Seriously though - do some of the posters here really have to find something to do during the verses? It's not as if anyone is watching you. Just hang out, smug in the knowledge that you're responsible for making people's arses wiggle when the chorus comes in.

I think about what I'm going to spend my fee on. (Actually, I'm one of those people who just enjoys playing, so it doesn't actually bother me)

Hey gang Played at a Burns night do over the weekend in a posh bit of town. Unfortunately our singer woke up with no voice, so we had to draft in some subs. They're prevalent up here - mostly acoustic nights, although there's a couple of jam nights around too. I occasionally go to an acoustic night with my ol' Pa 'cos he likes to sing Johhny Cash tunes... and as the only bass player I often spend most of the night up there. It keeps me on my toes. The downside is, they're throttling the live band scene.
