2.
I'm waiting for someone to turn up on here with a "Rail." Fred.T.Baker had one when I had a couple of lessons with him in the late 80's. Seriously cool thing!
OTPJ you are man who's taste in ALL things bass I have allways found without question and completly "spot on" ( and stil do ) but that westone "rail"???? what were you thinking of? a bad day? some chemical fuelled ( it was 1989) dalliance? eeeeeewwwwhhhhh!!!! love W
3.
Not in any way to decry Jaco - that guy was a genius and no doubt, but Pino's playing has always just seemed more relevant to where my head's at.
OH YEAH! +1
4. I remember a band I was in, shunning a kit player instead of an oberhiem (sampled kit sound drum machine, it was very expensive at the time) OBX.. whatever it was called... drum machine, which was great, when recording ,but at the time we,surely looked cun#ts when using it at (1 only) gig... before getting a real drummer but then it was 82/83..... and we all looked cun#ts anyway!!! 'cept me of course
5. Hi Wayne, If you look at a fan run site called "pino palladinos bassment" it'll give ,at some point, a discography.its almost like, who he DOESNT play for!! fu#kin a pedigeree to die for, my friend!! ( if youre interested btw) ATB W

9. I used them a lot years ago in band where I used to slap all night and thet were ok,but the G strings used to snap a lot quicker than other makes (Ie rotosound), and I did change 'em every gig for brightness sake
10. AH HA!! prophet5 Thats it! thank you, youma!
11. Really not trying to be smart@ss, honest. but I cant hear any other bass, other than sequenced/arpeggiated analogue synth. probably a pro88(?) if that what they were called...cant properly recall....., Mike Lindup had one
12. HEY Homer!!!! If youre REALLY that worried ..... I'll do it, no problem, I mean if it helps you out and all, it would be selfish of me NOT too!! (I'm going to take the money Chris...)
13. I cant remember what he said now, (few beers) but one of MB1s usuall sarcastic, acidic comments, with his usuall comic timing nearly got me kicked out of the concert room for giggling like a school kid!! Good Day
14. squeaky fingers and fret noise prooves there a bass player there, and if its not TOO much why worry? All is good/well
15. You could dine out(handsomely) on nearly all of Dire Straits's back catalogue and most of Bryan Adams's too. though with a whole band playing it if you see what I mean. recent contenders are owt by "Razorsh*te" an "The kings of Leon" BTW oh yeah, and frikken, Owassiss
16. a guy I know spent a LOT of money with them and records no problem, but then again repeat custom does help dunnit? in fact TBH I saw the fact they were a good shop ect so.....yeah
17. All Id say is, most of the lessons I've has from GOOD DB players has been...simply "have you forgotten those open strings!!!??? what notes are they??!!! and" how you can get around quicker if you use em????" "open strings are your friends....." ect ect coming from an electric bass background it make so much sense, I'm babbling but to the novice on DB(like me) oh dont forget to gaffer your fingerdinks if you're" rockabilly rockin" ouch!!
18. Ive had very similar problem and not got to the bottom of it yet Buugg#r....
19.
I do remember Q-Tips and I do remember they did a lot of gigs. Credit to them. That said, it means nothing. How many people here can name one song The Q-Tips recorded? Who can name one member of The Q-Tips whose name isn't Paul Young? No cheating now! P
We will just NEVER agree will we? same shout, to waynepunk....... btw they are called "bad" for a reason you know its not just irony..
20. As Harry Hill would say...."yeah, good luck with that"
21. Every time Ive left gear to the "elements" be it shed, cold van,or whatever its ALLWAYS gone wrong in the long term. Sorry, but the news is allways bad on this one!

I`m 43 and lived through the 80`s music scene. I play in a covers band, we do alright and are quite busy and no one has ever asked us for Paul Young, Eurythnics, Human league, Haircut 100, etc. I was a heavy rocker in the 80`s (still am I suppose) but I do admit to wearing a skinny gray leather tie on one occasion to impress my missus. It matched my gray oxford tie shoes. But only the once! Jez
Yeah ...but that wasnt my point was it? "80s were'nt crap" was where I was going!! some good bands, ect yours (with jacket sleeves rolled up) W
23. Mmmmmm.. twa#ts eh? but then again whaddaya do when playing is your job? some of the guys in the band, bass/drums/guitar were'nt hue, or cry. they would be on a wage/ retainer/ pd's/profit share/of mechandise, or what ever, dont judge TOO harshly. if youre pro without an advance/money you've still got to pay your gas&phone bill!!! KWIM?

EDIT true fact? bollo#ks EDIT2; plus the fact ...punk?.....PUNK?.. oh wake up! that was friggin dead in 79 (ever feel like you've been cheated?) was the only worthy statement of real punk, the rest was just as posturing, when Kenny Everet "does" punk well..... The Clash wen't punk, they were good, instead...BTW ooopppss! I sound TOO serious
25. Played on skye once at a village hall type of thing and had an ACE night (folk/funky/tradtunes band) Id say give it a go. how often do you get food /accomodation/paying gigs seeking you out? you must be a good turn & even the BEST( not that youre not!!) of bands seek them out, if you know what I mean
