  1. They've always been well-attended in the past - it's about time we had another!
  2. Myself and a few other Tyneside-based BC'ers did this recently... More here.
  3. I'm sure I saw an interview where the subject was broached - he acknowledged it but basically said 'I don't care. I like him.'
  4. Anyone listened to the Hackett + Orchestra live album yet? Hmm.. not keen.
  5. Pewter! Beautiful...
  6. I shall acquiesce to @walshy, @cd_david and @Ghost Rider on this one...
  7. A handful of us got together in Newcastle today to talk nonsense about our basses, mostly Precisions. We had 18 in total.. Here's some pics.
  8. The tone stack is a classic passive Baxandall, which is just a different approach to the type of stacks we’ve become used to in other amps (along with driving the output gain higher than I’m used to on other amps). The Walkabout is a variant of this, with additional parametric functionality. Personally I wrestled with the WA EQ for years, even when I finally understood it. Thankfully it sounded great flat-ish. Maybe part of the HandBox’s tone and character comes from the simplicity of the circuit? I’m not sure what they have coming up re: additional EQ, but if someone had very specific EQ needs, or is used to tweaking a 5-Band EQ, I can understand why they might feel the need for more specific control. I’m interested to see what it’s going to be...
  9. It's a selectable option for an up-charge. I also spec'd Hipshot Ultralites to counter any possible hint of neck-dive, of which there is none. Have a tinker with the customiser: https://public-peace.de/configurator/jake-c/ Be warned, once you get going, it's hard to walk away.
  10. My chambered Maruszczyk Jake (on the left) weighs 7.2lbs, has a neck profile that mirrors my '71 Precision, and it absolutely sings.
  11. Yes indeed - some of their stuff on FB is gorgeous.
  12. Limelight, anyone...?
  13. I would probably have liked Marillion more than I do, but I just can’t get past the drummer. All of his fills sound like he’s tripped over his kit. Max respect to them for doing what they do, though.
  14. Looking forward to seeing it on Monday...
  15. Lovely! What's the weight?
  16. My inbox is creaking under the weight of mailshots from dealers desperately trying to big up Fender's latest overpriced & underwhelming offering. Who the heck is in their focus groups?
  17. Two things: 1 - Don’t be so insulting to the rest of the country. It’s not a cultural vacuum outside of the M25. 2 - Don’t be so insulting to other Basschatters. Learn to make a point without relying on barbs. Thank you.
  18. I hear ya. At 40-something, I'm busier than I've ever been - which is a good thing - but it's taking its toll.
  19. Sorry to hear of your trauma. Thankfully none of the above fall into that category.
  20. I think we're used to amps with baked-in EQ curves, so relatively speaking it might seem like it. According to the tone plot, it's relatively flat.
  21. ...and they sounded awseome.
  22. I'm not sure if these have been mentioned already, but GHS Precision Flats are beautiful. I believe Lakland used to rebadge them as their own, which is how I got into them. Similar to La Bella FLs, but with (IMO) a little more in the mids. Musik Produktiv do them for about £38 posted. I love 'em.
  23. What bass and cabs are you using? Bear in mind the response of the amp is pretty much flat, so whatever the bass is putting in, is going to be well reflected in the out. Presumably you haven’t got ‘bright’ engaged, and you’re using flat at a starting point..? One way to take out a bit of the high mids would be to dial in a little bit of the contour. I was a long-time Mpulse / WA user, and while the EQ is far more flexible, I found myself mostly using it to try and put the mids back in. Either way, I hope you manage to sort it after a bit more tinkering. I don’t like a toppy sound, but it’s perfect for me just left flat or thereabouts - it’ll be interesting to hear how you get on!
  24. Ha! No - just lots of past experience buying from TKS, Maruszczyk and HB 🙂
