1.
Hey Wot, did you have the JO flats you used here anyway as I've just been looking at the Lakland website and it seems they just sell GHS Precision Flats now. Normal gauge. Shame as I wanted to try the custom JO gauge at some point.
Gah! You're right... I wonder what the story is there? Maybe they're just GHS Precision flats in disguise anyway? I shall find out... I hope they haven't changed. Luckily I have a stockpile...
 2.
I'm confused... (it doesn't take much, I realise!). Is that a Fender, relicked by Limelight or a Limelight J bass with a snidey Fender decal? If it is the latter, isn't that a tiny bit naughty?
It's the latter, and... probably. It's a great bass though, so I'm not going to grumble. FWIW, they have a geet big 'Limelight' scribble and serial number on the back of the headstock, which the previous owner of this bass seems to have removed. If it were mine, I'd have left it on there. Also, I have no idea what's under the pickguard or in the neck pocket. Maybe there's something else under there.
 3.
That assumes you think the band were great, I didn't.
Of course - I was just outlining how I personally define 'great'.
 4. Would another bass player have made the songs better than they are? IMO no. He got it exactly right - that's what makes him a great bass player. Not because his lines leap out of the speakers and slap you in the face.
 5. Just in case we forget why we're here....
 6.
Perhaps they are aware of it but are prepared to accept it, giving that Clapton along with other English artists helped to bring blues to a larger (white audience). It still does not reduce the cringe factor though.
I doubt Willie Weeks, and Nathan East are short of a gig, but they seem to be happy to play with him.
 7.
Wonder if they'd be as happy if they knew of his sentiments ?
I'm sure they are aware of it - the event concerned isn't exactly hidden under a rug.
 8. The band were very lucky to have him. He gave them an R'n'B / soul grounding that forms an essential part of the Queen mix. They could have easily had a Chris Squire or someone like that, and that would have been a shame.
 9.
Seemingly when later challenged about his remarks, he refused to take them back.
Have you got a source for that?
 10.
That's how I interpreted the report.
Plus, we have no idea what was going on in his IEMs. It could have been something unbearable.
 11. I've heard mixed reports about the Glasgow thing. Some people and press saying he stormed off and curtailed his set. Others say that the set was the standard length, apart from 'Call Me the Breeze' being chopped 'cos of sound issues, otherwise the set was the usual length.
 12.
Antigua is an abomination and should be eradicated from the face of the Earth!!
I jest of course. Tort on Antigua - y'know when you pick your nose after a nosebleed? Just sayin'.
 13.
No, no, no, no, no! Tort and Fiesta is an abomination! Fiesta is an abomination! Don't be fooled by the name - it's actually a form of pink, and therefore is utterly gay and unmanly. I'm very sorry, but I can't allow it. If in doubt, sing this easy-to-remember rhyme to the tune of 'Humpty Dumpty': Torty, Torty, all right on white! Torty, Torty, all right on white! It's all right on sun-burst as well! Any o-ther col-our is hell!
But you have to admit, it looks pretty cool on Antigua.
 14. ...and Fiesta Red. :-)
 15. Is this the first Dimension FS on BC? GLWTS...
 16. Yep - No chance of tort if I got with anything other than blonde or oly. Otherwise, white-ish all the way. A lightly relic'd version of this is doing it for me at the moment, though...
 17.
Um... may I suggest aged Olympic white with a three-ply black pickguard, circa mid-70s..?
Close... tort is a possibility. But so is LPB. I'm just not sure...
 18.
Once I've sorted my (6 string) guitar situation out I might take a look at these.
Yeah.. I'm seriously considering a maple-neck P. Just not sure what colour...
 19.
Seriously though, if it's common make of bass odds are somewhere online will be weight. Or someone on BC might have one... They might be so kind as to weigh theirs
Cheers, but I think you need to read the thread :-)
 20.
Also seems that out of all of Queen he was the most 'gentlemanly' of the lot.
History tells us he's also the embodiment of the phrase 'it's always the quiet ones.'.
 21. I've no info, but I always liked the look of these. Interested to hear how you get on with it.
 22.
Ah I didn;t realise you'd already asked him about it.... Thinking about it, as he buys the necks in I doubt anyone is making dot and bound necks?
I'm not sure if D'n'B is possible, but I asked him recently about a block'n'bound P neck. He said he could do a J but not a P, but it would be expensive.
 23. That reminds me, I posted a link to this bass on the Classic and Cool website earlier. Only, on closer inspection, it isn't this bass. The relic'ing is different. I'll email Mark and ask him for some info about it.
 24. Hey Gareth I can't compare it to a real '63 J 'cos I've never played one for any great length, but: Swapping between it and my early 70s P's, and from memory my (now sold) early 70s J's, nothing about it feels 'repro'. It just nails the warm, lived-in vintage vibe perfectly. I've been holding out for an early 70s maple-board P, but I'm 100% convinced something from Limelight will quench the GAS, at my exact spec, at a fraction of the price.
 25.
I wonder how this chap and similar builders get away with using the Fender logo on the headstock, though? Presumably it's because the neck is an official Fender-licensed part?
I wonder the same thing myself. I hope they never pick up on it...
