2.
Genesis "Turn It On Again" - 13/8 if my memory serves me right
You are correct sir. btw, the theme music to "The Bill" (old one any way) was in 12/8 and a Phycologist friend of mine said, that was why it was hard to whistle/hum ..I see what she means come to think of it! (I think they did eventually change it to 4/4 before bining it alltogether)
 3.
Thanks very much for the recent contributions, but as in my last post the problem was with the cabinet itself. It's got a dodgy joint (I think at a bottom edge) and the air compression in the cab was making it move. This movement could be heard as a 'tick', mainly through the port. Turning the cab upside down has changed the weight distribution - and with the the weight of the amp on top - and the noise has stopped. I think I was being given a duff steer about the speaker, it's working fine. Like you guys I blamed the amp/speaker/eq/volume etc etc just because that's exactly what the noise sounded like - but it was actually something very simple. But thanks again for the posts.
Hmm..Like Warwick says sometimes its those "little things" (that bugg%r things up)Eh? well diagnosed Dr Northstreet!!
 4. Well...Ive seen/heard Mr King playing for sessions, masterclasses & just few Princes trust gigs in late 80s/90s with some of the worlds best. a thirty year+ carrer Ive been struck by what a totall musician/all rounder he is, he can do the lot!! bass playing/drums/keys/guitar/MDing/songwriter (like 'em or not!) a really talented guy.. +1 for The Guvoner Mark King for me, all the way and I dont care if thats Passe (I like flea... but like Mark King...which is best? only one way to find out...FIGHT!!!!) 9. I think Im going to have to get something like Lowendbees set up,as the trace elliot stuff I have is REALLY wrecking my back but I want sommat LOUD!! really loud!!!!! can that be done in small packages?? I started in the early 80s so big rigs have allways been the "thing" for noise!! what do you think chaps?
 10. Whats an "orange Terror Bass" BTW?
 11.
Wondering whether anyone could shed some light on an issue I think I have (or may have conjoured up through paranoia....), I play in a three piece blues based covers band and pretty much play in small pub rooms. I'm lead singer as well and we usually end up squashed into a corner. Thing is, I find that I can't hear what I'm playing clearly all the time. I'm using a Trace AH-500 with 4x10 and 1x15 underneath, a bit of a beast really and usually end up standing no more than 2 meters in front of it and find that, especially with higher strings that the sound kind of goes away, as if its going straight through me. Of course, then you start edging up the pots bit by bit.... I guess my question is, is it probable that although I cant hear myself that well, the rest of the pubs up the street can hear every note and every dropped note clear as a bell while I occasionally get a rumble through the floor on bottom E??! Anyone else have this experience and indeed any advice? Is it possible (horror of horrors ) that this rig is just too tasty for this type of gig? Cheers all!
Its not a Musicman Bass with a dodgy G string is..? A bit of "theme" on here recently!!
 12.
Cheers Justin .......................................Thanks for that..Now belongs to me, I'd forgotten how good these are - all I need now is a Roadie!!!....Al is a cool guy to deal with by the way- cheers....
you've done well there!!

 15.
Yes that's the door frame to the right and I use special horizontal hangers! Oh yes and the special gravity in my house makes money fly out of the house whenever I see a tasty bass!
Oh Ive got that then!!just seen a wal (ceteras, I WANT that guitar) can you lend me a left handed screwdriver to put up some horizontal hangers BTW?
 16. Ok, I know Ive asked before, but how much for the Fretless, cetera? I want it!! (no, I do) not for sale eh? Bugg£r
 17.
It's been a LONG time since I've had a Ray but it had to be done. I'm really surprised at how much more than a one trick pony it can be, especially with flats on. My past experiences with Rays left me cold as I just couldn't seem to get away from that aggressive upfront tone, wonder if it's me, the strings or the bass that has changed (3 band rather than my old 2 band, though I've not been tweaking the EQ much on the bass)? I do have to confess I was holding out for a 2005 'Buttercream' Sterling or a really tasty sunburst Sterling but as this was local I went for it... now has anyone got a Sterling to trade?
Your House has different "take" on gravity!! HA HA!! nice bass though! BTW my 3 band is basically louder then the 2, if you get my meaning

 22.
MB1. ..Youll not be taking a walk Through ALEMBIC Country Then? Nice Bass by the Way!...ave a BUMP!
Nope!! I do thinks is lovely though!!

 24.
Funny you should ask that question Pete - often in pubs gigs where I have to be the 'beardyman' (why do soundmen always have beards? - even the female ones) we do Steely Dan's 'Do it again' because I can play the open E with my right hand and fiddle with the levels & eq on the PA with my left hand.
Show Off
 25. Most of" Dune tune" and then "a town called Malice" for that pick attack stuff that scares sound engineers!! is my choice, fingers, slap and pick.
