I like his reviews, and I'm glad he's back, but I never heard him say anything bad about anything he'd been sent to review...
Maybe he was just choosy with what he reviewed. I dunno.
I don't think anyone buys a vintage Fender in the hope that it will be £x000 better than a £500 bass. If they do, they're misguided.
It's about collect-ability, romance, and (possibly) investment.
I'm getting on with it very well indeed!
It sounds fantastic, but I couldn't say how much - if any - of it is down to special early 60s sauce. It's just a great sounding P. I got lucky.
Actually, even though I haven't had access to one of these for six months now, my heart still sings when I look at pictures of them. I need to raid the piggy bank.
Leszek's just sent me some pics of the slightly facelifted WB-100. As well as the original case format, it looks like you can now get it rackmountable and also 'naked'.
DG is just completely awesome.
It's great that both him & Roger are getting knee-deep in trying to make a difference (whether you agree with some of the causes or not).
Yup - Queen's stock is higher than it's been in a couple of decades, and a significant amount of credit for that has to go to Taylor and May for keeping the flame burning.
Quick update - the bass' previous owner has been in touch. He'd owned it since 1982 - he was glad to see that I'm gigging it, and it's not just hanging it on a wall. It was nice to find out a bit more about its history.
