2.
I can't find any spec that says what wattage it gives out at 8ohms.
Just do what TC do and pull a number out of the air :-D
3. It's fretless. You've got a string fixed between two points, and stuff happens inbetween. Have fun finding the stuff you like. Here endeth the lesson.
4. Ah... this was my old one! I bought it in Germany many moons ago. A lovely bass - the active circuit in these is fantastic, and the Low E is heavenly.
5. What would you want the 'My content' button to show? Just your own posts? Not that I ever use it, but if you visit the 'new content' page (which I use as my main BC landing page) you can filter it to show just topics you started, or participated in.
6. The address is on his website at http://www.public-peace.de
7.
My limelight has arrived! 66 Jazz style, but P/J, with Master Vol/Blend/Tone. Note the tuning heads I sourced in Germany It's a little lighter than the dark sherwood green I was going for but it's still lovely looking. Mark forgot the chrome pickup cover over the P pickup but that's ordered and I will fit it myself. Looks fantastic and amazingly authentic. Sounds wonderful too!
Stunning. Well done!
8. Are PJ's allowed?
9. FWIW, I spent many years in what was, to me, a micro-head wilderness (RH450 included). I eventually realised: whenever I used a head with a lump of iron in it, I didn't have to turn it up so loud for it to feel 'right' in context. Controversial (or bunkum) maybe, but I can only speak as I find.
10. Here's a bit'o'noodling with flats. It's just recorded on a Zoom Q2, so it's far from the peak of sonic excellence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfUCZ1EMPMU
11. Lovely. Nice amount of relic'ing, there...
12.
Alphonso Johnson recommended him to replace Steve Hackett. Steve Hackett was focussing on his sick daughter and being given a lot of grief by the others at the time over his lack of committment to the band.
Oi fink the sick daughter thing was Mr. Gabriel during the recording of The Lamb. AFAIA, Hackett was just hacked off that his tunes weren't being included on the records.
13. The problem with the repro stuff - apart from the colours - is that it's too sharp and focussed. It's just not organic. Here's some old pics of mine, all '71-ish. The colour balance is all off, but you'll get a feel for the pattern:
14. Don't panic... Maruszczyk have come to the rescue with the Jake and the Elwood. Here's my Jake. Cheaper than Sandberg, too :-)
15. It looks like fairly typical better-quality tort. There ain't nothing like the real thing, unfortunately....
16. I completely agree. Most engineers assume you use flats 'cos you don't like being heard.
17.
You can get a flatwound sound from roundwounds, if you take all the tone off your bass. But you can't get a roundwound tone from a bass fitted with flatwounds.
Nah. What you get there is roundwounds-with-the-tone-rolled-off tone.
18. Another rehearsal with it last night, this time with grumpy old flatwounds on it. It sounded nice and fat, and it's a dream to play...
19. At the 8.5lbs I was expecting, they would reduce the risk. At the 7.2lbs it turned out to be, they almost certainly avoid neck dive. Mind you, it doesn't feel close to tipping over. I don't know how they've done it....
20.
Wow! That bass looks nice! And great video too. Where the smallere tuners because you wanted it light weight ?
Yep, exactly. Because of my target weight, there was always the danger of neck dive so I went with the Ultralites to be on the safe side.
21.
Amazing quality for the price. Actually scrub that, its amazing quality at twice the price! Not sure they'd be able to have the burst through the belly cut as its a flame maple cap - it would show the alder underneath - I think that's why they've done it like that anyway.
Yep - that's my take on it, too.
22.
I don't like sunburst P basses with Tort pick guards but this this looks and sounds fantastic. I can't stop looking at this. F.U. GAS.
Cheers! Here's the NBD thread with more pics...
23.
I played my first gig with mine yesterday. It's the most comfortable bass I own. I guess that's what you get when you are able to indicate the neck dimensions you want. Only, if I could do it over again, I'd have chosen some other pickups. I went for their standard offering and I'm not convinced at all by the Precision pickup. The double J, however, is pretty cool.
I think I scored lucky with mine (the Haussel pups). The P is pretty punchy...
