1.
After a couple of rehearsals and gigs, I can safely say that this is a great bass! Sits prefectly in the mix, and really nails the classic flatwound P sound. An embarrassingly large amount of compliments from people who know what they're talking about. It's a good 'blank canvas' to shift the tone towards a more specific type too - I use an Aguilar Tone Hammer pre, and have some settings I've worked out that give me a very good B15 impersonation. Very happy indeed
Sounds lovely. I should have put the order in for my P ages ago, but I just can't make my mind up on the colour! It was going to be Oly, then LPB, but now I like the idea of charcoal frost. Gah!
 2.
I liked Chris Slade with AC/DC on some of the material, but on other parts it seemed a bit rushed. Darn good drummer though.
No danger of that based on Highway to Hell from the Grammys. My God.... I think they're about halfway through the first verse as I type.
 3.
the look on phil jones face after he asks the sales guy to demo the quantum 800 and gets the slap fest...!
In this clip? I know... I can only think the guy is part of an elaborate wind-up. https://www.youtube....h?v=0shUDh-IlM8
 4. Phil Jones Bass launched their Bluetooth-equipped combo at NAMM too. Dunno anything about price, features, whether it's any good or not, etc. http://youtu.be/BQD99KtNxlM
 5. Big stages are great when accompanied by a big PA, big crowd and decent lights. If any of those are missing, it can take the shine off it.
 6.
They are good they sound great, Fred Barchetta have a better singer I think ( the great Uriah Duffy on bass) really amazing . http://youtu.be/HodK8zn7xz4
I can't forgive the drummer for getting the part wrong around the 40s mark...
 7. Here's a Drum-heavy clip from last weekend. Our set is original material, but we get to cut loose on a cover medley for the encore... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPXut04HsIY
 8. Good stuff... Singer is great. I don't think he's singing to a prerecord, Not sure he could handle any earlier stuff, though..!
 9. Ha ha... what a load of nonsense. Hands up if Budge Magraw's accent sounded nowt like you expected. *raises hand*
 10. I don't find anything odd at all about someone preferring cash.
 11. Just noticed she's playing in an orchestra. Any reason why an acoustic wouldn't make more sense?
 12. Here's a DrumCam clip from my gig with The Caffreys at The Live Theatre in Newcastle last weekend. The set is all original material, apart from our encore medley. Unfortunately, the camera I set up had a hissy fit, and all I could salvage was half the medley. Still, it shows us cutting loose a bit... http://youtu.be/IPXut04HsIY
 13.
Um. Yes. I think you've just re-made my point.
My bad - I misread. OK, Heinz come up with lots of new stuff, but how much of it sets the world alight? They'll always be known for beans, ketchup and soup.
 14.
Why this strange belief that a company can only produce the same old stuff or produce new stuff? Heinz have come up with new products, after all, not just baked beans with basil or baked beans with chilli sauce or baked beans with bananas.
And now change 'bass' to 'beans':
You mean those aren't just the same old bass with different go-faster stripes on?
15.
Wateroftyne posted this vid to a similar query I had a while back. Spikedrivers - Young and Stupid (LIVE):
I was just about to post this again :-)
 16. Is it just for playing around the house? if so, the Roland looks fine for starters. Anything gig-wise, I wouldn't bother. Mrs. WoT always DI's via an LR Baggs stage pre.
 17.
You mean those aren't just the same old bass with different go-faster stripes on?
OK, how about: TRUE FACT: None of these have, or will, sell very well. So hats off to them for even trying.
 18. All in the 8.6 - 8.8 range for me. Just how I like it.
 19. Aye - it's been on the cards for a while.
 20. Jerry Scheff has always been perfectly pleasant when we've chatted via PM, and he's played with Elvis and Bob Dylan. *head explodes*
 21.
It's dead center. It's just the shadow on the bevel.
I dunno - the shot at 3:00-ish is pretty much head-on, and it looks out to me...
 22.
UK company... But cheaper in USA? http://www.notreble....ocial-bass-amp/
The VU meter looks off-centre in the video at the bottom of this page. That would drive me nuts. Some good features on it, though. I like the idea of the wireless play-along.
 23.
I heard your slughtly bigger TKS cab you had lent warwickhunt the other week. It was nice which model was that?
Hello! It was the S212. To all intents and purposes two S112's in a single cab.
I gave my new S112 a good workout this weekend and I am very impressed. I'm struck by the decent amount of low end, good projection, and how well it takes EQ too. And the I paired it with the 1156! Very happy
Great, isn't it? :-)
 24. *thinking out loud* Can anyone remember the spec of the Little Giant? 1000w, wasn't it?
 25.
I'm going to guess you mean the TC RH450? IIRC the Bass Gear Magazine bench tests confirmed that they do have a steep highpass filter at 80Hz which can't be defeated.
I'm fairly sure it's around 40Hz on the RH450...?
