1. I just merged 'em. TBH I didn't look where they were beforehand. Apologies for the confusion.
2. It's bloody lovey. I couldn't put it down...
3.
these look so nice, does anyone know what the string spacing is for the 5er's? I've seen 19mm as a special, if they can do 17.5-18mm then I think that they might beat limelight for my next bass, 5 sting Jake, sonic blue with matching headstock and a rosewood board. probably just a p-pup and passive. not made my mind up on the scratchplate, mint or torty? att
I'm guessing you can specify the spacing. I was able to specify just about every detail of my incoming Jake.
4. I doubt you could go wrong with either. I know Maruzyzyk can do relics, but Limelight will get you visually closer if it's a clone you're after.
5. The one I played yesterday was Fiesta red. Definitely not metallic, and maybe a shade less 'pink' than you would expect from Fender, but still identifiably Fiesta red as opposed to the other reds.
6. I've just had my first in-the-flesh dalliance with a Maruszczyk Jake. It was someone else's 'cos mine isn't here yet. Goodness me... what a beauty. It screams quality. Can't wait for mine to land...
7. My Jake custom should be with me in around two weeks :-)
8. Geddy on a Thunderbird (I think - I'm crap at Gibsons)....
9.
But it's not just the keys with Geddy, it's the strange wailing delivery he seems to have adopted too. That changes the whole dynamic of the song IMO.
Yeah - his phrasing is just weird now...
10.
Knowledge of music, knowing what works in making good music, is much more important than chops.
Yup.
11.
Do any manufacturers state those specifications?
TKS.
12.
Oh somehow I missed that thread. Those cabs look delicious, don't they? I'm hoping they sound just as good. Cheers Geoff
They do - there's lots of threads on them, but shout up if you'd like to know anything specific.
13. You're missing the TKS S112.... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/251931-ncd-tks-engineering-s112-cover/
14. What a ridiculous bargain! If I didn't have my own Maruszczyk build in-progress...
15. The whole show has just popped up on YouTube, and - IMO - Geddy's voice renders it unlistenable. He just can't do it any more, which is a real shame.
16.
Wouldn't you think that Van, being the (cranky !!!) perfectionist that he is, would have copped how shabby is it/was and then made the appropriate changes ?
You would think, but apparently - back then, anyway - all he cared about was a good vocal take.
17. The version that ended up on the record was the first take, 'cos it had Van's favourite vocal on it. That might explain why the track itself is a bit shabby.
18.
I know all the issues with Neil's health etc, but has anyone heard or seen anything definitive that says they will not take R40 worldwide? I just don't see how it can be a farewell tour if they don't leave North America/Canada.
TBH, if one of big factors is logistics, I'd be over the moon if they just came over here with a minimal production. A couple of amps, and a few spots. That would be awesome. :-)
19. Permanent Waves and Signals would be first port'o'call for me. Today, anyway... Tomorrow, I'd suggest something else (but nothing post-Counterparts).
20.
Id love to hear these and 6" speakers sound great. I really like the bergantinos im using now, but I used to use 2x accugroove tri110s which had a 6" driver and I absolutely adored them. I am really interested in these TKS cabs, are they very clear/hi fi or are they a vintage sounding cab? im currently thinking 1×12, 1×6 and horn with the tweed covers and oxblood cloth x2
Tommy does every combination you can think of - tweeter / no tweeter / 6" / none of the above...
21. I've just watched a clip of them playing one of the surprises in the set. Thinking that - even through a crappy YouTube clip - the bass sounded better than it has is a while, I squinted a look at what he was using for that song. All I can say is... mwhahahahahaaa
22. Hey gang Just caught up on reports from the opening night of the Rush tour in Tulsa. They've pushed the boat out this time.. it's a hell of a concept. http://www.rushisaband.com/blog/2015/05/08/4336/Rush-R40-Live-tour-opening-night-in-Tulsa-open-thread-and-LIVE-setlist-SPOILERS After skipping the last tour I'd be tempted by this, but 'm not sure they could bring it to Europe. The logistics would be crazy.... We'll see.
23. The best choice there is if you want a small, portable head without going down the Class D route. These things have magic in them.
24. I'm not a fan of the spec of the U.S. GL. The maple blocks are.. meh. The pickguard is tacky. And it looks like it has long-stem tuners too, which is just.. weird. All IMO, of course.
