  1. Hi all FWIW the 'correct' startup sequence (at least on mine) is: 1. Red HB light & 'Protect' light for about 30 seconds 2. A gently audible mechanical 'click' then a switch to green HB light and 'Ready' light. I wonder if the LED has failed on @RikiB's? I don't think having the amp on a cab will be a contributing factor to any problems..! Also, I am fairly sure Lezsek is way on holiday at the moment, so if you're getting zero / brief responses, that might be why.
  2. I hope I'm wrong, but I strongly suspect this will be absolutely pants.
  3. £900 for an incredible hand-made amp is pretty good going.
  4. I’m glad I don’t subscribe to that theory… 😄
  5. Just spotted these sold in auction yesterday for stupidly low amounts, not helped by the hopeless descriptions. Please tell me a BC’er got them…? https://bid.omegaauctions.co.uk/auction/lot/lot-289---1973-fender-precision-bass-left-handed----sunburst/?lot=38563&so=0&st=Bass&sto=0&au=117&ef=&et=&ic=False&sd=1&pp=48&pn=1&g=1 https://bid.omegaauctions.co.uk/auction/lot/lot-288---1973-fender-precision-bass-left-handed---black/?lot=38564&so=0&st=Bass&sto=0&au=117&ef=&et=&ic=False&sd=1&pp=48&pn=1&g=1
  6. Presumably we’re talking WB? The ‘upgraded’ version is incredibly clean. I preferred the earlier glow of the standard, but that’s not to detract from its astonishing volume. The fun just started to happen a little earlier. Had I been in a metal band or something, I’d probably upgrade.
  7. It’s 400 Class AB watts. It’ll handle anything you throw at it.
  8. It was a nice colour before it went wrong.
  9. That one looks about ready to involuntarily become a Steinberger.
  10. It only works for me if I hold my phone 6" or so from the pickups.
  11. No mention of the replacement pickguard? That's a bit of an oversight. I take that back. It looks like it might be original... the photo is just very saturated.
  12. La Bella FL's and GHS Precision Flats... fairly interchangeable IMO. Beautifully warm with clear mids.
  13. No need to boost bass. Just stick B&T at noon, and contour off. See how that goes.
  14. Hmmm… the R400 is anything but boomy. What settings did you have?
  15. I'll post this, but dunno why. This is pretty much what I've used at every gig for the last eight years 😄
  16. I've dug out the chat I had with Leszek about the light years ago, not long after I got my first R-400: Lamp isn't clip, it is an incredibly complicated analogical optical limiter, which perfectly keeps balance in the power amplifier. You are free to play as loud as you want. It's not possible to overload!
  17. Unless your bass is incredibly hot, crank the input and lower the output. Around 1pm works for me for a standard passive P.
