1. Here's the S212 in action at yesterday's dep gig with a proper rock band (which isn't normally my thing, but it was mint fun). You're pretty much listening to the cab - there's not much in the PA if any. They're not a quiet band by any means, so it should give you an idea of the authority of the tone. It's sounds massive, and it felt like it still had loads in it.
2. Here's mine in action at yesterday's dep gig with a proper rock band (which isn't normally my thing, but it was mint fun). That neck pickup is a doozy.
3.
Can somebody fill me in on what this is actually all about? These all look so nice. Are they custom builds, or made from parts? I'm confused!
Allparts necks, not sure about the rest.
4. Saw Lee Pomeroy on the last Hackett tour. He nailed the Rutherford bass vibe. Nailed it.
5.
The worst one ever for me was Wicked Game by Chris Isaak - aaarghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!
Wicked Game has a little more than the root in it, but it's still a classic example of less is more.
6.
One of these years I will make this event. Down in London at a bass related event this year what were the chances of that. Bugger.
Arr, man! One day...!
7. Hi all... the fifth NEBB is on the horizon! We're very informal compared to most bashes - we don't have demos, guest speakers, etc. It's literally a room of bass players checking out gear and talking nonsense. There's plenty of parking on-site. Hope to see some of you there...
8.
Hi guys! Does any one know approximately how long it takes for an order to be completed? All those sound samples sound great! Have you guys ordered specific pickups? Do you know which ones Mark uses as standard? I might be joining the team soon
Mine came with the pickups it had on it - I imagine they're stock as they're relic'd, but I don't know for a fact. Assuming they are stock, they're lovely.
9.
Hello WOT, I play same genre of music as yourself, would the new TKS 115 be worth waiting on or go for the S212/ S112 modular set up? Thanks Fergal
I can't comment on the new TKS 115 - haven't tried it - but the 12's just do it for me. I'm guessing the 15 has inherently bigger lows and is a little bit less mid-shy. That's just a guess, mind.
10. New cab day = new photo of my Limelight day. Any excuse :-)
11.
Out of context my friend Best
Relax - it's just a bit of gentle humour.
12.
They reached a level in the progressive music scene that become reference for bands like Dream Theater, Riverside & co...so I love their music.
I love Rush despite this.
13.
I see that there is an increasing trend to put "final price drop" on For Sale ads on the forum. Does that mean that the seller won't take anything lower? If so, will it be withdrawn within a certain timeframe? Does it get pulled and stuck on eBay? I know the market is challenging at the moment but what does this message mean, really?
It's just salesspeak. To be taken with a pinch of salt like all the other salesspeak thrown at you on a daily basis.
14. As it 'appens, I've just had a quick listen to it today 'cos I'm playing it at a couple of deps I have coming up. As long as the drummer lays it down and keeps the tempo reigned in, I can't really hear anything difficult about it..? Which bits are you referring to?
15. Class... love 'Out Of the Wilderness'. Was there many in?
16. Yep, early days but on the basis of last night's gig it's everything I hoped it would be. Such a big, effortless natural sound. The mids 'speak', and respond wonderfully when you dig in. No tweeters, so clarity without 'clack'. And visually, it got a lot of compliments.
17. Just... awesome. What a cab
18. In so many ways... Ha ha
19.
Gasp, that was some Lesson 1. Pete had problems also. Hendrix did not like them for ripping off blues songs and not giving credit. Here's Pete:
Not this tired argument again...!
20.
I may need to pop around for a cuppa some time soon... I'm getting itchy fingers! Oh and how very dare you dep with a rock band, that's my patch you are treading on; stick to your Knopfler et al gigs!
Any time! And yep, I'm probably going to have to play 30x more notes than I normally do, at seven times the volume. I'll need a lie down at half time. :-)
21. Well look what I got...
22. Here's more pics. I swear these things are works of art. The build quality is ridiculously good. I have a dep gig tomorrow with a proper ROCK BAND - it'll be a good test, even though the drivers won't really have opened up yet... I can't think of a situation where I'd ever need to use this, but it's an option...
