1. If that is the colour scheme you're looking at, give this a look. It might save you a few quid...
2.
They claim this will match older amps. I also like the fact we have a company saying that class d doesn't match older tech (till now apparently). From Darkglass Since bassists adopted them, class D amplifiers were seen as convenient version of much bigger and heavier, yet better sounding, amps. Most musicians were happy with compromising sound and power by saving money, weight and space. So a year ago we set ourselves up to end these compromises. We wanted the best sounding amplifier period: louder, more versatile and articulate. It just happens to be one of the lightest, most compact and elegantly designed bass amplifiers out there. Fully designed and built in Finland. We present you the Microtubes 700."
I'm assuming it's the same power module that's in the latest batch of Micros - The Mesa Subway, etc.
3. We've done this a couple of times already :-)
4.
That's only half the story...
*squint* Do I detect the hand of TKS in this...?
5. Personally, if I got formal notification that it's been reported stolen (i.e. confirmation from the polis), I'd send it back for a full refund plus expenses. Until then, I'd assume they just got a better offer, and keep it.
6. Theft Act 1968 1968 CHAPTER 60 An Act to revise the law of England and Wales as to theft and similar or associated offences, and in connection therewith to make provision as to criminal proceedings by one party to a marriage against the other, and to make certain amendments extending beyond England and Wales in the Post Office Act 1953 and other enactments; and for other purposes connected therewith. [26th July 1968] Modifications etc. (not altering text) C1Act amended as to mode of trial by Magistrates' Courts Act 1980 (c. 43, SIF 82), Sch. 1 para. 28 C2By Criminal Justice Act 1991 (c. 53, SIF 39:1), s. 101(1), Sch. 12 para. 23; S.I. 1991/2208, art. 2(1), Sch.1 it is provided (14.10.1991) that in relation to any time before the commencement of s. 70 of that 1991 Act (which came into force on 1.10.1992 by S.I. 1992/333, art. 2(2), Sch. 2) references in any enactment amended by that 1991 Act, to youth courts shall be construed as references to juvenile courts. Commencement Information I1Act wholly in force at 1.1.1969, see s. 35(1) Definition of “theft” 1Basic definition of theft. (1) A person is guilty of theft if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it; and “thief” and “steal” shall be construed accordingly. (2) It is immaterial whether the appropriation is made with a view to gain, or is made for the thief’s own benefit. (3) The five following sections of this Act shall have effect as regards the interpretation and operation of this section (and, except as otherwise provided by this Act, shall apply only for purposes of this section). Annotations:Posted Image Modifications etc. (not altering text) C3S. 1(1) applied (25.8.2000) by 2000 c. 6, ss. 148(8), 168 2“Dishonestly” (1) A person’s appropriation of property belonging to another is not to be regarded as dishonest— (a) if he appropriates the property in the belief that he has in law the right to deprive the other of it, on behalf of himself or of a third person; or ( if he appropriates the property in the belief that he would have the other’s consent if the other knew of the appropriation and the circumstances of it; or © (except where the property came to him as trustee or personal representative) if he appropriates the property in the belief that the person to whom the property belongs cannot be discovered by taking reasonable steps. (2) A person’s appropriation of property belonging to another may be dishonest notwithstanding that he is willing to pay for the property. 3“Appropriates”. (1) Any assumption by a person of the rights of an owner amounts to an appropriation, and this includes, where he has come by the property (innocently or not) without stealing it, any later assumption of a right to it by keeping or dealing with it as owner. (2) Where property or a right or interest in property is or purports to be transferred for value to a person acting in good faith, no later assumption by him of rights which he believed himself to be acquiring shall, by reason of any defect in the transferor’s title, amount to theft of the property. 4“Property”. (1) “Property” includes money and all other property, real or personal, including things in action and other intangible property. (2) A person cannot steal land, or things forming part of land and severed from it by him or by his directions, except in the following cases, that it to say— (a) when he is a trustee or personal representative, or is authorised by power of attorney, or as liquidator of a company, or otherwise, to sell or dispose of land belonging to another, and he appropriates the land or anything forming part of it by dealing with it in breach of the confidence reposed in him; or ( when he is not in possession of the land and appropriates anything forming part of the land by severing it or causing it to be severed, or after it has been severed; or © when, being in possession of the land under a tenancy, he appropriates the whole or part of any fixture or structure let to be used with the land. For purposes of this subsection “land” does not include incorporeal hereditaments; “tenancy” means a tenancy for years or any less period and includes an agreement for such a tenancy, but a person who after the end of a tenancy remains in possession as statutory tenant or otherwise is to be treated as having possession under the tenancy, and “let” shall be construed accordingly. (3) A person who picks mushrooms growing wild on any land, or who picks flowers, fruit or foliage from a plant growing wild on any land, does not (although not in possession of the land) steal what he picks, unless he does it for reward or for sale or other commercial purpose. For purposes of this subsection “mushroom” includes any fungus, and “plant” includes any shrub or tree. (4) Wild creatures, tamed or untamed, shall be regarded as property; but a person cannot steal a wild creature not tamed nor ordinarily kept in captivity, or the carcase of any such creature, unless either it has been reduced into possession by or on behalf of another person and possession of it has not since been lost or abandoned, or another person is in course of reducing it into possession. 