1.
GAS is an extremely cruel mistress, but she must obeyed in order to avoid having an aneurism (at least that's my excuse). What are you gassing for?
I'm quite open, to be honest. I fancy an nice old maple-necked P (I miss my old '72). Maybe.. GASP... something Oly white. Or maybe... GASP... a PJ. Or, EVEN BIGGER GASP... something not Fender. I dunno, but that's half the fun, isn't it?
2. Yeah - you're absolutely right. Truth is, I have a three-bass limit. My 71P's can't go anywhere - it's enshrined in my constitution. So the RB stands between me and that terrible affliction known as GAS. At the moment, GAS is winning.
3. It's back up for sale. Here's a vid of me using it last week... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRZt8AeR974
4. Dark Lord - before you go, would you answer my earlier question, please? I think it's important to put your views into context. Thank you.
Dark Lord - have you seen / used any of the current range of cabs?
5. David Crosby's 1971 solo album 'If I Coild Only Remember My Name' is beautifully recorded. Also, a lot of Buddy Holly's stuff sounds like it could have been recorded yesterday.
6. I just wish they'd add more colours. That 'burst is... meh.
7. Dark Lord - have you seen / used any of the current range of cabs?
8. I'd like to give one a run out, too...
9. I feel your pain. There's no reason a band needs to be stupidly loud unless it's SUNN O))) or something like that. The thing is, if they tried playing at a reasonable volume, they'd probably like it. Strangely, most of the bands I play in that suffer from this problem do it because they're all deaf. Because they play too loud.
10. Yep, as far as I'm aware...
11. Cheers, folks :-)
12. Couple of seconds on Google... http://www.youtube.com/user/wonga
13.
It's far easier to look at 1 thread containing 500 posts about XYZ, than to try and track down 500 threads. It's not rocket science.
Yup. I think some people need to lighten up and understand the word 'club' doesn't mean funny handshakes and all that.
14. Doesn't bother me - it makes perfect sense. You're interested in XYZ amp? Head off over to the XYZ owners' club and fill your boots. That's all there is to it.
15. Hey gang Here's a clip from Friday night's gig... http://youtu.be/zRZt8AeR974
16. The Fender Jazz is an iconic instrument. Which means that on a bass forum, you're going to get people who are - in varying degrees - interested in its origins and evolution. And especially when it comes to fairly controversial elements, like Herbie's bass. You're also going to get people who don't give a monkeys. And that's fine. Good on Herbie for letting someone try his bass, btw.
17.
This forum should be renamed anorak chat. I have just been reading the first couple of posts and amazed how quickly an awesome gesture by a liviing legend to a young lad just starting out on his musical journey has been reduced to a slanging match over the exact date and status of an equally legendary instrument. Btw that's the longest sentence I have ever written.
It's called 'Basschat'. Most people are here because they're into basses more than the average Joe on the street.
18. I haven't watched this yet, but I will. And Steve Ferrone is the icing on the cake. http://bcove.me/u724s45k
19.
£1599?. At that price it needs to slaughter the Class D competition.
Using a different module to the ICEpower thing virtually every other Class D uses will be a good start.
20.
Another +1 for the Thomastick flats. Bear in mind that these are one of the lowest tension flats out there. This puts a lot of people off of them. AFAIK, the Labellas are at the other end of the tension spectrum.
That'd be the Chromes. The La Bellas are sort-of medium.
21. I'm not sure they exist any more. The website was offline last time I checked...
22. The buffered J pup is pretty characteristic. I don't know how easy it is to replicate...
23. I binned tweeters a while ago when I got my TKS112s. The driver deals with the highs now, and it's a beautiful roll-off.
24.
Hmmmm not on the Autistic spectrum at all then?
Oh - and feet and handles. (but the badge is WORST OF ALL!)
25.
Vertical config... tip it on it's side you mean.
But... But.... The badge will be WONKY!!
