1. It's a great clip - it's popped up in here just recently.
2.
Since this amp is the among the very first releases to use the newest ICE module, your wait should only be five years or so.
Heh... yeah, that's the problem. I dunno - I might really like this when I hear it, but (as we've chatted about via PM) it needs to be a real advance from what I've heard already to ring my bell...
3. I admit I'm tempted by this, but from what I've read there's been no great advance in the spec of the power section, so.. I think I'll hang on for the next generation of modules to come through.
4. I have no issue with him playing around with the groove and going nuts, but his timekeeping is pretty shoddy in places.
5.
At least he can play more or less in time, which is a huge plus if you ask me.
It's the 'more or less' bit that surprises me...
6. It's a promo. It's about showing off. it's a good idea and it's well shot. But he's all over the shop. In the end I wasn't sure wether to listen to the drum part or the backing track.
7. I wonder if the power section is one of the usual ICE modules everyone else uses at the moment..?
8. Yep - one nicely responsive page is all you need.
9. Just go to Maruszczyk and get it over with...
10. A great, distinctive groove courtesy of Fleetwood & McVie. Who cares if it's the same all the way through? What a tune!
11. I read the Jaco book recently. Fascinating story. He was clearly a genius. And an incredible, effortless, game-changing, player. I have nothing but the utmost respect for him, the music still does nowt for me.
12.
If you look at the Fender headstock objectively and compare it to more modern ones, it looks very paddle-like and unnecessarily large and clumsy. But I like it.
That shape saved Leo a few quid, too...
13.
are there any other basses at this price point that will better this one?
Get exactly what you want for less, without the fugly headstock.
14. I do it on one of my covers bands. It's good fun - a nice line, good song, and the punters love it.
15.
Maybe he'll play it on the TV show....maybe not. I think you're supposed to enter into the spirit of a charity auction and that it being "one of Sting's basses" is a generous description for the sake of raising some money. He is going to sign it, that adds some value to it.
^^^ this. A couple have surfaced up here as part of charity auctions.
16.
The position of the pups has a big impact.
This - they vary quite a lot on PJs.
17. Oh, and top loading only if you go down this route.
18. Order a set of GHS flats direct from Lakland. As nice as the La Bellas, and significantly cheaper. And less choice to confuse you :-)
19.
As the current owner of two of those Berg cabs, all I can say is that the TKS cabs must be awesome!
They are. I'll never say a word against the Bergs - I'm a big fan - but the S212 has magic in the mids I've not really had from other cabs. It's probably just a preference thing.
20.
Has anybody actually done a good number of gigs with an S212?
Me. Shedloads. It eclipses the wonderful Bergs (of various configurations) that I ran for years beforehand.
21. I never touch my amp throughout a gig, or use any pedals, but I use my tone knob a lot, palm mute, switch pickups and use a plec quite a lot. It helps when going from Budapest to Chelsea Dagger, for example.
22.
Out of curiosity, has anyone had a peek inside their S112 to see what driver they're using? I'm curious to see if Stevie's guess elsewhere on the forum is correct!
Eminence, I believe. Not sure of the specifics.
23.
Don't think Bilbo is saying leave the settings alone for every song, more that he won't spend LOADS of time to figure out the intricacies of the tone on the track, especially when a ball park area is good enough!
Happy to be told otherwise, but that's not how I read it.
