1. Mind you, it might not look as good once you've taken sandpaper to the end of the headstock.
2. Apparently Bassgear have got a whole bunch of 'em in stock.
3. For some reason (cost cutting?) Fender have started putting out block-marked necks without binding. I don't like it...
4.
I switched to flats a couple of years ago, and on my P they were a revelation. For gigs they rocked, I found the sound I'd been looking for, a nice deep tone. But for recording they were severely lacking in the mid frequencies. I then tried half wounds and found the mids I needed, but with all the character of the flats. No more rounds on the P for me!
I often find that engineers have a default 'roundwound' approach to EQing bass at source and in the mix, which kills the magic of flats.
5.
A fine attitude displayed there in spite of how much it must sting.
It did sting - a lot. But I've just watched it and I the mighty Dave Bronze seems to have got the gig, so it hurts a little less. :-)
6. Out of interest, have you pulled the head out and used it with a bigger cab? Just a suggestion, 'cos mine sounded great. You might not want another head...
7.
Citation please.
One of many from an SEO POV: https://www.highposition.com/blog/hyphenated-domains-google/ From a practical / brand perspective, heir use has been in decline for a long time now. IME.
8. re: 'sticky' flats - you have to play through that. The fun starts when they go smooth. FWIW, you can help the process along by rubbing them with an old cotton t-shirt.
9.
Post 14 above: "less than a grand" Nice score!
Whooah... hi-five!
10. Have I missed the price somewhere? What was it?
11. Awesome - the spit and double of my #1, which is also a T. Chambers neck stamp. Enjoy it.
12. Probably not much help, but I have a Kia C'eed SW - the estate - and a Hiscox case fits easily in the cavernous boot. I LOVE that car.
13. This is HAWT.
14.
Jazz does a pretty good Precision sound with neck pickup solo'd
Hmm.
15. A golden era. The pup in my '71 died, and the late great Jim Cairnes rewound it. I asked him to do it a little hotter than stock, and it's stunning.
16. Initial opinion - the rhythm section are a bit skittish. IMO.
17. One or two TKS112s come in at a very reasonable weight and price.
18.
Yeah. Nothing wrong with playing a stripped down set or whatever...but it's not acoustic is it?
You could analyse it that way but - thanks to MTV in the 1990s - it's become a handy, generally recognised term for acoustic guitars and no drums.
19.
Doesn't make it acoustic though does it though? Simple answer...If you're playing acoustically get either an acoustic bass guitar or a double bass.
...and don't use a PA, presumably..?
20.
When did the word 'acoustic' start meaning 'without drum kit' ?
When the OP specified that they weren't using drums...
21.
I would play in a more percussive way, hitting muted strings (or just harder) on all the snare hits, for example
This is what I do. Palm muting helps, too.
22.
Does anyone type in precise domain names these days. Wouldn't they just type in '60s explosion' or 'sixties explosion' and rely on Google to provide the exact link? I thought this was why SEO was so important these days. I can't remember the last time I typed in an entire domain name exactly.
If you have no search presence, it's vital. The OP is well ranked in Google though, so yes - it's a moot point.
23.
The real name has an apostrophe. I know it's fashionable and tiresome to rail against these, but if it's your name it should be right. Does the Explosion belong to the 60s? In which case the ownership involved would require the apostrophe. Or is it an Explosion of the 60s? In which case the plural would require apostrophe be taken away. Personally, I wouldn't like 'sex' in the name either, but of the three I'd go for 1, its your name.
An apostrophe in a domain name?
24. It's a shame 'sex' is in there, but the middle one scans better. Hyphens are a no-no in domain names these days. They're a bit early 2000's.
25. I do loads of acoustic gigs where the feel still has to be 'up' & rhythmic. I change my lines when there's no drummer - I get a bit busier and play a bit more staccato. Flats, rolled back tone and sometimes palm muting gives me the note, and a nice percussive thump to drive things along. I have my fretless, but IME the fretted works better 'cos the notes have more attack and bounce. Also, when there's no drummer, the band should really work on dynamics to help with the light & shade.
