1. You can unscrew a couple of the poles from the humbucker on a Tele to make it nearly useable...
 2. Bump for this weekend...!
 3.
This link takes you straight to the "home" page.
Whoops.. it's a bit out-of-date now. Here's the correct link, and I've corrected it in Ped's OP: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?app=forums&module=forums&section=rules&f=19
 4. Hey Mr. Beedster! Any idea of the weight? Thank you.
 5.
Thanks Wolverinebass! Doug from Darkglass said the Darglass cabs so far are 210 and 410s. I know Tommy has been testing 10s, but he wasn't convinced I think. But the Doug said somewhere (FB, Talkbass, can't remember) that they where quite heavy cabinets. I can't imagine Tommy building a heavy cabinet. So my guess it isn't a TKS Darkglass collaboration. However much I think it would be cool.
Ah, false alarm... they look pretty, though!
 6. I'll be here until I drop, thanks to my selective use of the 'turn off notifications ' button. I highly recommend it as a sanity preserver :-)
 7.
Only "issue" for me is constantly thinking about a 1 box solution, just to save on trips per night. Whilst both cabs can easily be carried at the same time, there are still usually a lot of (punter blocked) doors to negotiate
This is the route I took - I started with a pair of S112s, and the thought of 'one box' drove me to the S212 (and an S112 for smaller gigs). It's as good as the S112 stack, but the height of the S112 stack was a nice luxury.
 8.
No. But that is because there is too much life in my life to leave me the enthusiasm to. I like new music when it bumps into me, though.
This is me, also.
 9.
Were both Sting's band and Paul Simon's band there, or was there one uber-band for the whole lot?
Both bands. Yep, Sting and Bakithi, sometimes at the same time. I never saw it myself, but I wish I had...
 10. My Limelight J was fab. I'm not sure what a Bravewood would offer over and above it, apart from a finish that looks like it had been nibbled by gerbils. I've never been a fan of Bravewood relicing, but I'm open to be persuaded otherwise.
 11. Just to give you an idea of how it might pan out, here's a setlist from the last time Sting did this, with Paul Simon.
 12.
The GHS flats arrived today and a quick noodle has produced pleasant tones. The D and G sound much better. One thing though they kind of feel a little "dry/sticky" well that's the only way I can describe them. I assume with some playing in this will become less noticeable.
Yep, par for the course. Give them a good rub down with an old t-shirt. That'll sort it.
 13.
Yes! Great demo, although I nearly spat my tea out when he described what the second control knob (after the volume, active/passive switching control knob) did!
*snort*
 14.
It would be an interesting experiment to glue a couple of housebricks inside a 2u rack case with a bog-standard ICEpower module to see whether bass players coo over the "heft" of the sound!
I really wanted go get on with all the micro heads I've used over the years, 'cos carrying a big amp around is a PITA. I approached each of them with open ears... until I eventually realised there was a common characteristic that didn't gel with me. If anything, I stuck with them longer than I would have done otherwise because they were light. Had they been lead sleds, I would have moved them on a lot quicker.
 15.
Now that is a very interesting thought. Why didn't I think if that? Tommy has been quiet recently.
My thoughts, too.
 16.
And I would imagine that these days a lot of PAs are powered by class D amps...
Pro-level stuff won't be using the off-the-shelf modules we're discussing here.
 17. EBS_freak has posted this pic of the new Darkglass cabs over on the new Darkglass amp thread. I'm wondering if TKS have branched out.. what do you think?
 18.
I don't personally notice a lot of difference, but we all notice things in our own way. However, I imagine the latest Mesa amp probably nails it better than the competition.
Yep, I've always said it's something that bothers some people (me for one) whereas others don't notice it. Everyone's got their own needs and tastes. I'd like to hear the Subway, but I'm not holding out much hope given that there's nothing groundbreaking in the power section.
 19.
So, i take that it doesn't have a B&O power amp and PSU module. I'm curious to know if they designed a new amp section like Markbass did. Going off-topic, it seems that i'm one of the few that actually prefers class-D to old and heavy amps. The "heft" that some mention for me translates in to boominess and muddy on stages. In pub gigs the lack of sub-bass from class-D is really helpfull, it helps the bass being heard better at lower volume and doesn't mess with the mics in the drum kit.
From my perspective, it's not so much a 'heft' thing (Gaaah! I said it!) - it's more backbone. The transients, and the low mids. As an aside, it was pretty lonely in the 'There's something not quite right about the Class D' camp for a while, but there's a fair few people in here now. Maybe in a couple of generations time we'll have something at consumer level that can compete with traditional power amps. We'll see.
 20. Does it come with a waistcoat?
 21.
Interesting.... I don't know much about Maruszczyk, though my heart is kinda set on a Fender... rightly or wrongly...!
This might enlighten you a bit :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oicxvq2A95g
 22. If that is the colour scheme you're looking at, give this a look. It might save you a few quid...
 23.
They claim this will match older amps. I also like the fact we have a company saying that class d doesn't match older tech (till now apparently). From Darkglass Since bassists adopted them, class D amplifiers were seen as convenient version of much bigger and heavier, yet better sounding, amps. Most musicians were happy with compromising sound and power by saving money, weight and space. So a year ago we set ourselves up to end these compromises. We wanted the best sounding amplifier period: louder, more versatile and articulate. It just happens to be one of the lightest, most compact and elegantly designed bass amplifiers out there. Fully designed and built in Finland. We present you the Microtubes 700."
I'm assuming it's the same power module that's in the latest batch of Micros - The Mesa Subway, etc.
 24. We've done this a couple of times already :-)
