1.
Doesn't make it acoustic though does it though? Simple answer...If you're playing acoustically get either an acoustic bass guitar or a double bass.
...and don't use a PA, presumably..?
 2.
When did the word 'acoustic' start meaning 'without drum kit' ?
When the OP specified that they weren't using drums...
 3.
I would play in a more percussive way, hitting muted strings (or just harder) on all the snare hits, for example
This is what I do. Palm muting helps, too.
 4.
Does anyone type in precise domain names these days. Wouldn't they just type in '60s explosion' or 'sixties explosion' and rely on Google to provide the exact link? I thought this was why SEO was so important these days. I can't remember the last time I typed in an entire domain name exactly.
If you have no search presence, it's vital. The OP is well ranked in Google though, so yes - it's a moot point.
 5.
The real name has an apostrophe. I know it's fashionable and tiresome to rail against these, but if it's your name it should be right. Does the Explosion belong to the 60s? In which case the ownership involved would require the apostrophe. Or is it an Explosion of the 60s? In which case the plural would require apostrophe be taken away. Personally, I wouldn't like 'sex' in the name either, but of the three I'd go for 1, its your name.
An apostrophe in a domain name?
 6. It's a shame 'sex' is in there, but the middle one scans better. Hyphens are a no-no in domain names these days. They're a bit early 2000's.
 7. I do loads of acoustic gigs where the feel still has to be 'up' & rhythmic. I change my lines when there's no drummer - I get a bit busier and play a bit more staccato. Flats, rolled back tone and sometimes palm muting gives me the note, and a nice percussive thump to drive things along. I have my fretless, but IME the fretted works better 'cos the notes have more attack and bounce. Also, when there's no drummer, the band should really work on dynamics to help with the light & shade.
 8.
These are flippin' gorgeous! Does that '63 replica have a P-width neck, or are my eyes going funny?
It does!
 9.
It's the nitro for me. It just so damn comfortable and worn in. The fact that it sounds killer helps too but the feel of my limelight bass is just lovely.
Yep. I was won over the second I picked it up and played it. It felt like I'd had it for 20 years. And yes - not sunburst. It suprised me too!
 10.
Beautiful bass, Michael. Is it getting the playing time up against your vintage Fenders?
Cheers! It's been #1 since I got it, which - considering it's a J - is remarkable...!
 11.
Come on somebody, be brave and start the Limelight Porn thread
Go on, then.... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/243644-the-show-us-your-limelight-thread/
 12. There's a bit of demand for this, so I thought I might as well kick it off. C'mon you Limelighters... get involved! (Note: If the 'F' logos upset you, I respectfully ask that you start your own thread, or write a strongly-worded letter to the Daily Mail.) Here's my '63 relic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6np-PCYITrw Full story here: http://basschat.co.u...zz-medium-relic
 13. I am amazed that there are people who aren't resident in the highlands of Papua New Guinea that still haven't seen this quy,
 14. I had one, and had no problems with it. It was nice.
 15. I've never understood why America took to Herman's Hermits like they did. A terrible band, but all credit to them for being more successful musicians than I'll ever be.
 16.
I'm sorry but I have to disagree. I think the images of the example tort that the OP ordered look really cool- vintage and a nice match for a P. The Tort he ended up getting (or not, in the end) look like one of those black and flame shirts you can buy down the market for £5.
I dunno... in these pictures it looks like a tort with a lot of yellow in it. Why he can't just take it outside and just get a naturally-coloured shot of it is a mystery.
 17.
That's how I got turned on to Constance Redgrave. Someone mentioned her on BC some time ago and I looked her up.
That was probably me. She's brilliant.
 18. Don't do the matching headstock. They look wrong on P's. IMO.
 19. I know it's not what you ordered so it's a moot point, but in the lower-contrast shots on the OSG thread it looks like a pretty cool guard. Someone will be happy with it.
 20. Ah, I thought I'd posted this already, but apparently not. There's been a change of plan for the September show, and he's bringing his UK-based band up instead. I'm gutted, but given the lack of a rehearsal and soundcheck I totally understand. Hopefully I'll have another opportunity further down the line.
 21.
What about Annie Clements who plays with Sugarland, among others ? One of the few pro female bass players in Nashville that I am aware of.
Annie is a great player. So is Constance Redgrave of Spikedrivers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGk3gIyhqd8
