1. Hmm... vids aren't displaying properly. Here's the link.
2. Here's a video review I've made of my two. Apologies - I forgot to put my posh phone voice on, but hopefully you can all understand me :-D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jq64dgNIrD8
3.
I doubt he went near a wolf. It looks like a photoshop job to me.
Howwwwwwwwl
4. I've had two of these (Don't ask). Lovely things that don't have the whiff of 'mass produced' about them that you get with Fender and even the CS models these days. Enjoy it.
5. I've had good results with the Scarlett. It's a bit keen to clip so I have to keep an eye on it, but it works fine for my needs..
6. I haven't read the thread, but I love the tune. It's a great jazz anthem, and no-one cares if the bass part is shabby.
7. Nice to see a couple of new suggestions here - the usual suspects have been done to death on FB etc. Here's my nomination, released only last year: LOLz
8. There wasn't enough going on above the boom - in the low-mids - for me. It felt all top-and-bottom. IME, obv.
9. They are truly marvellous, aren't they? The perfect live cabs, IMO. I just couldn't get on with the Streamliner in general. To me it sounded like a big bag'o'wind.
10. I do pro gigs and hobbyist gigs, and I've got a 'proper' job. It's just gigging, innit.
11.
That would be this one then: Nice to meet you Muzz - traded my TH500 for his Walkabout and had a good chat. I'm slowly morphing into WOT! Following on from our chat about the Delanos I was coming on here to ask for advice about alternatives, they're too harsh for me so I think swapping them out is on the cards. At the moment I'm considering the Maruszcyzk house pups, haussels or maybe asking Mark to see if he'll do me a set of limelights (love the sound from those). Does anyone have any advice/opinions?
The Haussels are mellower than the Maruszczyks. The latter are also pretty hot, too. They both sound great IMO.
12.
Actually got to lay hands on one last night, (it was a sunburst P5), and the build quality was exemplary: certainly as good as a good example of the real thing from the US, if not better, and delightfully, erm, light. Wasn't too keen on the Delanos, but that's just me. Have just spend waaaayyyyyy too much time going through every pic on the site, and unfortunately there's nothing that appeals visually, but again that's just me, so I can say as someone who won't own one (and therefore without axe to grind) that I was very impressed by the quality of the one I played.
Better than US, I'd say. I can't fault either of mine, and knowing they were built by people gives them the edge (IMO, of course!). Just out of curiously - what sort of style / config would appeal to you?
13.
Had a few class D amps, markbass and genz benz. Even the supposedly mighty streamliner 900 sounded like heavy plastic compared to my SS and Walkabout mainly. I am convinced that the widespread generation of smps-class d amps are not suited for bass guitar amplification, whilst being a contemporary standard for FOH and other applications, but only because obtaining 5000 watts of pure class AB is now unacceptable. Massive weight, I have zero doubts that a conventional high power SS stage would be better even for sound reinforcement, but in these days carrying lightweight high power gear has raised the bar forever. For bass...still no. Waiting to try the newer class D dudes like B amp, glock etc etc but I'm so tired of these anemic boxes that I have no urge to do it
Seriously - check out the HandBox R-400. It made me sell my Walkabout.
14.
If it is Geddy they're not the final edits as per the finished album tracks. Maybe it's just the best single take they had plus some overdubs to complete it. Apparently reading the comments it's what Rush supplied for Garage band.
Can you provide specific examples of differences?
15.
How do you find Maru Basses in comparison with your Vintage Fenders? (You can tell I've been away a while - Just found out what a Limelight was a couple of weeks ago)
My '71 P is gathering dust. These feel just like it (the neck profile was specced specially), and they're lighter.
16. I'm not a big JB fan, but I quite like it. The Bill Oddie connection is the icing on the cake.
17.
I don't think they're original. It's not him. There are some on YouTube that are though.
These are totally him.
18. You just have to keep doing it until muscle memory kicks in. You'll probably find at fist that the bass suffers while you concentrate on singing, but eventually it'll come back up to par.
19. Cheers! It's my teeny Ibanez Promethean combo with a nice mic on it. Really happy with the sound.
20.
Are you changing the name of the band to The Caffrey?
Not at the moment.. there's still two left :-)
21. Something we just recorded... incidentally, one of the brothers has left, so I've picked up his vocals. It's not been easy..!
