1.
Still, AC/DC gets sold out venues year after year. Millions of people thoroughly enjoy their straight-forward rock. DS sell tickets good too, but tour much less, so are a more rare commodity.
They're not actually a going concern, and haven't been for 25 years. Incidentally, I walked out of a DS show in '92. Bored out of my mind. Still love 'em. Love AC/DC, too.
2.
What? I love AC/DC but they will never be as good as Dire Straits. Mark Knopfler is a genius.
Yep, DS were a hell of a band.
3. Blue probably won't respond, because he's so offended by the remark.* *humorous comment
4. C'mon... I've waited years to see a blue movie.
5.
I've already got specs in mind, but I'm torn on who to give them to, to make my dream come true, I'm even considering FCS!
That would be utter folly :-) All this time you're procrastinating, Adrian could already be instructing his Maruzczelves to make your dream a reality... And if it makes you feel better, send me the few grand you're saving by not going to the CS. I'll even give you a receipt.
6. Here's mine, kind-of. No pedals - all that's not covered is my TKS S212 / S112 cab. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLyBAFiJRJY&t=703s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jq64dgNIrD8
7. Easy. Speak to Adrian at Maruszczyk and get the exact P you've always wanted.
8. I spent the best part of a year turning the world upside-down, trying to find one of these. GLWTS.
9. I'm still loving mine after having them on ages and ages. They've still got the growl I need from rounds, and it doesn't seem to be disappearing any time soon. Great strings.
10.
You need to read Neil's books to get an insight into his character: curmudgeonly, shy, passionate, curious etc. I have The DVD of beyond the lighted stage to watch yet, I did enjoy their tour DVDs though. 'We couldn't have done it without the soup!'
Yeah, I've read 'em all. The shy / passionate thing I get, but the whole 'Every show is the ultimate test of endurance and ability...' mantra is pretty tedious. You're a drummer, man.
11.
The more recent 'Time stand still' is a different story though, actually quite sad to watch if you're a die hard fan.
Yep, it certainly is. Neil came across as even more self-important than I expected in that.
12. ...Beyond the Lighted Stage is on Netflix. Well worth a watch for committed and casual fans.
13. Martin will let you try the YI200 if you pop along to the workshop. Take your cabs.
14.
I've spent good money on lightweight gear and have convinced myself (I didn't take much convincing) that I am totally happy with my class D amp and neo cab sound. It is entirely possible that a 60lb amp and a 100lb cab might give me a sound that I prefer very slightly, yes.
It's not that black-and-white. There are various shades of weight inbetween...
15. Knock yoursel' oot.
16.
IS NO-ONE LISTENING? I said that I don't like flats. I have nickel rounds on any bass with strings! HOWEVER, even though I don't like anything about flats (feel, tension, sound) I do like the 750Ns. Most of the posts here rant about their pet hates with flats. I agree with all of them - that's the whole point. Am I going mad ...
Thread title fail.
17. The IV's are actually rarer than the V's... they were built more recently, and the hardware was a bit more refined. I loved mine, but I just fancied a change.
18. Classic flats - they belong on a P. They're definitely warmer and less clangy than Chromes (well, as clangy as flats ever get), but loads going in in the mids. They feel smooth once they wear in, and they're not too stiff or floppy. I would still be using them, but I currently use GHS Precision flats which are a bit cheaper, and IMO almost identical.
19.
Now I'm looking for a non class-D that doesn't weigh a ton.
You're welcome.
20. Mine will probably outlive me.
21. ...and here's my contribution to the thread. This one drives me MENKLE.
22.
We still speak much of the original language and pronunciations. Geordie is not just an accent , < comma its an ancient language.
*it's
23. Definitely give the Maruszczyks a look...
24.
Karen Carpenter was a drummer apparently. I didn't know that.
Not just A drummer. She was usually THE drummer. A bloody good one, too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ie1WWWOxhMs
