1.
First impressions; might buy a 2nd one.
Welcome to my world :-) This is beautiful.. I LOVE that finish. And I agree about the knobs - it's the only thing about the Elwoods I'm not keen on.
2. Seems like a decent bloke. Enjoyed it.
3.
Just pulled the trigger on a R-400!
Fab! You won't regret it. SO great.
4.
That's a Sousaphone. Horrible things.
Bonnie Raitt's bass player disagrees at 1m55s into this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nid-yKTF0gQ
5.
Apparently it was done on a harmonica with a lot of processing.
...which, from the sounds of it, was then wiped from the master tape and re-dubbed using a typical 80's synth.
6. I don't - I'll generally tweak my (passive) tone knob for the song, but the EQ stays pretty much flat. FOH is another thing - a lot of engineers seem to EQ flats as if they were rounds, which is a shame.
7. FWIW, a while ago I looked into whether a MESA M-Pulse 600 could be converted to run at 230v. The answer was a resounding 'no'. I'm not hopeful, but fingers crossed for ya. I must say though, that's quite an oversight...!
8.
Any idea if the Fortec 700T (the twin channel Ampeg/Fender mashup) that you showed pics of is likely to make production WoT? Interested to see a price on that one...
I just asked him - there are no plans for it to go into production. He says there's not enough demand for the bigger, pricier heads. :-(
9.
You won't be disappointed. Maybe all the grief led you to the right place. Roll on November for you methinks.
Yep. I'm well past the honeymoon period with mine, and I still get misty-eyed when I pick them up. Fantastic things.
10. Hi Marty I've just emailed Leszek, and he can't find any emails from you. He's asked if you can try again using [email protected]...
11. I think Bass Central are in Orlando...
12.
Thanks wateroftyne. I tried to order an R-400 from the website, and it wouldn't work, kept saying there are none. Sent another email four days ago, still no reply. I'm picking I'm gonna give up on this exercise very shortly.
That's frustrating for you. I'll ask him to check his junk mail folder. He's had a similar problem before, I think...
13.
Without wishing to derail the OPs thread, what reservations to people have with class D amps. Assuming that it's nothing to do do with the weight and portability off the class D what other issues do you have with solid state or valve amps
Loads of threads on this already. Here's a starter for ten.
14.
What about the Handbox amps? WOT and I both have threads about them in this section of the forum. Lovely straight forward eq section. Here's a pic
Definitely consider this. It's a beautiful thing.
15. I'm not convinced by Class D either, but lightweight is good. So I went with this.
16. So I finally got to give the Red Fighter a run out last night. It has two 500w analogue amps in it, only one of which I was using last night, and it just sounds huge. I haven't had much chance to play with the gain structure or OK yet, but it felt more solid state than the R-400 - I imagine this will change if I cranked the input or hit the crunch switch. It slammed through my 2x12 - if I had two 4ohm cabs I'd be able to run both sides of the amp, which would be ridiculous. It's a big beast, but it's not actually that heavy. I imagine it would be a pretty easy lift once it's racked up. And the construction quality is, as I've mentioned before, MESA standard. No cheap plastic or parts. Just solid quality. Oh, and did I mention the pretty lights?
17. Keep offers to PM please. Thank you.
18. Fab, isn't it? It's generally regarded to be the real deal...
19. It's been a while since we talked about this one. It's come up for air again... https://www.instagram.com/p/BHTWEaUDfi6/
20. ...he's just dropped me a note on FB to say shipping to NZ will be around 150EUR. Drop him a message at the weekend if you'd like any more info. :-)
21.
That.
Them.
22.
Hmmm... I've emailed HandBox twice now to acertain what they will charge to freight an R-400 to New Zealand, and no reply. Not very good in the PR dept methinks. I see they use FedEx, and I believe FedEx to be quite expensive, hence I need to see if it's gonna be worth it, or not.
Leszek is on holiday at the moment. He's back this weekend, I think...
23. I had no idea Raven Labs and SWR were one in the same! I had a Raven Labs P preamp. It was fab.
24. It's been quietly whisked off to Fender's brand gulag, I guess...
25. Hey gang Leszek's just sent me pics of the new M Bass 500 lightweight head. I don't know anything about it at the mo, but I thought I'd share...
