Had time for a bit of noodling over the last couple of days. Here's a clip with the pre-amp being hit hard. I'd love to do something to show the power stage in overdrive, but neither my cheap Zoom recorder nor neighbours would ever speak to me again.

As an aside, this clip also makes me mourn the loss of regional TV.

According to Charlie, the bass player concerned, it's there '..to help me keep time, obviously.' 😄

Yep, and when the pricing was mentioned on TB (frequently over the years), I've never seen it be challenged.

I was always under the impression - based on comments over the years on TB - that Mesa rules pricing with an iron fist (no discounting, etc.)..?

..forgot to mention, I think the PRO15s would be a slightly better match for me, but the 17s will do fine. They have a flatter response, too.

I used my PRO17's for the first time atlast weekend's gigs. They were incredible - I'm used to the usual basic earplugs, and these are a different league. Amazing flat response. You can hear people talking quietly in the room, but they seem to kick in at volume. I have no idea how they do it. And.. singing doesn't feel weird and boomy. That occlusion reduction really works. I completely recommend getting them via the musicians' hearing scheme I mentioned above. £40 is a complete bargain.

As much as I can in the woolly world of describing heft... When I play a note, it feels tangible. It has a solid core. Yes, that sounds ridiculous... but I don’t care.

Happy to report both my Maruszcyks were delivered with no issues. Sorry to hear others haven’t had the same experience. They’ve expanded pretty quickly, maybe that’s the root of any QA issues?

IMO it’s a transient thing. I’m not sure judicious EQing could could reintroduce it for me.

I'm not a fan of either... that I've tried so far. I haven't used the Quilter, or the new generation used in the Mesa Subway etc. so obv. I can't comment on those.
