1. Fantastic... that looks stunning. Maybe I should have been a bit bolder with the colour of the S112 I have coming, but.. the black'n' silver is classic. Covers look great, too.
 2.
Are you playing this fingerstyle? If so then let your plucking finger come to rest on the E string after you strike the A at the 7th.
That's what I'd do (I had to pick up my bass to fin that out, mind) - nowt to it, really.
 3. I used to quite like them back in the day ('Nothingness' is fab). The only thing stopping me getting in to them more was Vernon Reid - he plays like an excitable (but admittedly talented) 12-year-old.
 4.
I made the change to flatwound strings a few months ago and thought for a first try I'd start with a moderately priced set, so went for the d'addario chromed. I instantly loved the flats and wondered how I'd gone 23 years and never tried them??? I'd always used rounds and changed them quite regular too. So, I'm going in the studio next weekend and thought I try and get a new set played in this week, thought I'd give the more premium brand Labella a go to as they seem to have great reviews all round. So I'm struggling to find what I want.... Gauge wise, I've been using .045-100 and they feel nice, closest labella set i can see is .043-104.... I think I can live with the different string size but the only ones that size I can find say they are not suitable for through boy stringing ?????? Why is that? And can anyone point me to the best place to find what I'm looking for? I'd be happy enough to just go with the diaddrios again but I wanted to try the labellas . Thanks, and sorry for another string thread
A couple of things... Why so keen to use a new set for recording? They get better as they get older... Also, I don't think you'll find many flats that are suitable for thru-body stringing. They just don't like the break angle as they're pulled across to the bridge. The 43 gauge is pretty much comparable to 45 in rounds, IME. There's more body to the string which makes up for the slightly lighter gauge.
 5. Loads of people I play with have eventually gravitated to one or other of the Baggsseses. Quite right, too. They're rich, clear, and don't quack. I've heard them through small PAs in pubs, and 2000 seater halls, and they do the job every time. All IMO, of course.
 6.
Sometimes it's just about the way something feels and the pleasure it gives you.
There's a comment clamouring to be made here, given the subject of the post above. ...but I'm not going to make it.
 7.
I'm just wondering why TKS has it's own sub forum and everyone else is relegated to the affiliates. Barefaced never got that honour and bass builders that everyone rates on here don't get that privilege. Just asking.
They get that privilege if they pay for it :-)
 8.
No use having your bass flapping your trousers, your ears aren't on your knees.
How do we know for sure the OP isn't a cricket?
 9. I've pretty much given up going to big gigs for this reason, too. The last few Rush gigs I've been to have been dreadful. These days, the purpose of bass in the FOH is basically to rearrange your internal organs. Who cares what notes are being played?
 10. Is your drummer too loud? Maybe the guitarist is making a stand...
 11.

This setup must makes a sound as big as a planet. The mind boggles.
 12. Well.... I started out with two 112s: But I had a need for a separate 212 and 112, so I got this: All of the above sound as good as they look. The tone... the quality... the price... none better, IMO.
 13. Hellooooooo.... lovely. The S115 was plenty loud for me driving my Walkabout at 8ohm...
 14. Hi all Just popped up on Lakland's FB page. The PJ with blocks is a beauty.
 15.
The room is a bog standard rehearsal room with a solid floor, but poor sound in general. I haven't used the ext cab yet.
The Walkabout isn't going to shine in that kind of environment. It needs room to breathe.
 16. Here's couple of notables for me... Deacy demonstrating how sloppiness disappears in the mix... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aNogqF7Bac Not bad for a sax player: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z91l_lPz1oc And finally... I'm sorry, Mr. Jones. No matter how much you protest, you did use flats in the old days: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ANwQW8aspI
 17.
Getting a great tone at home is pointless if you play in a band. I found that out by spending ages setting things up, getting to a rehearsal & finding I didn't like the sound & put everything to flat.
Tru dat. I had a loan of a fairly large 15" recently. When I was tinkering with it in the living room, it sounded weak and boxy. But at the gig, where it had room to breathe, it was completely different. It opened right up and sounded huge.
 18. As previous posters have mentioned, that lump of iron is responsible for more than just weight...
 19. I always found the WA12 to be a bit flubby around the bottom. I imagine the 15 would be a bit of a struggle in the wrong room...
 20.
The blurb indicates they are the cabs with weakest bottom end of the range?
Not 'weak' - after all, what would be the point of a bass cab with 'weak' lows? Just very punchy, defined lows.
 21.
They are not affiliates, they are forum sponsors (if I'm not mistaken!) which I imagine means they contribute donations to the running of the site in exchange for the benefits of a subforum to help highlight their products? I'm sure waterofthetyne will be alone to explain property as soon as he spots this! *edit* he was!
It's not like I'm predictable or anything...
