even better in the flesh. I've got my Sadowsky back so not in a desperate rush to get rid, but it's not getting played...
Good price ( but its late in payday month) lemme think, very tempted!! I'll let you know if Im not beaten to it. not intrested in washburn fretless & cash your way deal? btw the strings dont seem to sit directly over the pickup pole peices is that an "issue"? asking cos I dont know, rather than a critisim
"... but i dunno... i don't want to get bored with the songs before we've even gigged them!!" I know I've been on this board before recommending people to go and watch Normal Watt-Roy in the Wilko Johnson Band, but I first saw these around 25 years ago (and countless times since) and they are still playing largely the same numbers. How many times can you play 'Roxette' without going mad? But Norman still puts more into his performance than any other bass player I know, he's developed things, changed things about and constantly seeks perfection. He doesn't get tired of the songs, he just gets better, as a result I still want to hear Roxette again! Greg
+1 for that,"grafter" is that Norman! ( or "Normal"! ) -
I got some strap locks from dawsons (all good) when I got them home and opened the pack...calamity.. the (daft) sealed pack thing scattered everywhere and the two retaining srewss skitterd down the deckking gaps. B&Q?...well no despite visiting many stores nothing the right size...really... nothing!! P'md our own Andy who searched his "magic Box" and viola! couple of days later replacements dropped packed safley on the door mat at chez Witterth topbloke eh? my fault for losing 'em but class act help from Andy Will return the favour if I can, a beer at next bass day certainly Thanks Andy
And Flea does Flea. I quite agree, & I think it's all that needs to be said. None of this "A is far superior to B" bollocks -- it's like arguing over whether oranges or apples are best. I know who I prefer, by a long way, but it doesn't make him 'better'.
Arrh!! he said bollocks and he's a prefect as well!!
+100000000000, it really shows how stupid some people are
oohh dear friday night "shandy frenzy" kicks in? ...lads,....lads,....let it go .....leave it alone, no-one REALLY cares that much. (& anyway the fact is that Mark King is the best!!) still, lets not get the opinion/laugh stuff, get in the way lets agree to disagree.....FFS!... & stop this...eh.......?? calm down ..calm down... Remember if there was a Stuart Hamm vs Victor Wooten debate, how dull would that be? btw the fact that ANYONE who rates flatwound strings must be (at least) a sixty year old drunk is true!! oh surely you dont need to know that thats meant as a joke too??? oh..and James Jamerson wasnt any good either!!
Hi I have for sale the following bits of Trace Elliot bass kit all in very good working condition 1 Carpet covered 1 x 15 £110 200watts 2 Carpet covered SM150 GP7 head £150 150 watts inot 8ohms 300 watts into 4ohms 3 Carpet covered SM 150 GP7 combo £200 150 watts into 8ohms 0r £400 for the lot Note the combo is not one of the BLX combos it is the full SM150 head in a combo unit exactly the same as the head I am selling. All are VGC original no mods. The combo is designed to sit on the 1 x 15 to make a mini stack which according to the blurb is delivering 300 watts into 4 ohms. This rig is not loud enough for the bigger gigs I am looking at now and I am after a good 4 x 12 and or head unit if some one wants to trade. Any tolex covered TE gear in my photos is not for sale. Tapau...a Jaydee (I belive that mark king gave the tapau guy it as a pressie, when they were support to level 42) so some "42" content then! I remember reading somewhere that back in the day, could be a "false" memory, it happens these days!
This is absolutely true. If you listen to the bass parts he played on "If I Was" with Midge Ure live at the Prince's Trust in the 80's, it is without a doubt one of the grooviest basslines of all time.
the version he did of "breakout" (swing out sister) has allways been some thing of a "guilty pleasure" of mine "Heads down men.....IN COMING!!!!"
His solo stuff is good, his Weather Report stuff better, but his Joni Mitchell stuff is untouchable. 'The Dry Cleaner from Des Moines' anyone? Inspirational!
Big +1 on Jaco with Joni
