  1. Hey gang I'm doing a couple of sold-out shows at Newcastle City Hall this weekend in the house band for the Auf Wiedersehen Pet 40th anniversary celebrations. 21 tunes, most of which I've never played before, all of which are bangers. We've been in rehearsals all week, with everything laid out as close as it will be in the night (albeit in a different venue). We're getting monitor mixes and FOH mix as close as it can be, so there shouldn't be a whole lot of work to do when we have production rehearsals in the hall tomorrow. Usually with gigs like this keys and arrangements can be rather fluid, right up to the show itself, and this one is no exception. It keeps me on my toes, especially as a non-reader. A few scribbled notes, a decent memory and a following wind will see me through. Gear-wise, I'm using what I use down the Dog and Duck... Handbox R-400 head, TKS S212 cab, and '71P with flats, and a Maruszczyk Jake with rounds (haven't decided which will get the nod yet), and an LR Baggs Venue DI (used only for silent tuning). FOH is getting the cab mic'd with a Beyer M88 and a DI from the R-400. I'm told a 50/50 mix is being used. The band are a bunch of great lads, and it's been a pleasure so far. Tomorrow, we're moving into the City Hall. I'll post updates when I can. This is Jamie. Jamie's a mixing GOD. Monitors...
  2. Just dropped by to say the title of this thread would be a great opening line for a song.
  3. That Jaco article screams 'AI'.
  4. Where’s the green? That’s… not green.
  5. Yes. There's no way I have theory thundering through my head while I'm playing. In short, I know where my hands need to go on the fretboard to play a note I know will work. I suspect we're wired differently, and you know what? That's fine.
  6. It’s rare to find one of these that isn’t signed by Sting 😄
  7. This has to be the most niche question ever asked on BC.
  8. New Moon for me. Never had to claim, but I've heard positive reports from people who have. (and they'll cover your gear when it's unattended in the car)
  9. These have just arrived... and like a dafty, I've ordered the wrong gauge. Brand new, unopened.£30 each, or £50 for both, including UK postage.
  10. If you have a specific target audience, it's very much worth doing. Otherwise, it's a bit of 'throw muck at the wall and see what sticks'.
  11. I think you may have misinterpreted the previous posts.
  12. Yep, happening at the moment. I grew up listening to The Eagles. I know every song inside out, and have a deep knowledge of all the bass parts. …but then I joined an Eagles tribute band, and discovered I was very, very mistaken.
  13. Partially ‘cos it’s in the US.
  14. I like BassBros. They seem to be on a mission to keep vintage prices reasonable.
  15. I dunno. Even if it worked well, it would still look prohibitively daft.
  16. Yep.
  17. Yes if it can be done by tagging & filtering, but (IMO) no if it means separate forums for each.
  18. A pedant writes: The guitarist plays a wierdly choppy rhythm part in places on Tom Sawyer, and it's pretty jarring. Apart from that, they're bloody good.
  19. I wrap my stuff up pretty quickly, then straight in the car with it. After that, I move on to everything else. I prefer lugging the big boxes outside, ‘cos wrapping cables bores me to death. I have to bite my tongue when others are either slow, or don’t do their fair share.
  20. True, but if there was a P forum, all I'd ever look at is P's, and I might miss something non-P that tickles my fancy. Keep them all together. It's not hard to scroll past, or search. 😘
  21. IMO no. The fewer silos the better.
