Yep - mine had the same problem. Power dropped, started to distort. It was something to do with the jack socket - firmly jiggling the jack in the socket caused it to come back to life. Eventually I unscrewed the socket, reseated it and tightened it up and it's been OK since.
I've not tried one, but I was under the impression that the bigger Rumble amps were Genz tech?
Possibly, but in pretty shabby packages. No speakons? Wow.
I thought that Fender were just taking the existing amp models and then rebadging them as Fender?
You'd think that would be the sensible thing to do, wouldn't you? But nah, they cocked it up.
a good balance between lows and mids, no mid scoop. There's about a 3 dB increase in the high mids, compared to the lows.
Amen to that, and it's a beautiful thing.

Bump for Sunday! -
IME, the Streamliner lacked backbone - a trait I've found with the other micros.
What? You didn't like the colour or what? Like for like? Frank.
Yup - new-style S112 on the way to match my S212. That way, my old (and lovely) S112s get to stay as a pair with their new owner....

I've just sold my one remaining TKS S112. I'm replacing it with a TKS S112, though.
The 'official' vote was that they were definitely able to handle serious gig levels
Yip. I've been playing serious gigs with mine for a while now, and they handle 'em easily. :-) -
what's the worst thing that's happened to you onstage?

Puked on some of the audience. I'm not proud. -
It's got to be fake cos look at how much the audience is getting into it, plus the guy would never work again if he done that to someone!
All he (or someone with access to the tracks) has done is isolate them and put them on YouTube. It's clearly not the FoH mix... -

It seems to be real.... here's hardly any of her guitar in the mix. http://youtube.com/watch?v=v-xUwDARVb4 -
I'm wondering how 2 x S212 would compare to my Berg NV610....
TWO S212s? Madness :-) -
Thanks Barrie, that's really interesting to hear your initial findings. I just did a small gig with one s112. They have only had maybe an hours use before the gig, but truth told, the gig wasn't loud. Here are a few rambled conclusions; The one cab handled it no sweat. The cab looked great and standing horizontally it has a really little footprint. The sound is really pleasing. The Little Mark amp seemed to work very well with it, I played around with EQ more than I would, just to experiment, but it responded really well. I could hear myself better than with previous cabs at this venue. The mids are so articulate and clear. We did a set of soul/motown covers this evening, and it sounded right at home. I don't know what it was, but the tone control on my Precision was a more usable tool. With my previous cabs I hardly ever had it full on as the sound was too harsh for me. But tonight, every tone I was getting was usable and musical. Whether that's down to the lack of tweeter or the ceramic drivers, I don't know. There was still plenty of clean highs, just no shrillness or ice pick stuff.
This nails what I was trying to say in my previous post. It's a beautiful thing to hear, isn't it?
Put simply, I'm flippin' loving the TKS cabs and am looking forward to using the. Both tom morose night!!
You're in for a treat, my man. It's not simply twice as loud as a single cab. Something magical happens.
I'm really not sure I could pick a 'winner' from the hour or so we had to try them all but the TKS cabs certainly gave the other brands a run for their money, and were probably the most focussed of the three and maybe sitting somewhere between the warmth of the Aguilars & the clarity of the Bergantinos. Given a hefty price differential between them it's amazing that TKS could hold their own in this company. The Aggies seemed to have a greater spread of sound but were breaking up earliest. The Bergantinos were definitely the most obviously 'loudest' but this could be the effect of front porting in a relatively small shop environment (the other two are rear-ported). None of the three had the boxiness that used to be associated with small 12" cabs and each would work singly for smaller gigs
I know I keep saying it, but the mids on these are really special. 'Focussed' is a good word. I don't have any experience of the Berg CN's, but compared to my HS210s and HT112ERs - that I really liked - the S112s and S212 sit in the mix far more naturally for my taste. It feels like I can get a really tactile response from from the cabs at a much lower volume than the wider-sounding Bergs. I think the videos I posted above show how subtle (and not so subtle) changes in attack really shine through, and that big, reassuring bottom end is just... 'there'.

In France, the SansAmp is marketed as 'WithoutAmp'. Maybe. If it isn't, it should be.
I'll have a blast later today & see how I get on - I'm a big fan of the SL112 so should be interesting
They've landed, then?
Looks a lot like a Barefaced handle. I can feel the haters coming to bash the handle placement.
Maybe they're waiting to see if any handles fail. FWIW, mine's still in excellent nick a year on. Mind you, the cab weighs nowt.
I'll get back to you. WoT might be better placed to answer in the meantime? These are the first cabs I've had without tweeters for a while, but I'd gradually been turning them down and then off. My initial reaction is, I'm not going to miss them. The mids and highs are so nice and musical, I think the cabs are going to work wonderfully in a band. The higher notes already really sing without the tweeter.
Well...there's a place for tweeters, and they're really a part of some people's sound, but personally speaking I don't miss them one jot. Even on all the Berg cabs I've owned, I just found them clacky. And when I rolled the tweeters back, I always felt I was left with lows and no clarity. The TKS's have upper mids which seem to let the character of the bass bloom, without any fizz. If you need more, pushing the upper mids and highs on the amp gives you more clarity, with all the brittle unpleasantness rolled off in a really natural way. It's a godsend for flats, 'cos it leaves that 'woodiness' intact, and with rounds I can get a growl which sits perfectly in the mix without any harshness. Here's a couple of clips which I think / hope illustrate the point. The first two involve my S212, which sounds just like my pair of S112s did. Jump to 1m30s on this for the nearest I'll ever get to slapping. Which is really nothing of the sort, but... Just having another look there - that cloth is lovely..
i quite agrre but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some of thise TKS cabs look great, while the slant fronted ones look like my old Dansette record player. One piece of retro I don't want to see again. However if they sound better than anything else I would buy them. Of course other eyes and ears are available.
Thankfully Tommy will build black boxes (or something funkier with a plain black grille) if that's what you prefer - it'll cost less, too.

Stunning... welcome to the club! The mids and highs on these things are a joy to behold. Running one on its own sounds fantastic, but running the two of them is like an exponential increase in awesomeness.

...and here's another from out gig at Cluny2 in Newcastle last night. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vApFNecOL0I (and yes, before someone points it out - there is a brief 'moment' where I completely forgot who I was and what I was supposed to be doing. ha ha).
Yeah I understand what you are saying but what I'm saying is, you are unlikely to be asked to play in a band at a high end gig using just music notes. Even the best musicians like rehearsal. Some musicians can and do, improvise on the spot and do a great job. Alls im saying is reading music, whilst it undoubtedly helps, is not the be all and end all if the musician is good enough and has a reputation that precedes him/ her, then top end gigs are available if you move in the right circles
No-one is arguing with that. But the types of gig we're referring to in our little tangent is the likes of theatre and cruise ships, where the ability to read is pretty much expected for the reasons skej21 just mentioned. If you're a busker / ear-learner, you're probably not going to fit.
-
No, he said you can't get these gigs if you can't read music
It's fair to say that's not the norm, though. If a bandleader is expecting to hear the dep bassist play a specific part, the dep is going to struggle without dots.
