1. A fair cop - just woken up, teeny tiny phone screen, no glasses, etc. :-)
2. *whistles nonchantly*
3. ...and yes, before someone points it out, if I learned to read music or at least TAB I could explain it more clearly. It's a fair cop :-) .....and I've just remembered the solo / middle 8. I'll have a look later if I think on.
4. Okey doke... the kids are occupied for 10 minutes, so here's an approximation of the bass part.. and it is only that!) Sorry it's not particularly accurate or thorough, but hopefully it's enough to get you started. Bruce Palmer was a fairly unorthodox player, so some of his note choices are a bit off-the-wall. For the main riff he plays something like: D | D | A | G# | C | C# | D Hope this helps... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syyLBSFm2pg
5. IMO, the bass part for 'Tea In the Sahara' encapsulates the 'less is more' ethos. It's especially remarkable given the prevailing trends of the time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcEumfNE9vM
6.
For those of you only using minimal PA - any of you using an SVT Classic with two large cabs as your bass backline?
I've always found an SVT and one fridge to be overkill, never mind two* *Disclaimer: I the bands I'm in rarely ROCK OUT.
7. If I get a chance tonight, I'll have a look...
8. I'm quite happy to gig with just backline if the circumstances allow it. Quite often, bands use a bliddy big PA in pubs when there's just no need for it.
9. I'm going to struggle to be convinced that the power stage in, for example, a commonly-available 900w micro bass head genuinely puts out as much as a pro-audio equivalent power amp. When it comes to playing bass, it's not about how loud it is. It's what it's doing with the volume that counts.
10. If you zoom in, it looks like the S/N has been photoshopped out..?
11.
If it works its way north via Warwick I'll give her a warm welcome!

If it makes its way further south I'll give it a temporary home!
I'll keep you both in mind - ta!
12. I loved The Soul Cages. Great album with fab songs and lyrics. I stayed with him in varying degrees for Ten Summoner's Tales and Mercury Falling, but Brand New Day lost me. Dull tunes peppered with pointless blippy blop noises. There were some good tunes on The Last Ship, mind.
13. I have no problems with artists giving it a bit of politics at gigs, as long as it doesn't forgo the music.
14. I had a single 1126 for a little while, and was able to A/B it with the S112. The 1126 definitely sounded bigger, with more headroom, but it was much wider-sounding - not a particularly good match for the big-booty'd MESA Walkabout I was using at the time. The S112 'speaks' more, and was (and still is) more suited to my tastes.
15. Hey gang The Red Fighter head is currently down in Berkshire (Bracknell / Farnborough-ish) - would anyone local to there like to babysit it for a bit, just for fun? Let me know if you do...
16. Bought a brand-new MESA M-Pulse. Didn't like it. Sold it. Cried all the way to the bank.
17.
i don't think so Michael
Oh, OK - I wasn't sure how to respond as it didn't seem relevant..! No successful musician is going to be whiter-than-white. They'll all have enjoyed spending their money at some point. Also - Sting has a family, and friends. It's not jut one bloke travelling with a (man in a a) suitcase. I doubt many of the houses are empty.
18.
who gives a
Was that aimed at me..?
19.
As long as he is not acting or talking about world conservation issues ( a joke when he owns so much property round the world - one property should suffice),
He can have as many houses as he likes, surely? He probably employs a load of people to look after 'em, too.
20. If you're unsure as to whether you need a Precision, I've made this handy flowchart to help. You're welcome.
21. I've played a couple of the Butlins weekenders at the big hall in Skeggy and they've been fab - great audiences who are there for the music, and well run. I've also had the misfortune to do a few holiday camp gigs at Skeggy and beyond. Good fun until the 'WTaF?' novelty wears off.
22.
Location?
Hull, according to his account info.
23.
Hi , I must say that as far as I heard its not possible. I heard from another Retailer who was eventually gonna have his brand that it was flat out refused when he asked.
In my mind I was thinking of the shop, rather than the Factory. That would be a nice enough visit..
24. Nice to hear Jonathan King getting a nice welcome. Actually, I'm now having flashbacks to Jimmy Saville making an appearance at Knebworth in '92. *shudder*
