  1. A different scenario with similar principles, but completely different outcomes. I don't think I could have been more specific...?
  2. That's exactly my point.
  3. Would anyone turn down other gigs / family events because someone had promised to sell them a bass? Serious question.
  4. What is the collective noun for 'derrières', anyway? A Basschat of derrières, perhaps?
  5. If someone told me they were going to throw me a lifebelt after I'd fallen off a pier and didn't... I'd be furious. If someone told me they were going to sell me a bass and didn't... I'd be mildly annoyed.
  6. Sometimes people let you down. It’s disappointing, but nothing more.
  7. Stop Making Sense isn't really a live document. There'll be audio and camera shots flown in left, right and centre. Poor Tina always got the crappy end of the stick IMO. She shouldn't have been sidelined on bass when she was.
  8. Is this format a reasonable / useful way to to denote sensitivity? Sensitivity [average]: 102 dB SPL @ 1 W/1 m Sensitivity [100Hz]: 100 dB SPL @ 1 W/1 m Sensitivity [max]: 105 dB SPL @ 2,3 kHz, 1 W/1 m
  9. Understood - thanks as ever, Bill.
  10. Here's a couple of bonus questions - what makes one speaker more sensitive than another? And.. is there a reason you'd need a low sensitivity speaker rather than high? Is it purely down to construction cost?
  11. I've just installed a Limelight P pickup into my new (old) '72 'P. Sounds marvellous.
  12. I suspect your ears need a bit of a clean 🙂
  13. At the moment, this many...
  14. It got its first run out a couple of days ago on a dep gig, and it sounds lovely. Here's a snippety snippet.

  16. Oh no! I've not had this - presumably you've contacted Leszek? FIngers crossed for ya...
  17. Me neither - with a band as meticulously discussed at Rush, I’d it had been mentioned anywhere in fleeting by an official source it would have been well documented by now. I'm not naive enough to suggest there’s no overdubs on the album, mind...
  18. We've got twins! For the record, mine is an absolute cracker. Enjoy yours 🙂
  19. I've been a Rush fan for decades, and read everything about them I can get my hands on. I've never heard any mention of the bass on ASOH being completely overdubbed.
  20. Umm.. what's your source for this?
  21. IME, 60s necks are wide, but shallow front-to-back. Later 60s and 70s B necks are narrower (not J narrow tho) but deeper front-to-back. All are perfectly playable by anyone with normal hands 🙂
  22. Jeff, you’re either a serial bore, or obsessed. Let it go.
  23. Incidentally, has anyone heard the recent live album? Yikes.
  24. ...quoting @Oopsdabassist from the Rush thread, and continuing the cross-thread mash-up... I was about to post in this thread that - IMO - Yessongs could be great, but I think I suffers from similar audio issues to Exit Stage Left. Weird phasing, weak bass... like ESL, I wish they would rework it. But then the compilation they released from that tour seems to have similar issues, so maybe it's burned to the tape.
  25. Something to do with the chap from Alien Ant Farm, I believe. I'm too old to know anything about them.
