  1. You can do some OK 'on the fly and on the cheap' recordings with a couple of well-placed Zoom recorders, and some edits to face more cameras. The effect can be kinda grungy, but it gets the job done. Here's a couple I made: ..of course these are no replacement for a good pro shoot.
  2. Fair point. Anderson / Howe / Squire / White / Wakeman for me. That's not to belittle the contributions of the others in any way. (Hey, I even like Drama.)
  3. They're lovely. They're what Lakland flats used to be. How much are you paying?
  4. It is, but it only has three years to cover in two hours. EC's done poos that took longer then three years.
  5. As a very recent Yes convert, I really wish I'd seen the classic line-up*. *Irrelevant comment I know, but I just feel like I had to say it
  6. He's not done anything decent since 'Take My Breath Away'.
  7. No subs. Just very good tops.
  8. Did a dep last night with a power trio - the drummer was also a dep, who I'd never met before. I was slightly nervous 'cos it was a big-ish room, the band are loud, and everything but the bass was through the PA. I only had a 120w valve head, so I turned it up and hoped for the best. It was fine. Lots of dodgy moments, but we carried it off...
  9. I've finally found the upper limits of the WB-100 😄 I depped with a power trio last night (the drummer was a dep too - never met him before). It was post-match in a fairly big pub room. The bandleader likes it LOUD. Like, really loud. Everything goes through the PA... apart from the bass. Gulp. So, I threw caution to the wind, maxxed out the output as usual, drove the input much harder than I normally would, Clean? Not quite. Playing lightly on the quite bits.. yes. As soon as I dug in, I was rewarded with a responsive, creamy grind. Great fun for that kind of stuff. I can't imagine playing at that volume without a PA too often, mind. Glad I had my earplugs... Here's a clip - roundwounds, tone off completely, and can still hear those mids.. I'll post a clip later of a tune with a pick, and the bright switch on. It's hilarious in its clarity.
  10. Np problem! This is just a recording from the room with a Zoom Q4n.
  11. I've no experience with the Ashdown, so I can't comment. I can say the HB isn't inherently drivey, unless you want it to be. Of course it would be unavoidable at very high volumes, but I always seem to have the headroom to keep it clean.
  12. Yeah, the Prodigy did get mixed reviews, and IIRC the reliability was a bit shonky. I did fancy a go when they first came out. I was put off by the price, and the word 'scooped' being bandied about...
  13. You're welcome! FWIW, I've just re-uploaded the video with some bits added that I'd forgotten about.
  14. Here's a brief walkthrough of the amp, for anyone who's interested...
  15. ^^^^ That's what I use. Mind, I've only been asked to see them once, at a festival where the health & safety guy was a 'qualified' PAT tester who could test any uncertified gear for a reasonable fee. How convenient.
  16. Do you have powerline networking in the house? I do, and I get a noise in my amps unlessl I switch it off.
  17. Ah... the warm, muted glow of a well-relic'd bass. Lovely. IMO.
  18. Music for musicians. Yeeeuch. I wonder if the bass player dresses in stage gear when he's out sweeping the streets during his 9-5?
  19. I'm not so sure about this. I think we're talking a small number of people*. *I'm very happy to proved wrong.
  20. Fair point, but Talk Radio etc. have a massive potential audience, the experience to keep shows snappy, and - more importantly - everyone can listen to it in the car or in the office. BC has the luxury of none of those....
  21. [Devil's advocate mode ON] I also think we need to ask what the purpose of it is. I doubt it will attract new members, or extend BC's reach.. especially if it's not on FB or YouTube, and audio-only (and therefore linear). Would the content be better served in posts instead, where they'd get a wider audience and more interaction? Or... is it literally just a nice thing to have? Not that that's a bad thing, but it'll be a decent amount of effort, for what...?
  22. I'm not sure I've read a lot of criticism of early 80s Fenders..? They'd downscaled production significantly, and seemed to take a lot more care over things. Far better than the back-end of the previous decade.
