1. Lots of great stuff out there. The Mesa Walkabout is a great rock & blues head. Take a look at the TKS 'S' range for cabs.
2. It's a great tune - the production is very of the time, though. It's a shame we'll never get to hear Otis singing it with a crap-hot band behind him.
3.
Lake Placid Blue with binding neck and blocks and a very light relic I dont think i have seen a limelight yet in this colour, so really looking forward!
That's exactly what I would order if I was to get another. Looking forward to seeing it!
4. The Zoom Q2 is canny. The camera isn't great (super-narrow viewing angle), and I miss the 360-degree field of my old audio-only Zoom, but for the money I can't complain. Here's a clip I did on mine... the vox are buried as the recorder was behind the PA and the band are on IEM's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i03gdUnWrrE
5. Hey, if you've got the scratch and you're prepared to blow it on a bass as fugly-looking as this because you want to sound old-school, you have my admiration and sympathy in equal measure. Mind you, for $4000, I'd expect the pickup covers to be fashioned from unicorn horn.
6.
chances are that not as many people would turn up though, festivals are organised to make money, we're slaves to the paying public
Absolutely.
7.
Hey I've just come up with a brilliant idea for people who don't like the idea of 'fake festivals' or tribute bands in general. It's a fairly extreme idea and might appear to be pretty left-field, but I'll try it anyway and you can see what you think. OK, here goes. If you don't like the idea of a 'fake festival' or a tribute band gig... (and here comes the clever bit) ...don't go to one. Pretty radical stuff I know, but I reckon it could work.
They could also - and I appreciate this is a radical concept - arrange their own festival, only featuring bands that play original material.
8. The Promethean head (which, as mentioned, this is a rebranded version of) is probably the best-sounding micro head I've had. A few years ago I pulled mine out of the combo and used it as my main amp for a few gigs... and immediately put my TC RH450 up for sale. GLWTS.
9. Musicians having fun, playing songs they like? To people who are enjoying them? Damn them all. Damn them all to hell!* *this is sarcasm
10. Lovely! Don't worry about them having noticeably less lows than the 1126. What they do have is shedloads of natural, useful lows. And if you turn the bass knob up on your amp, they'll cope. Enjoy 'em!
11.
How long does Adrian take to respond to emails?
Usually quickly, but I get the impression he's pretty busy sometimes.
12.
That's Sean Hurley.
Great player.
13. Dunno if this TB post helps - there's probably more in the thread somewhere. http://www.talkbass.com/threads/aguilar-official-tone-hammer-500-3-8lbs-500w-megathread.717712/page-92#post-13429280
14.
I think 7 of the tunes have some merit. Assuming this is supposed to be funny, I don't really understand the humour. The insults and rants aren't even clever - which would help - just random horrible things to say. Whatever the guy is being paid it is too much.
It's got 208,000 Facebook shares. TBH, he could probably ask for a pay rise.
15. I've never understood the criticism of Hotel California: it's a great tune, well played, well sung, well arranged, well produced, and a biting social commentary. The list is just a daft bit'o'fun.
16.
Michael out of interest, is the bridge pickup a single coil, or hum bucker? I'm interested in getting a 5 string PJ and have heard excellent stuff about these Maruszczyk's, I had been looking for a 5 string with soap bars or dual hum buckers, PJ seems to suit the sound I'm after more though.
On my 'burst, it's a stacked humbucker. On the Oly, it's a switchable dual / single coil. In dual coil mode, it's fantastically poky...
17. By the way, in anyone in the Tyneside-ish area wants to have a lend of either of mine, you're welcome.
18.
Is there customs duty / VAT / any other taxes that need to be considered for these basses. Poland are in the EU are they not?
They're coming from Germany, and in any event - no shipping, customs, VAT... Nowt.
19.
WOT are you still selling your white Jake?
I am. I'm not trying too hard at the moment, mind :-)
20. It's great stuff, but the price does make me wince. One of the daftest things I ever did - back in the days before kids when I had a few quid rattling around my pockets - was buy a brand-new MESA M-Pulse 600. How I cried when I decided to move it on, and took a severe financial beating. Anyway, they deserve their great reputation even if it's been tarnished a bit by reports of flaky Prodigies and Strategies. And if I'm honest, I'm a little bit disappointed they've make the move into 'generic class-D head' territory. I liked it when they were a bit more unique. But they'll sell millions of 'em.
