1.
Is the new bass chambered like the sunburst? If not, much weight difference? Cheers Si
It's insanely light - only slightly heavier than my 'burst - so I guess it has to be chambered. Still no neck-dive, despite it not having Ultralites...
 2. Cheers, all! I'm doing gigs with different bands at the mo, and there's a bit of a flats / rounds clash going on. This sorts it... It's a stock model, not a custom, but I liked the look of it, the weight is fab (7.5lbs-ish!) and the price was amazing, so... I thought I'd go for it. The neck is their standard width - 40mm - which is actually narrower than I'm used to, but I'll get over that pretty quick. Initial thoughts - the action was insanely low, so I've given the truss a tweak and it's spot-on for my ham fists now. It's passive with standard Maruszczyk pickups which I have no previous experience of (the Haussels in my 'burst are to die for) and at this early stage it feels like it's going to be more of a rock monster than my 'burst. Loads of growl. The 'bucket can be set to buck or single-coil mode by pulling the tone knob. There's a significant difference when you do, but so far I've not noticed any hum. Which was a nice surprise. Like my last one, it came with a nice gig bag, and a high-quality strap - Adrian was kind enough to let m choose an antique brown one this time. So far, so very good :-)

 4. Hello everyone Look what landed on my doorstep this morning More later...
 5.
Like WoT I was gonna buy the new R40 dvd but after hearing the audio I don't think I'll go ahead with it. Poor Geddys voice just makes it quite rough to enjoy IMHO. The bass playing and sound is great tho. To anyone who has heard the audio of R40 is there a duff note or chord at the start of Far Cry??
Yep - a two-second fix and they didn't bother. Red Barchetta, YYZ... it's fair to say Alex was having an off-night (I know he has problems with his hands these days). Quite a bit of the footage I've seen - apart from it being murky - is focussed on the crew moving the backline around. I really don't want to see that. Oh, and ladies in the audience. And air-drummers. For (far) cryin' out loud.
 6. I can't believe I've just done this, but I've just cancelled my order for the R40 Blu-Ray/CD set. The clips I've seen look dreary and the performances are grim. And from what I've read on the fan forums, there's a lot more stuff about them that's just going to irritate me. Ah, well. I've got £25 to spend elsewhere.
 7. Yep - I've looked into it and I've decided there's nothing here to ring my bell. If it had a new cutting-edge power unit, I might have been interested, but... meh.
 8. Buy something with a transformer in it, so if it breaks you can have it repaired. Mesa Walkabout.
 9.
They are Delano's in a P/JJ config - Passive. The JJ is a Delano Humbucker - Split Coil - MC4AL custom pickup. They are custom made for Adrian I believe.
Fab. I'll see how I get on with the Maruszczyk's in mine. Hopefully they'll be fine. I thought about going for another custom build, but the colour, spec (and weight!) of this one appealed to me so I thought I'd have a punt. The board looks a little bit flamey, too. Yum.
 10.
Beautiful!! Our spec's seem to have been very close WoT! Mine arrived last Wednesday and has blown me away - playability, tone, craftsmanship, the whole nine yards. So much so that I have not put it down to take any detailed photos (but I will!!) Here's the one that Adrian sent over just before the bass shipped.
Oof.. that's pretty! What pickups and electronics are in there?
 11.
Nice! Really Nice. You think a matching headstock would be cool on this one?
Hmm... I've never been a fan of passive headstocks on P's. Or maple boards, for that matter. I'm so picky :-)
 12. Yep - it's got the 'bucker / single coil pot. Mind, I rarely use both pickups wide open, so I'm not sure how often I'll use the bridge in single-coil mode. Mcnach - what didn't you like about the P pickup? What did you replace it with?
 13.
Nice! similar to mine: What pickups are in yours?
It is, isn't it? It's just got the passive Maruszczyks in it. I'm not sure how they compare to the Haussels in mine. Adrian says hotter and more vintage. Like these things always are, it's a bit of a gamble. Aesthetically, I do prefer a single J coil at the bridge, but it's not a deal-breaker. I'm switching between rounds and flats a lot at the mo, so I want one for each :-)
 14. Trigger pulled. 7lbs 7ozs of passive SAUCE. Come to Daddy, you strumpet!
 15. This drummer who is at the wrong gig is only slightly less as well known as the other drummer who is at the wrong gig...
 16. Nice! Could the guard be a replacement? '72 is early for the thumbrest to be on the north side of the strings. Early for the neckplate gasket, too?
 17. I have to say it all sounds a bit... meh. You can tell they're tired,
 18. I may be doing a bit of Maruszczyk-shaped trigger-pulling in the next couple of days. We'll see...
 19.
So...I think it's a toss up between Labellas and TI, leaning toward the Labellas.
Just in case it saves you a few quid... I'm a long-time user of the LaBella FLs. They're fab, but to me they're interchangeable with the significantly cheaper GHS Precision Flats. Both great strings.
 20.
No, but I like to hear the notes..
Me too. Flats are great for that.
 21.
most sound like you're using rope or something, plenty of thud and nothing else.
Have you been listening to them whilst wearing ear muffs?
 22.
Are the Lakland ones now just GHS in a GHS packet? Purple silk not black silk and not repackaged?
Yep - just GHS's in GHS packets.
 23.
GHS Precision Flats 3050M are OK strung through-body. But through-body is not always a good idea with (some) flats.
^^^ these. About £21 shipped from Lakland. (My boring stock answer - sorry)
 24. Constant efforts to make stuff sound better is fine by me. Buy it, or don't. Your choice.
