    I've been quite openly saying people have different approaches to mine. It's you that seems to struggle to comprehend that others can do it their own way.

    ...in your experience. I've (been lucky to have) played with people who just play, and don't need to get embroiled in the theory, or dot reading. Some of them undoubtedly do that with other projects, some don't. And they all do fine.

    You learn it as the songwriter intends, which can be done either by following the dots, or just having a good ear.

    The band learn it as the songwriter intends. And if it sounds cack, they persuade him/her to standardise it into something that feels right.

    It's all horses for courses. Is it useful? Undoubtedly. Is it important? It depends.

    I depends on context, I suppose. I don't read, but I don't really knock around with musicians who rely on it, so it's never been a problem.

    There are a lot of queens reigning in countries around the world. I imagine most of them are well respected, and do lots of great stuff. Also, some are more well-known than others. In those terms, Aretha is Queen Elizabeth II.

    It's a Fender(style) thing, It's usually only noticeable if you're looking for it, and you certainly can't hear it. It shouldn't put anyone off buying this bass.
