1. That's brilliant. I feel mean for criticising it, but I'd gripe that there wasn't a proper P-bass noise in there anywhere. That polite J-honk sounded hopless.
2. Lovely! I'm actually toying with the idea of getting an S212 and letting one of my S112s go. Modular is great, but I also like the idea of smaller cab and bigger cab... I dunno. In other news - I went to a jam night last night, and brought my Walkabout and a single S112 for the house rig. I played a bit, but it was a great opportunity to sit out front during a blues trio set and hear how it sounds to the audience. The other bass player used a Sadowsky Metro with rounds. Fab... the lows were strong and tight. I'd ramped up the highs a bit on the WA to compensate for the lack of a tweet. The top-end was smooth, and growled when he dug in. Nice and clear. I was pretty amazed tbh, as was he. And when I asked him to pick it up at the end of the night...
3.
I'm only vaguely curious about this, I reckon I'm all 'Rush live albummed out'.
Me too. I've just watched a big chunk of the Blu Ray and I'm a bit... 'meh'.
4. Anyone seen or heard it yet? I'll be watching the Blu-Ray tonight. I've heard that the CD mix is awful - the clips I've heard online seem to back that up. Hopefully the Blu-Ray will be better. Hopefully.
5. I can't remember the last time I watched or listened to any of Neil's solos outside of a gig. They're just too self-indulgent now...
6. WTF = well tight-fisted.
7. Thanks for all your responses re: above - it might be that a they go around a few BC'ers to give plenty of people a chance to give them a run out. If anyone else would like to get involved, let me know and I'll send the details to Tommy.
8. Didn;t have time to make one. Bought one. Well worth it.
9. I know RNBMAN very well - He's a top chap. and I can vouch for him 100%. Good luck with the sale, Mr. S.!
10.
No point arguing about it. It would seem a common sense approach is too labour intensive - perhaps I don't understand the moderators roll fully. Surely if a moderator has teeth there's nothing to fix?
Ah, OK. The quick answer is that it's too time-consuming.
11.
What's so hard to understand? The way the moderators assume people use the wanted section isn't how I, or it would seem quite a few people, use it.
You realise I could ask you the same question..? It's not how I use it either. But it's been noted, and it'll be fixed at some point. If it ruins your BC experience, that's a shame. But I don't think it does.
12.
Wrong. The wanted section has changed. Keep up sir!
Do you have to pay to place a wanted ad?
13.
Not the way I used to...
I know. Frustrating, isn't it? Thanks for bearing with it, though. It'll be resolved at some point.
14.
So that's not actually floating!
Well, it's a strange thing... it is and it isn't. It slides around as I play - doesn't stay in one spot, and I only do it for the split second I'm on the low E...
15.
To use the marketplace.
And... can you use the marketplace?
16.
so when playing on the E do you push against the body with your thumb/hand for a bit of stability, lightly press, or literally hover without touching the bass?
I had to go and try it, 'cos I couldn't recall... I brace the top-end of my thumbnail against the pickguard / body.
17.
That's as may be, but as I'm paid up I don't like being told "we're doing this for your good" when I don't see it that way, or necessarily agree. Not in my name you don't!
Paid up to do what, exactly?
18. C'mon... we all know there are parts of BC that need attention. The 'wanted' thing narks me a bit too. As does other stuff - I've been whingeing about the notifications problem since the dawn of time. The owners (and Mods) are aware of - and understand - all the gripes, believe me. The fact is it costs money and takes time to fix, and there's a list that has to be worked through. And let's be honest - none of these problems is anything other than 'slightly irritating'. It's a great forum.
19. [Edit - just read the OP properly. This is probably a bit too mainstream] Late 60's Aretha. Tommy Cogbill, Jerry Jemmott....
20.
do we have any HOT MODS?? pics please
Soon... we're all a bit exhausted at the moment.
21. The named parties are who you should contact in the first instance if you need some HOT MOD ACTION.
22. I've just had a chat with Tommy and he'd quite like to get a different selection of cabs - which include all the recent upgrades - out for trial in the south of the country. If anyone - preferably based in the SE with a decent history on Basschat - would like to volunteer to be custodian of the cabs during the trial (including a 2x12, hopefully!), drop me a PM and I'll pass your details on. Obviously, Tommy pays the shipping from Sweden to the UK and back. You need to be fairly central so people can get to you to collect and drop-off, and you need a little bit of room to store them the rest of the time, but it does mean you get a lovely selection of cabs to choose from for a while. :-)
23. Playing a guitar solo generally results in girls running *towards* you.
