"Classic" songs that are used for adverts
wateroftyne replied to TheGreek's topic in General Discussion
One of the worst offenders for dropped beats, although I totally understand why they have to do it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFtMYevHeXQ -

Heft - from heavy amp, or from lightweight amp & pedals?
wateroftyne replied to Lozz196's topic in Amps and Cabs
I could certainly get more bass ("Thump"? "Heft"? "Oomph"?) from my amp and cabs if I wanted to,
That's the thing - when I think of 'heft'. I'm not thinking about bass. It's a solid, low-mid backbone. It's all so confusing :-) -
He doesn't care. He just likes being a bully.
Sorry if I've missed this further up the thread, but how much do these retail for? I might be interested in trying this out at some point if that's ok. Do you know what frequencies the two switchable mid controls are set at?
I'm not sure about the exact frequencies - this chart should give an idea: There's no harm dropping Leszek an email if you want more specifics - he's been very helpful with his responses to me. As for price, I think 700EUR, but I guess that might change depending on your choice of case, etc. And you're welcome to borrow it when you're up here next. :-)
Wasn't that this one: http://basschat.co.u...es/page__hl__tv ?
That's for a different show - I think it was this one: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/270475-bbc-show-looking-for-best-part-time-band/
Loving the look of these, the simplicity reminds me of the little bastard. Don't suppose anyone around London has one and willing to let me try it out do they...?
Gary Mac has one (see other HandBox thread). I believe he's west of the big city, but I don't know if that's anywhere near you...?
At the end of the day, can there ever be a "best" at anything related to music? It's all so subjective after all.
I think that's the crux of it (and Midge's comments, too). It's just a bit of entertainment really, and a reminder to a nation that's largely force-fed X-Factor's Got Talent that there's a huge scene out there ready to discover.
That's like wot I do. And it sorted out the bass sound on the Led Zep O2 DVD too. Just playing that DVD through the tele on it's own sounded like JPJ had stayed at home.
It still does when I listen to it on my system - JPJ is almost MIA. The only bass I can hear is the P on In My Time Of Dying...!
Great show. And well done Midge for dissing the mediocrity of today's pop music.
That was a great bit of dialogue. Good on them for leaving it in.
So you didn't end up going with the R400 after all? Or is this not "your" amp? I like the look without the somewhat clunky case a lot better in any event.
No - I don't need this much power. The R-400 is more than enough for me. :-) Leszek sent me the Red Fighter just to try out, and offer to others to try.

Unfortunately, both my gigs this weekend have been cancelled :-( A pal of mine has used it for a couple of gigs instead - I'll ask her to chip in. I'll do samples ASAP.

Bombskare & The Voodoo Groove chaps are awesome. It's on the iPlayer if you missed it.
I do recommend that you try before you buy however as these basses are surprisingly heavy for what you would imagine them to be. Mine weighs in at exactly 10lbs.
Yeah... I picked one up in a shop once and couldn't believe it.
Ok, poor choice of words. But I still don't know why it's only his products that get this amount of polarising discussion.
If I had to take a guess, I'd say the marketing language is pretty bold & aggressive*... which I suspect is more of a magnet to critics. *I'm not suggesting for one minute that it's untrue, just bold & aggressive.

NAD Handbox 400 like WOT's but with lights.
Is this valve front and digi back?

Yes the pre features 3 x 12AX7's
I'm not sure if I've read this wrong, but just a little correction (hope you don't mind, Gary!) - the power section is class A/B. -

wateroftyne replied to gary mac's topic in Amps and Cabs
I can't believe yours has got lights. I'm insanely jealous. :-( Nice case, too - that's probably similar to what I'll be going for, to match my cab. Did it come with a soft case? -
You're too young to remember that, Michael!
I'd like to think so... ha ha. I'm sure I've heard it recently... -
For the rockers (despite not being French) Plastic Bertrand's Ca plane pour moi fills a floor and so does any hit by French band Telephone (eg, Ca, c'est vraiment toi ) For a more dancey audiences, Voyage voyage is the Uptown funk equivalent. These are all classic hits here and unless you have a very young audience, will go down a storm. Of course, you also have the option of spicing up some old standards. We do a reggae version of Je ne regrette rien and the Grace Jones version of La Vie en rose, both by Piaf. Although our singer sings these in French, there are English versions of both so not hard to do if you're over here for a one off gig. For slightly more modern UK and U.S floor fillers, Uptown funk, I got a feeling, Song No 2 (for some strange reason) Rolling in the deep and A.W's version of Valerie. The French are also huge AC/DC and Creedence fans. Also anything by the Stones. I recognise that Plastic Bertrand tune from somewhere... -

Sorry to gatecrash, but I'm genuinely intrigued.. could one of you post an example of a French equivalent of a UK function band floor filler? Like a Killers equivalent, or something? Stuff like this interests me.. -
It's quite similar , spec wise , to my Ampeg SVT6 Pro which also sounds monsterous ! looks like it has selctable mid frequencies with cut and boost ? Sweet looking amp.
Yeah.. I need to spend a bit of time with the knobs and switches. I'm not sure what they all do yet..! Christ on a bike. I've just powered it up for a 'noodle' in the house, and it's insane. Proper, steely IN YOUR FACE notes. I'm going to have fun on Saturday. Build quality is impeccable. Oh, it glows red too

Fab! As it happens, the postman has just been here too. And left me one of these... What a beast... I'll use it on Saturday night.
