  1. Ha ha.. Never tried one, but if I was a betting man I'd put a big pile of money on 'Awesome'.
  2. Amen to that. The perfect match*. *They sound awesome with rounds too, mind.
  3. Flats are all about the mids, IMO. The head and 2x12 (non-tweeter) cab I use really lets them shine - lots of clarity, far more than just 'thump'.
  4. I guess they have enough quiet confidence in the performance of the amp not to have to dress it up like an Australian's nightmare 😄
  5. Yeah, I completely agree that there was something in the water at Fender late 60's / early 70s. Every one I've had (and this is my.. err.. 7th, I think?) has been a beauty. Nice weight, resonant, with 'that' neck profile, of course they sound great (IMO)... and they look fab. Once I've got a couple of tweaks done, I'll post more pics and give the full lowdown.
  6. There doesn't seem to be a pronounced dead spot on this, but none of my rosewood P's seem to suffer from it either.
  7. That’s good for you. If MB decide to stop designing amps that look like Homer Simpson’s dream car, they might just start appealing to those who do care what their amp looks like. Just a thought.
  8. Thank you. To be honest, I was never away. It slots nicely between my '71 and '73. 😄
  9. Oh aye.. I knew that, but completely forgot in my enthusiasm. I stand corrected.
  10. Hey gang Following a recent fling with a '63 Precision, which made me realise the early 60's neck profile isn't for me, I'm back in the bosom of the lovely fat early 70s P neck. I picked this up a few days ago - it's a '72, with a neck stamp dated the month & year of my birth. It's light (about 8.5lbs) and resonant, original black, with a maple neck. They're just teaser pics at the moment as it needs a little bit of love, but I'll post the full story soon. In the meantime, I can barely stop playing it...
  11. Here you go:
  12. No cab required 🙂
  13. Of late? They've always looked minging*. *IMO, and not intended to be a comment on their performance
  14. WE HAVE A WINNER!
  15. There’s a Detroit link...
  16. OK.. here you go: https://soundcloud.com/wateroftyne/home-9-01 (Not sure why it didn't embed..?)
  17. Pipped again!
  18. Don’t Give Up...
  19. I think Fender own the rights to them now.
  20. I just got asked to do this again in February. Oh... go on, then. As usual, I have no idea who might be on the bill (and I couldn't say even if I did), but I'll post a new thread nearer the time.
  21. Beautiful! What’s the weight?
  22. IMO rounds. Every now and then he hits the low E (the very last note he plays, for example) and you can hear the round bark. The rest of the time it doesn't sound a million miles from flats. I think the muting has a lot to do with that.
  23. Had I been that age, with the right qualifications, I'd have been up there myself. It's still wrong, though. They're only paying nothing 'cos they know they can get away with it.
