  1. Hey, if John Hall can give me a good reason why my ACS's literally don't work, I'm all ears (sic).
  2. I bet these were white before you put them in.
  3. To be fair, I just skimmed this, but at least I tried 🙂 What I personally was trying to get to the bottom of is this very clear statement in the OP: I was talking to a specialist audiologist Doctor last week and he says ear plugs don’t work. ..which I make no apologies for. I would have appreciated replies to my posts, though.
  4. ..and I'm saying I get it with off-the-shelf, but not disposables. Just sharing my experience , that's all ;-)
  5. Yep - that's what I used to get with the off-the-shelf earplugs.. but not the custom-moulds because they fill the void, so-to-speak.
  6. I don't think your mod status has anything to do with it. I think it's because you posted something contentious and pulled the shutters down.
  7. I did, and it's worth it.
  8. They're not mine 😄
  9. I believe the ACS (and maybe others?) does the latter, especially as there's absolutely no evidence of a boost in low-end frequency when I use them, unlike previous 'off the shelf' plugs I've tried. Here's a pic I pinched off the internet which shows them going around the corner, so-to-speak. What I do know is that when I wear them, I can enjoy the gig as if I'm not wearing them. And when I take them out, my hearing is fresh and sparkly like I've been sitting in a quiet room for two hours. ,I'm not an audiologist and I'm happy to be educated otherwise, but if someone (i.e. the specialist, not the OP) is trying to tell me they literally don't work, they're going to have to put a hell of a case forward.
  10. I certainly wouldn't rock up to a shoot with a pair of ACS PRO 17's 😄
  11. You’ve posted something here which potentially turns perceived wisdom on its head. I don’t think we can be blamed for not taking it as gospel, given that there’s other hard evidence anywhere that anyone has found (yet?) that back his statement up, and now you’re backtracking slightly Believe me, I want to do what is right and practical for my ears, and ‘This bloke at a H&S conference says..’ doesn’t qualify. Was he representing and ear defender company by any chance? Pneumatic drills, jet engines and that?
  12. Did he tell you they literally don’t work?
  13. Ive been a member for years and years - never had a problem. There’s some helpful folks on there. I just bear in mind that they’re generally American, and there’s far more of ‘em than there is on BC - that way, there’s no suprises. If you REALLY want summick to whinge about, get yourself over to the old FDP. That place was the village of the damned for Fender lovers.
  14. I don’t see any attacking, just a push for clarification, some forthright opinions and a robust defence.
  15. 'The plugs don't work, they just make you worse...'
  16. So you're standing by your thread title, literally written, i.e. 'Ear plugs don't work'? OK. Stop using them, and let us know how you get on.
  17. I only heard about it through you. If he has proof that 99.9% of us - including other hearing experts, it would seem - are being mislead, with the possible consequence of widespread hearing damage, surely this is massive news, and he should be doing what he can to shake up the whole industry..?
  18. Right... if he’s right, he needs to shout about it a bit more because I suspect 99.9% of us are being mislead.
  19. It worked for me 🙂
  20. I'm thinking...
  21. The ACS PRO17s have changed by life. A flat response, I can have conversations at a normal level with them in, and I can sing without it feeling strange. Custom moulded, and only £40 quid(!!!!) via the Musician's hearing scheme. Incredible. I don't know what the audiologist referred to in the OP is on about, but when I gig with these in there seems to be absolutely nothing that could damage my hearing. I'd need to know more.
  22. Are you the clickbait police? Honestly, just move on.
  23. Last I heard, the UK price of the R-400 was £650 (and the WB-100 was £800) but that might have changed since. As mentioned above, drop Leszek an email at [email protected]. Or if you do Facebook, message via https://www.facebook.com/HandBoxAudio/ - I find him quicker to respond on there.

  25. Of course it matters, otherwise it would be more convenient to just turn up with a large rubber band.
