1.
"OK, it's real simple 4/4 thing guys. It's in B major, verse and chorus just alternate between chords I and IV, two bars each. Jim, just play sparse roots and fifths on the verse, but when we hit the chorus can you play continuous eighth notes?"
Crikey. I'm glad I'm not in that band.
2. In my case, given the musical circles I move in, I'll concede that if I'd learned to read, I might perhaps be doing more deps in function bands than I do. A lucky escape, I reckon. Bit of course if I want to do more gigs like that, I'll put the effort in to learn. Theory? Again, in my case, hardly anyone I work with bothers with the minutiae. We just write songs and parts, and play 'em. Some are theoretical geniuses, and I don't see them gaining any great advantage for what we do. I guess if I wanted to do gigs like what Bilbo does, I wouldn't last 30 seconds.
3. You just need to paste the YouTube URL, but remove the 's' from https;//, like so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doSxxc3Mu-4
4.
I hear a lot of bass players playing a minor (or pentatonic/blues) run where a major one would be much more appropriate.
Presumably they don't have a very good ear...?
5. This is one that comes up quite often. The general gist is that everyone's different - I'm probably similar to you, yet I don't feel hindered.
6. Honestly - just play what's on the record. You don't really need to write anything.
7.
Where are you based? I'm on mobile and can't see.
The answer is either Handbox, Maruszczyk or TKS.
8. Get something from Maruszczyk, and do something nice with your change from £1500.
9. I must be missing something here... why are you writing a line for a song that already has one?
10.
I noticed that on the SE Bass Bash videos, John Bentley's bass is "clacking" away on almost every note. I would expect extraneous noises to disappear in the mix on a gig.
Thanks my thoughts as well.
11.
well...
Helloooooooooo! I wonder how much something similar would be from the Fender CS? Would anyone like to hazard a guess?
12.
Andy Partridge isn't impressed: https://twitter.com/...633659697987585
I wonder if he'd say that if he was on it..?
13. Interesting stuff. (WARNING - some of the accompanying muzak is dreadful). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xADoIFoKa0Q
14. I saw this in Milwaukee in 1964. It changed my life.
15. What is this 'on the coast' thing, anyway? How is that limiting?
16.
Take your pick: https://www.public-p...k/jake/4-string
^^^^ This.
17. If it looks like this one, I'll take it. Cash waiting.
18.
Why do people who live on a coast, or in a remote region, consistently put up their items for sale and refuse point blank to post them? Top tip....a lot of your potential buyers live too far away to get to you without difficulty and fish don't play bass. Sorry for pointing this out but it may help you when you're wondering why your stuff doesn't sell.
Packing stuff well, and then shipping it, is a bit of a clart on that requires a time and effort. Some people just don't have the time. Simple as that.
19. Leszek's just sent me some pics of the new batch of R-400 he's working on..
20. Is this at gig volume, or when you're jamming along in the house?
21.
I don't know, just normal playing. As I said, no noise with my other bass, same strength.
Same type of strings?
22.
Yes, they might have been better!
Absolutely. We have no way of knowing.
