  1. I'm assuming this is along the lines of TC's nonsense power ratings?
  2. After buying - and returning - quite a few recently, I settled on this GEWA premium bag, which was only 40 quid: https://www.thomann.de/gb/gewa_bass_guitar_gigbag_premium_20.htm Very well made, lots of padding, loads of room for cables and that, and not too bulky. Recommended.
  3. Nice one, Martin. Looking forward to seeing & hearing this 🙂
  4. My goodness - Neil Murray is posh, isn't he?
  5. A Maruszczyk Jake with a fat bridge humbucker (lots to choose from, and associated electronics) would get you in that territory, I reckon.
  6. *GRUMPY OLD BLOKE ALERT* Here's an episode of Saturday morning TV staple Tiswas, from 1981. Guests include Sting and Genesis. Amongst the chaos, Sting chats about The Troubles in Northern Ireland, whether fans will accept his political content, and how his acting career fits in with The Police. Genesis - with toddlers on their laps - chat about the studio they built, how self-producing has changed their sound, the introduction of Vari*lites into their stage show, and the impact of Phil's solo career on how Genesis write. The presenter even mentions that Phil has been working with John Martyn. This stuff was fed to almost all of the kids back then. Nowadays they have to find it, which (IMO) is a real shame.
  7. To be fair to the OP, if you just want to capture what you've been up to without too much fuss, just go down the Zoom etc. route.
  8. Headstock footage is a novelty for about 10 seconds, then it gets tedious. If you’re on a budget, you’re best off borrowing a couple of GoPros (you’ll need to source audio elsewhere) or the aforementioned Zooms and placing them around the stage. That’s a much more effective way of capturing the event.
  9. Run, don’t walk, to Dave Wilson in Hexham. There is no-one better. PM me for his details.
  10. I kind-of have a theory that once consumer Class D first came out and was touted as the greatest thing ever, and the manufacturers dropped AB like a stone, it was always going to be difficult / impossible for their marketing departments to admit further down the line that ‘With hindsight, Class AB does deliver an experience a bit more pleasing to some after all…’. Thankfully, despite what the marketing departments say, class AB ≠ heavy, so it’s no skin off my nose.
  11. Quite. And of course, this works both ways.
  12. Just had a look at the website. I'm sure that Marco fella is a pleasant enough chap in real life, but... he's coming across as a bit creepy. I like how the the blurb for each of the new cabinets ends with: MODERN CLASSIC WINNING AESTHETIC Considered by all as the most beautiful cabinet on the market! All? They certainly didn't ask me. Also, I do wonder how wise it is to have almost-the-same-but-not-quite variations of each cab? History tells us people don't like choices like that.
  13. I just skipped through this. OMG.
  14. Interesting one for us last night. A do in a big club room about an hour's drive away. PA was provided - they asked for, and we sent, a full spec. I brought my little cab 'cos I knew the hump was going to be a pain, and the PA would take care of FOH. We got to the venue to find the most tin-pot PA in place. PA guy (pointing at the stage box): 'There's your ins for the desk'. Us: 'Err....' PA guy: 'You do have XLRs with you, don't you?' Us: 'No. You're doing the PA. Not us.' Eventually we cobble something together, during which it becomes apparent there are no channels / mics available to put the drums or bass through the PA. Ah, well. At some point, I ask when the monitors are arriving. PA guy: 'No monitors. Sorry.' So, the theme of the day was to keep the volume down.. basically 'cos we had no choice. And it actually worked out OK in the end. Incidentally, situations like this are one of the reasons I don't fancy going down the IEM route. At least I had something with me.
  15. It works for Sean Hurley… https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=sean+hurley+charcoal+frost&client=safari&hl=en-gb&prmd=sinv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjA5oTzvMr4AhUUSkEAHZjaCwUQ_AUoAnoECAIQAg&biw=414&bih=719&dpr=3
  16. Which is kinda amazing when you think that 99.9999999% of songwriters would kill to be responsible for a setlist like that.
  17. Ha.. no. They’ve had bad BVs forever.
  18. Sam F. played a blinder. I'm a HUGE Crowded House fan, and they were great, but it always puzzles me why someone with ears like Neil Finn is content to tolerate BVs like that over the years.
  19. Wow. I hope you kept the receipt…
  20. Please don’t tell me the one on the right was 100 quid…???
  21. I had a chat with Leszek about all and sundry for the first time in a while today, and asked him what the crack was re: production. 'For those who are waiting for my amplifiers, I ask for just a little bit of patience. Completely new amplifiers are being created from the electronic side, which is why the wait is so long.' He sent me a couple of teaser pics, too:
