Since getting mine, I've been lucky enough to acquire beautiful (real) '73 and '63 P's. Technically I should now sell my Limelight, but I can't part with it. It's just too wonderful.
I think if you make a shed-load of cash by putting yourself out there (not in any way a criticism, btw), you have to be prepared to take the rough with the smooth. You can either engage with it, or completely ignore it. Both valid approaches, IMO.
I've only read the OP, but it sounds to me like you don't want to be in a high school cover band.
All you can do is nudge them in the right direction... if they don't get it, walk away for your own sanity.
