1. Fender are just coming out with daft stuff these days. I'm sick of waiting for a decent PJ with blocks, so I've ordered a custom build from Maruszczyk for MIM money.
2. The balance needs to be tipped in the artists' favour, but the Tidal launch was an abject lesson in how to musjudge your audience. Laughable
3. Yup - loads. I use a ceramic 212 from www.tks.se. It's as light as any Neo 2x12 and far cheaper. Sounds incredible.
4.
Just he idea of owning a 40-year old instrument as my sole bass worries me a bit, as I wouldn't drive a 40-year old car as my only transport!
Basses aren't cars. Don't worry about it.
5. There's plenty to go around...
6. If a bass was good in 1970-whatever, there's no reason why it shouldn't be good now.
7.
I would check out these... http://www.public-pe...-amazaque140333 Adrian makes a few light weight basses around the 7lb mark. Hope this helps.
Yup - I've ordered a Jake (the Precision equivalent) with a chambered body and a load of other nice stuff, and it's costing less than a MIM Fender. Mind-boggling.
8. If you skip through that clip - like I just did - all you hear is bmm-TWANG-bmm-TWANG-bmm-TWANG-bmm-TWANG...
9. Yeah. I've looked into it before, but like you the config confused the hell out of me...
10. That's class...
11. I do, but the cover his new album and the accompanying promo video made me proper LOL.
12. Until someone says they want to buy it, just assume they don't. Life's less stressful that way.
13.
Is he any relation to Kathryn?
Yarse - brother.
14. No, but I'd love to see it. My pal is playing violin and he's bloody amazing. Him and me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hL81A7f2MWo Him & Sting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzMLmS9cNxg
15.
I put in a set of dimarzios with a serial / parallel switch and the sound is classic P with a huge sound.
Excellent. Only... eight weeks to go. *drums fingers*
16.
My two.... a Jake and an Elwood in fiesta red. Enjoy.
Yum! From what I can make out, the P pups on Jakes are a shade further from the bridge than what Leo settled on. In your opinion, does that change anything tonally? Or is it still classic 'P'?
17.
I've just revisited this thread. Interesting observation on the guerilla marketing front is that the OP has pretty much disappeared...his last post to BC was mid-February. Job done on his part, eh? Heh.
Yup: http://www.public-peace.de/index.php/news-archive/1355-ulas-engin-our-first-dealer-in-turkey Job done, indeed :-)
18. Nice review! I remember a few disparaging comments when these first surfaced, whereas I thought they looked pretty fab if they lived up to the marketing spiel. Looks like I was right...
19. I palm mute these days...
20.
Hi all, Just a quick question! Looking for recommendations for an electric/acoustic bass with an upright sound. Been looking at those Kala U-Basses although open to options. Would something like a fretless Hofner do the job? Not really interested in an EUB as such - just trying to get some options Thanks in advance for advice or opinions Danny
What kind of upright sound are you after? Short, thumpy attack, or something richer?
21.
Bring the thunder I have yet to use both cabs together, but figured I'd post a "stack" shot anyway.
I like this...
22.
Yes but what has that got to do with this thread?
Exactly - more than ten people have heard of Moondance.
23.
Anyone else only come here when they aint got a lady in their life?
Or when they've been married five years ;-)
