1.
I don't take a band that was finished 45 yrs plus as a reference, tbh... just like I wouldn't dream of playing 'Come together' the same way. So, yes, I got over them eons ago.. whether that is sacriledge to some,..?? oh well...!!
Not you - I mean the entertainment industry as a whole. They still cast a huge shadow over it.
 2. A game-changer - a true genius. Even so, I can't bear to listen to most of his recorded material.
 3.
Looks great, ... I need to know where it stands against an AM Deluxe..
Chalk and cheese... I bought an Am Deluxe and sent it back. It felt tin-pot compared to the Jake. Both my Jakes are proper luthier-built quality. I can't fault them, or the other Jake I've tried.
 4.
couldn't agree more....the angriest three note intro ever written.
And ironically referenced with a wink in the opening of the Genesis song in the previous post...
 5.
Nothing wrong with that and he has a body of work that will last for many many more years but things move on.
But never 'on' enough to quite get over The Beatles.. which IMO speaks volumes.
 6. I know, I know.. I'm so predicable. But something like this? All for less than 800 quid, or maybe a bit more if you want something exactly to your spec.
 7. A couple of my bands gig more often than not without a drummer. Generally, the audience come to terms with the fact there's no drummer there pretty quickly. We just do lots with dynamics and make sure it still swings and rocks a bit without a kit behind it. That said, the music can handle it. it's not like we're metal or anything.
 8. Bee-yoot! And a 3/4 view of the sofa, too... you must be special :-)
 9. Not sure about radius - you probably can - but definitely the other two.
 10.
Or mine Four weeks in and I'm getting tense... Do you get pictures of the build in progress through like with other builders or not?
Nope - just the sofa shot :-)
 11. Maruszczyk. Just ridiculous value for money. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/254344-the-official-maruszczyk-club/
 12. Have you got a link to any info detailing how Fender JV's are superior to Squier JVs?
 13. Hey hey hey It's the kind of weather that makes you want to stay in the house and make a video Caveats: The strings are fresh-out-of-the-packet flats, so they're zingy as hell (yeuch!), the whole thing was done in a hurry, and I still don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to recording and mixing my own bass. Apart form that.. errr.. it's OK. I'll do a video with rounds when I get a chance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFM3h7JaPvk
 14.
With respect, that's absolute rubbish. Nobody does everything well. If that's what you're saying, I think the possibility of seeing him try to solo like Stu Hamm or play in a progressive band like Tool, or slap like Mark King would be enough to dispel the thought that he can do everything well as I'd imagine it'd be a bit car crash. He does several things in the terms of playing well like most of us. But nobody, does everything "well." Not McCartney, Pastorious, Clarke, Jamerson, Entwistle, King or any other iconic bass player you can name can do everything well. They have their niche areas in which they excel (or not dependent on whether you like their style or even their music), but nobody is all things. McCartney isn't any different in that respect. I happen to like his playing, before anyone asks.
Calm down - I think Blue is a fan, that's all.
 15. He's creative and pioneering - not just on the bass. He always thinks of the song, not just the bass part. Because of that, I can even forgive him for the bass part on 'Something' and his recent vocal scatting.
 16. If we're specifically talking chords, then Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Or Hemispheres.
 17.
WoT - what's the radius of the fingerboard? I'm awaiting mine for delivery towards the end of January but I never thought to check the radius before I pulled the trigger. Unless it's silly tight it won't be a problem but I do prefer something over 12" usually.
Oof... I wouldn't like to guess. It feels fairly standard if that helps?
 18. Yep, the last few posts echo my thoughts. The S112's 'speak' more than any other cab I've owned (as does the S212 I also own).
 19.
It's not as good as checking it out in person, but of course, I'd love to hear your impressions. Did you try the 1126 before you got your S112/212? I'd like to hear what you felt gave the S112s the edge over the 1126, for your liking.
In a nutshell:

1126 (no tweeter): Wide. big lows, nice, natural, clear highs, without tweeter fizz. Loud.
S112 (no tweeter): Nice woody bark, really brings out the voice of flats. Nice lows up to medium volume, when it starts to compress. Warm, round highs. Much lighter than the 1126. A pair of them is, IMO, sonic nirvana.
20. I've compared the 1126 and S112, if that helps..?
 21.
So it's not marketing gone mad then, more marketing done quite well.
Hmmm... That depends. If the quality of the marketing is judged on how many they sell, that might suggest otherwise :-)
 22. It's got flats on it (for now), straplocks and... I've taken the plastic off the pickguard. I love NBD :-)
 23.
Congrats! that is stunning, I just love that. One of my favourite colour combinations and the maple board looks so nice. I'll be looking for something new soon, P/J would be nice and Maruszczyk are getting near the top of the list. The more I see of their gear the more I want one!
Cheers! All for £700 including shipping. When I look around and see what else is on offer for that sort of money, it blows my mind.
 24. Oh, and I'm thinking 'possible neck swap'...
