1.
Id love to hear these and 6" speakers sound great. I really like the bergantinos im using now, but I used to use 2x accugroove tri110s which had a 6" driver and I absolutely adored them. I am really interested in these TKS cabs, are they very clear/hi fi or are they a vintage sounding cab? im currently thinking 1×12, 1×6 and horn with the tweed covers and oxblood cloth x2
Tommy does every combination you can think of - tweeter / no tweeter / 6" / none of the above...
2. I've just watched a clip of them playing one of the surprises in the set. Thinking that - even through a crappy YouTube clip - the bass sounded better than it has is a while, I squinted a look at what he was using for that song. All I can say is... mwhahahahahaaa
3. Hey gang Just caught up on reports from the opening night of the Rush tour in Tulsa. They've pushed the boat out this time.. it's a hell of a concept. http://www.rushisaband.com/blog/2015/05/08/4336/Rush-R40-Live-tour-opening-night-in-Tulsa-open-thread-and-LIVE-setlist-SPOILERS After skipping the last tour I'd be tempted by this, but 'm not sure they could bring it to Europe. The logistics would be crazy.... We'll see.
4. The best choice there is if you want a small, portable head without going down the Class D route. These things have magic in them.
5. I'm not a fan of the spec of the U.S. GL. The maple blocks are.. meh. The pickguard is tacky. And it looks like it has long-stem tuners too, which is just.. weird. All IMO, of course.
6. Just as well he wasn't slapping. We'd be in the middle of a Raul Moat-style manhunt by now.
7.
Hahaha! I also love my Limelight P bass. I was close to pull the trigger on this bad boy But now a friend of mine is having it
Whoah.. when was that for sale? Lovely.
8. I've no idea where they were made, but the pickups in my '63 J sounded incredible - far better than any other J I've owned. And I've owned a lot...
9. I really like the look of those, but it's a shame they don't do a short-stem version...
10. Thread from the dead... Here's a RandySpot: http://www.tmz.com/2015/04/30/the-eagles-randy-meisner-wife-not-trying-to-kill-me-video-conservatorship/
11.
Instead of doing some Zep gigs Planty's busy ruining their songs by doing 'versions' of them. A world music experiment too far.
Yeah... 'I don't want to live in the past', said Plant, during a break from performing 40-year old songs with a band who's line-up simultaneously evokes the 1990s, 1950s and 1930's.
12. I think it's awesome, and it frustrates me that Bob Plant won't get over himself and do some gigs with them. Mind you. it was years ago now (scary to think!) so it makes you wonder if they could do it again. He should have struck while the iron was hot. My only disappointment with the O2 show is the terrible bass mix...
13.
That's about £700 though, and the OP's budget is around £500... Quite a big difference for us bassists on a budget
Ah, forgot about the recent price bump. Fair point..
14.
what do you mean it's only been a month!!! It feels like it's been a year!!! ... impatient, me? nah...
Yeah... I'm about five weeks in. Time needs to move a bit quicker.
15. A pair of TKS 112s. I doubt you'll get better for the money....
16. People pay monthly for houses and cars that they'll never own. It's not that radical a concept.
17. I'm not sure 600w into a physically small box is going to be possible or useful. Get a good quality 8ohm instead... TKS, Barefaced, etc.
18. www.newmooninsurance.com for me. I hope your visa is sorted...have fun!
19. Lonnie Donegan pulled a few out of the ark, too.
20.
No... I already had Berg cabs at the time. I wont say it wasn't a factor at all, but I didn't have to sell the Bergs, and if the top cabs, from my POV had have been one of the others on the test, I would have bought them. I hear something in the TKS cabs that I can really use...and it sets them apart, IMO.
Same for me... long-time Berg user, with nothing but huge respect for Jim Bergantino. The TKS just have the x-factor I struggle to find on other cabs.
21. What sort of volume do you need? If it's going to be limited to 'reasonable', you absolutely can't go wrong with the TKS S112. Comically light, ceramic driver, Bergantino build quality, and very reasonable prices. Also has lots of custom options.
22.
What the title says. What does one of these things entail? The only image my mind conjures up is a load of guys sat in a circle with their gear playing at each other which, to be honest, sounds a bit sh*te.
Probably best you don't go to one, then.
