1. The rat fur on my Bergantinos always looked tidy, 'cos I looked after them. Mind you... Having an anonymous black box behind you that sounds great is one thing. Having a beautiful looking cab behind you that sounds great is even better.
2.
And for anyone who plays with a PA and uses a DI, your cab is about as important as the 'tone' a 9v battery gives you over a new fan dangled power supply.
Nonsense.
3.
This would be relevant if you could buy a new 1961 Fender Jazz in 2013...
I'm fairly certain it was meant in jest...
4.
Tort or black plate ? Not easy to see
You need to turn the brightness up on your monitor. :-) Tort.
5.
Here's my guess: Listening to one brand against another in isolation (possibly in a shop) is no way indicative of how those cabs are going to sound at a gig in a band situation and at battle levels
Absolutely. A bass cab is only any use to me when it's in a mix. I try and reserve final judgement on them until I've tried them in a few different live situations.
6. Another FWIW... I adore Bergantino. Beautiful cabs. I used HS210s for a number of years, then HT112/ER stack, and then to the TKS. The TKS felt like home. Sold the Bergs. Never regretted it.
7. FWIW, I've gigged a Compact, a Vintage and a ceramic prototype that probably isn't going into production. Enjoyed all of 'em.
8.
I'd strongly recommend looking at TKS cabs. My personal experience is they have far more thicker, fuller and beefier bottoms end. Not to mention cheaper if you go for the ceramic ones. The build quality is outstanding as well and their range is more an options list and you build your cabs from that. WoT has 2 and loves them, like I say, from personal experience the tks wipes the floor with many other 112's. If not all! Dan
Yip - absolutely worth a look. More here.
9. To answer the question... I'm as likely to repeatedly listen to the clip in the OP as I am to a Victor Wooten solo performance.
10. Here's an existing thread.

12. They're marvellous. One of my favourite bands. http://spikedrivers.co.uk/
13. These do look lovely. My only whinge is that violin burst is such a weak colour... give us a nice 3TSB or cherryburst!
14. Here's a PBass, tuned BEAD with (as far as I'm aware) an old stock P pickup. She gets a consistently great tone live and on recordings. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfjtK4Mnrg8
15. *holds hand up* Sorry Pete - forgot to PM you. I merged it, and put an explanation in the merged thread.
16. I've merged a few more Dimension threads with this main thread to keep it all together... I hope everyone's cool with this.
17. Ooh - they've had some some very interesting stuff in...
18.
Here is the new TKS-cab among its new friends... This setup sounds very good. Eden WP100 Navigator into a QSC PLX-3402 and then to the new TKS-cab, with the new model name 2126; without an initial letter. The 1100 Watts RMS at 4 ohms per side works well with the specification of the cab, giving each cab some real 1100 Watts of power to push a heavy load... It is a bit annoying having two 2U SKB-rack of different models and then realize they are not stackable. Really stupid, SKB! That's why there is a cushion from a chair between the racks. Tommy will build me a matching 5U rack to accomodate the power amp, the preamp and a rack tuner. It will have the same visual appearance as the cabs, ie. black box and crème coloured lids. It should look ravishing... Well, now just wait for the twin cab...
19. I'm in London Towne then, I'm afraid! Could have fancied it otherwise...
20. A great band with great tunes. If you're in the area, don't miss it....
21.
Thanks for the reminder WoT, great minds etc. I remember web comment on that anomaly, Nodd
Glad you're sorted! There ain't nothin' like a Walkabout...
22. FWIW, it looks like a perc set-up to me - they've had perc since the 80s.
23. Drums or perc? That is the question.
