1. If you know, deep in your heart, that the band has got legs and this could just be the beginning, then there's no harm spending money to tour, playing to 50-odd people a night. You'll also know if you're on a hiding to nothing, and it would be pointless exercise.
2. Hen's teeth! The 1x10 combo is one of the best bits of kit I've ever owned. This will be a rgenuinely portable, giggable beastie. Someone buy it!
3.
So bass direct now stocking Maruszczyk amps... https://m.facebook.c...id=292530792395 If anyone is near and tries them some reviews would be ideal!
They look lovely. Made by Handbox, FWIW :-)
4. Looks better and more authentic with black blocks anyway. GLWTS!
5.
I don't actually use the [s]contour[/s] any knobs at all on any head - [s]Leszek[/s] folk keep[s]s[/s] telling me I should, but it sounds great flat to me so I never bother. I should maybe try it one day :-)
Y'know, this is basically the truth...
6.
The thing I like most about the R-400 is that I only ever use one knob, the Contour. It's all I need. I'm interested to see what Leszek does with a class D head.
I don't actually use the contour knob at all - Leszek keeps telling me I should, but it sounds great flat to me so I never bother. 7.
I find pictures like the one above so distracting with 1 question: "Are those basses standing on concrete and getting scratched?" All looking nice though btw, as long as they're protected... but that's probably just me.
Fear not! The fretless is perched on a little rubber pad.
8. It's not joke music it if's done right. Four time, palm-muted and with a swing.
9. Yep, it'll run happily without a load. Great DI.
10. I've got a couple of weekends off, so if anyone around Tyneside would like to give my R-400 a spin at a rehearsal or gig, let me know.
11. Check this out. No silly power management nonsense - just a nice, compact, hand-built Class AB head with a fantastic preamp. Great value, too. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/282884-handbox-bass-amplification-new-to-the-uk/
12. It's worth mentioning that Newmoon cover theft from an unattended vehicle, too.
13. Newmoon are very reasonable, and very personal. I've been with them years now, but I've never had to claim, but I have confidence in them thanks to their reputation.
14.
I thought Pino played for Paul Young not Nick Hayward? N
He's played for lots of people, including Nick Heyward...
15.
I don't know why, but I just cannot listen to Ed at all, not any of it. Something really grates me about it. I've got no problem with pop music, but I just don't like his songs at all. I must have poor taste as everyone else seems to praise him.
Yeah, me too - he just screams 'open mic night' to me. Clearly though, I have no clue.
16.
Ah wicked. The Handbox is what started this train of thought - I almost messaged you to ask about the two ohm thing!
Because the WA can do 2-ohms, it got me wondering about the R-400, so I asked Leszek if it was possible: 'Not as it is, but for 50€ we can do modification on 2Ohm, no problem.'
17. Yep, the WA will happily do 2ohm. But, if you can live without the 2ohm or active EQ, look no further than the Handbox R-400.
18. Becoming a better player isn't going to help me much at the stage I'm at. I just concentrate on playing stuff well, bring in the right place at at the right time, building awareness of the bands I'm in.
19. Here's another corker... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQQ5sEOhbjQ
20. *** SHAMELESS NAME DROP ALERT *** Have I ever mentioned the time played with him? 'Course I have. Loads of times...
21. I made mock-ups of mine, so I could gaze at them on my phone when it all got too much.
22. Another random DS fact some of you might not know - the band recorded this one before MK decided it should be sung by a lady. So this is basically Tina Turner fronting DS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4QnalIHlVc
23. DS unfairly get a bad rap. Truth is, they're great songs, well played, and well produced. Listen to stuff like 'It Never Rains' - pretty hard-hitting stuff. I adore 'em.
24. I don't want to sound harsh, but a big boy would have had a grown-up conversation with them to try and resolve it. Honestly, if you'd come on here to say that they'd sold you an amp that looked like it had chickens living in it, and you'd complained but they'd told you to do one, I'd be right at the front of the queue waving my pitchfork. Instead, I'm looking at their decent eBay feedback and wondering if they even had a chance to sort it out.