5“Belonging to another”. (1) Property shall be regarded as belonging to any person having possession or control of it, or having in it any proprietary right or interest (not being an equitable interest arising only from an agreement to transfer or grant an interest). (2) Where property is subject to a trust, the persons to whom it belongs shall be regarded as including any person having a right to enforce the trust, and an intention to defeat the trust shall be regarded accordingly as an intention to deprive of the property any person having that right. (3) Where a person receives property from or on account of another, and is under an obligation to the other to retain and deal with that property or its proceeds in a particular way, the property or proceeds shall be regarded (as against him) as belonging to the other. (4) Where a person gets property by another’s mistake, and is under an obligation to make restoration (in whole or in part) of the property or its proceeds or of the value thereof, then to the extent of that obligation the property or proceeds shall be regarded (as against him) as belonging to the person entitled to restoration, and an intention not to make restoration shall be regarded accordingly as an intention to deprive that person of the property or proceeds. (5) Property of a corporation sole shall be regarded as belonging to the corporation notwithstanding a vacancy in the corporation. 6“With the intention of permanently depriving the other of it”. (1) A person appropriating property belonging to another without meaning the other permanently to lose the thing itself is nevertheless to be regarded as having the intention of permanently depriving the other of it if his intention is to treat the thing as his own to dispose of regardless of the other’s rights; and a borrowing or lending of it may amount to so treating it if, but only if, the borrowing or lending is for a period and in circumstances making it equivalent to an outright taking or disposal. (2) Without prejudice to the generality of subsection (1) above, where a person, having possession or control (lawfully or not) of property belonging to another, parts with the property under a condition as to its return which he may not be able to perform, this (if done for purposes of his own and without the other’s authority) amounts to treating the property as his own to dispose of regardless of the other’s rights.
7. They should have called it the 'Dropping like flies' tour. I bet that would have shifted a few more tickets.
8. LOL This drummer is at the wrong GIG
9. Can you get Netflix on it? I'm interested... until I hear it's got the same power module everyone else uses.
10. Hopefully it'll be better than this travesty... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVOuaIZgFWI
11. It's an odd one. PG's band are pretty unconventional, so I assume they'll be taking two bands out with them. But then, I'd like to hear PG with Sting's band behind him. That would be pretty cool.
12. I've just heard this. Gutted. I knew he was ill, but I didn't see this coming. :-(
13. For no other reason than 'just because', here's an awesome cover of Moribund the Bergermeister I've just found on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0LL5VehBKM
14. How the heck have they managed to do that...? Fab.
15.
Hey, I know this has a "40"mm " nut width but would you say this is a jazz profile neck , I've been considering a maruszczyk for a little while and this would fit the bill quite closely i am just concerned as im very used to a 38mm fender type neck ? synth
Hello! Hmm - it's not a chunky handful like my other Jake, or my 71 P. It's probably medium-narrow for a P...
16.
deeper and warmer flats to me are either LaBella Deep Talkin Flats or GHS Precision Flats. Bear in mind with flats, they last for ages so although initial outlay may be £40 or so, it will last you at least a year which isn`t a bad return - just think of us poor roundwound users on a set a month!
I'd go with either of these too. You can buy the GHS Precision flats for about £22 direct from Lakland.
17. Gentle nudge for this - not long to go!
18. I suppose I should give this a bump - I'm still enjoying playing it, but it's still for sale. :-)
19. Lots of great stuff out there. The Mesa Walkabout is a great rock & blues head. Take a look at the TKS 'S' range for cabs.
20. It's a great tune - the production is very of the time, though. It's a shame we'll never get to hear Otis singing it with a crap-hot band behind him.
21.
Lake Placid Blue with binding neck and blocks and a very light relic I dont think i have seen a limelight yet in this colour, so really looking forward!
That's exactly what I would order if I was to get another. Looking forward to seeing it!
22. The Zoom Q2 is canny. The camera isn't great (super-narrow viewing angle), and I miss the 360-degree field of my old audio-only Zoom, but for the money I can't complain. Here's a clip I did on mine... the vox are buried as the recorder was behind the PA and the band are on IEM's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i03gdUnWrrE
23. Hey, if you've got the scratch and you're prepared to blow it on a bass as fugly-looking as this because you want to sound old-school, you have my admiration and sympathy in equal measure. Mind you, for $4000, I'd expect the pickup covers to be fashioned from unicorn horn.
24.
chances are that not as many people would turn up though, festivals are organised to make money, we're slaves to the paying public
Absolutely.
25.
Hey I've just come up with a brilliant idea for people who don't like the idea of 'fake festivals' or tribute bands in general. It's a fairly extreme idea and might appear to be pretty left-field, but I'll try it anyway and you can see what you think. OK, here goes. If you don't like the idea of a 'fake festival' or a tribute band gig... (and here comes the clever bit) ...don't go to one. Pretty radical stuff I know, but I reckon it could work.
They could also - and I appreciate this is a radical concept - arrange their own festival, only featuring bands that play original material.
