1. Yep, it's all over the shop. Give it a wide berth.
2. Just popped in to say that the Maruszczyk humbucker used on the Jake PJs is a monster. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1AQnOMx-V8
3.
+1 for that! I would perhaps expand as follows Expensive - Mesa Walkabout Scout
..and a complete PITA to carry about.
4.
I preferred the sound of the S112, that's right. The 1126 was more powerful, with lots of bottom end. My plan then was to just have the two 1126 and nothing else. But I didn't gel with them. Same with a pair of BF BB2 cabs. The S112 cabs are much more my thing. They just don't get as loud or as deep as the 1126 or BB2... but it turns out it's not really much of a problem.
Same for me. The 1126 is bigger and wider (tonally, and physically) but I prefer the way the S112 'speaks' - it's more present.
5. Promethean 5110. If you can find one.
6. Combining two S112's is exponential. The difference between one and two is huge. I can't imagine needing more than my S212. My S112 does me for many gigs, too.
7. I love Mallaig and TKS 12's. I haven't even looked at any other cabs since I got mine, many moons ago.
8.
Mike Dirnt. Imelda May.
Will Young? Brian Cant.
9. I had the RH450 for a year. Dunno why I stuck with it - it was (IMO) the aural equivalent of throwing wet toilet paper at a sheet of cardboard. (IMO, for those who missed it the first time)
10. Based on the pics alone, it looks OK to me. Just refinned with mods.
11. Do a bit of research on the Mesa heads - IIRC there have been a few reported issues.
12.
That does help, thank you. Every little bit of info helps as I know nothing!
....and I think JPJ of this parish borrowed one and gigged it. Ah, found the link: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/231938-npavad-new-no-longer-prototype-british-built-all-valve-amp-day/
13. Cigar box / oil can guitars are a bit 2015, aren't they?
14. Here's a tune from the a new band I've started up with some old pals. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLYbUy2ktLY
15. I prefer 440hz. But then this guitar might well by happier tuned to one frequency over the other. So many factors.
16. I believe the HandBox WB-100 will be available very soon, if not now: http://www.handbox.pl/WB-100-Glowa-Full-Lampa-p139.html
17. Here's a couple of tunes from a gig I recorded on Friday night, using a couple of Zooms - a Q4n and an Q2. The audio mainly the Q2 (purely down to placement) with a bit of Q4n mixed in for ambience. These are such good recorders - I wish the Q2n was 4K so I could crop at HD, but apart from that they're great for the money. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iV0BE2vSbnk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLYbUy2ktLY
18. Got a three-gig weekend with three different bands. Here's a clip from last night... such solid low-mids :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iV0BE2vSbnk
19.
i agree , however that's his version of it
Yep - that's why I went with Green Valley Metallic for my 'LPB'.
20. I saw the thread title and expected to see this:
21.
https://www.youtube....h?v=0I7E3Bie_mA in at 2/47 Admittedly a CR version but hey.........
It's instant Tony Levin!
22. What's the KK like in a non-salsa situation? All the decent clips I've seen seem to fall into that bracket.
23.
I know Howard reasonably well and see him now and then. Whenever one of these threads comes up some people drag up old stuff from a couple of years ago when Howard was having a bad time.
You never know, it might not happen this ti..... d'oh!
24. Here he is. Give me a holler if you need his phone number. I'm not sure what Conan is referring to. I'm intrigued...?
