1. I hope he's managed to get rid of the nibbling rodents from his workshop...
 2.
Having spoken to a chap who works for Fender last night, apparently the corporate plan is to "integrate the Genz technology into a new range of Fender amps." How well that'll work remains to be seen.
If they've got any sense, they'll just rebadge 'em. They'll be on to a winner.
 3. ... is this. Discuss. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAbD1Sd-zs4
 4. It went to me after cd_David, I think. No idea where it went after that...
 5. Just sold a bass to Chris - the transaction was thoroughly pleasant, as you'd expect from such an established BC'er. Pleasure doin' business!
 6.
Fair point. I still find it odd that people can quote the individual weight of basses they have/had...
Probably because finding out the weight of a bass *after* you've bought it is a bit too late.
 7.
Is there a reason why people prefer light basses other than having shoulder pain from a heavy instrument?
The prevention of it?
 8. I had a chance of 'making it' in my early 20s. As is often the case, it didn't come to anything. Since then, there haven't been any opportunities for me to work in music full-time whilst playing the kind of music I want to play, so... I haven't.
 9. "Here man.. what are yaz airl gannin' on aboot? Wharraloada bollicks!"
 10.
...and that makes it right. OK, then.
Reality can be a harsh mistress.
 11.
It's perhaps just as well that truck drivers, spot welders and sundry other industries have not (yet..?) cottoned on to 'earning' a life-long revenue for work already achieved and paid for.
Amount of people who will pay a truck driver to do a journey he's already done and been paid for: 0 Amount of people willing to pay to hear 'Every breath You Take' multiple times: Lots
 12.
The Police were 100% Gordon Sumner, and the other two might as well be just hired hands. Anyway they just got paid a shitload of cash for their recent tour (net revenue $340 million), so hopefully they'll be able to afford their own Italian castles now.
I disagree. Copeland and Summers' styles are too distinctive.
 13. That's the thing, you see. There are MILLIONS of songs out there, a huge chunk of which you can listen to for free. And a huge chunk of those are probably not very good. If you want Every Breath You Take, it's going to cost you. Why? Because people rate it so highly they're willing to pay for it. A mechanic fixes a car, and gets his hourly rate. He could charge a fee every time the car is driven subsequently, but his customers would go to somewhere else and he'd go out of business.
 14.
... or a designer a cut, every time someone sits on a chair he/she designed..?
If the design of the chair is unique, and has feature that no other chair can offer, then I imagine they could keep it to themselves and charge what they like.
 15.
So should an artist get a cut of the entrance money from everyone who comes to see an exhibition of their work at a gallery?
I dunno how it works - does an artist not get paid when their work is displayed?
 16. Ont he subject of Talking Heads, I nominate this marvellous piece of minimalism: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StoXNhrT_7M (Sorry about the crappy version. YouTube have pulled the decent ones)
 17. Lovely. That's a very heavy sunburst, isn't it?
 18. This thread is another worrying indication that music isn't worth anything anymore.
 19.
As I understand it, PAT testing is only about rudimentary earthing and physical cable condition. It's perfectly possible for PAT testing to pass a piece of equipment that is so poorly designed that it would burst into flames within five minutes of being turned on.
Yip. It's a bureaucratic box-ticking exercise being exploited by some to squeeze a few quid out of people who don't know any better.
 20.
Ah thanks - now I think I understand. The poster wanted to appear funny by regurgitating said folklore? CB
Ah, loosen up, man. Just because you didn't find it was funny, doesn't mean other people didn't.
 21.
And surely the number of components is the least relevant concern to most of us when buying an amp, or anything else for that matter. Unless of course the afore mentioned axe grinding comes into play.
I disagree. I think it added to the cynical way it was marketed. ("You want your top-end back? £200, please!'). Like I say, I don't think they did themselves any favours. Disappointing for a brand as strong as TC.
 22.
Dedicated compressor control - no longer hidden in the shift layer More power (obviously) Improved top end without the build in LPF.
I know about the features, but I was asking about what, physically, you're paying for. Surely it shouldn't cost more money to remove an LPF?
