1.
These cabs are seriously sexy! anyideas which one would do the 'ampeg b-15' sound most easily when paired with an ashdown lb30 head?
I haven't used the LB30, so I can only speak from my experience, but my Walkabout through my standard ceramic 112 gives me what I consider to be a great (edited to say beautiful) Stax-y tone and feel. The tweeterless top is biting without being sizzly, and the small box size gives it a real plummy low-mid roundness. The ceramic version is pretty sensitive too.
 2.
Just saw that on facebook, are you the lucky owner?
Alas not. I think Bassmayhem mentioned he had ordered one earlier in the thread...?
 3. Ooof.
 4.
That's above RRP in the UK, although not much. RRP is £1,599 so it should be able to get one for less from a UK dealer. I'd estimate a UK dealer could sell for £1,500 if he wanted to. I will get some price updates though because these prices are maybe 6 months old now.
Ah, OK. I thought Mesa ruled their pricing with an iron fist...?
 5. Do you like the sound of the bass as it is? Crack on as you were. Do you think it sounds too dull? Need more zing? Change 'em.
 6.
That's part of the problem when there's an independent distributor involved in the supply chain. Good (or at least better) for product availability but is going to add anywhere from 10% - 25% to prices to cover their margin This is just about to happen to another major US bass brand in the next few weeks as well. . . Edit - I don't think distributor margins are excessive given costs of storage and other overheads. Let's face it, you never meet a rich musical instruments distributor!
Hmmmm. Here's an example. Mesa Walkabout Scout 12: US: $1600 UK: $2800 (i.e.£1750 from Thomann) That's £1000 mark-up. Even when you take into account shipping it across the Atlantic, taxes, etc.. something's wrong there.
 7.
I'm seeing the UK distributor on Thursday mornng - will be able to report back on details of pricing and availability after that
When you do, can you give him a gentle(ish) slap and say 'That's from WoT in protest at your EU pricing policy', please?
 8. TKS Engineering is worth a look. The link is to a long thread, with lots of info. One guy at the bash who runs a Terror 500 took the 15" away with him for a few days, and was knocked out by it. Very lightweight.
 9.
looks like he DI and miked you up,,, proper..
Oh, aye - these guys don't mess around. It was filmed for a DVD too, so they'll want to have all bases covered.
 10. I've just had a visit from someone who's taking the 15" away for a few days. I had it set up in the living room with my pair of 12s alongside, and the patio door open. We had half an hour's natter and play through the cabs. They all sounded great. I'm sure he'll drop by to share his thoughts when he's spent a bit of time with the 15".
 11.
What a great gig to play. Can't make out the faces from the pic, who was there from the cast?
Just Tim Healy and Kevin Whately, along with Melanie Hill, Julia Tobin and Lesley Saint John from the cast, and Ian La Frenais, Dick Clement and Franc Roddam. The rest of the surviving cast had done intereviews that were on VT.. It was fantastic.
that's pretty cool wateroftyne,,, we drove from Scunthorpe to Edinburgh, played the Playhouse and drove all the way back,, some bright spark shut the A1 at Berwick and suffered a bloody de tour,,have never been so happy to see Newcastle, almost felt like we were nearly home.
Ouch! I can imagine the detour was a bit nasty..
 12. Last night's gig was at the Auf Wiedersehen Pet 30th Anniversary celebration at The Hilton in Gateshead. If - like me - you're a lifelong fan of the show, you know how good the songs are.. and I got to play 'em. :-) It was a big room, 450-ish people, with a lovely PA. I only needed to take a single TKS 112 cab. It filled the stage nicely, and the PA did the rest.
 13.
Looks great. I was thinking the white/creme tolex would be a concern to keep in good nick as the main colour, but it looks so cool, all those concerns are out of the window.... I am just waiting to see a few more pics of the cover option on FB or the website to see how the work and then I think I am in. Also, it is unclear if the 1126 can have a horn as well as the 6"... or instead of but since I'll probably use two at some point, I can probably go one in one config and one in the other...???? Still the little things I am musing about. Keep the reviews, thoughts and pics coming.....
Here's a list of some of the vinyl you can get. Again, from the looks of the website, you can add a tweeter to the 1126. The highs are glorious through the 6", mind...!
 14.
Nice looking set up. What model of bass is that? What's the purple do dah on top of your lovely head? Nice photo.
Hello! Thank you The bass is a Fender Roscoe Beck IV, and the purple do dah is a DI box.
 15. I used the Neo 112 at last night's gig. It sounded bloody great! So round and punchy. The notes were even right across the board. And it's 8kgs. Crazy.
 16.
Really impressed. I've been testing it with my Big Al 5 in passive, then in active and trying a LOT of bass boost and it just doesn't flinch....at all. A heck of a lot of volume, punch and tone from a little light box. I tried some music through it and the more dance orientated sub bass stuff or heavier music sound excellent. I haven't really missed the tweeter plus my bass strings are a little old. It is EXCELLENT for plec/lots of tube grind....just sounds effortless for that. I couldn't believe such a little box could kick that much bass.
Glad you like it! I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of it at the rehearsal....
 17.
See? This is where BC is for losers while YouTube is for winners. If we had had any quality at all, WoT's trip to you would've been a vid upload by now!!
Ha ha.. the batteries were flat on my camera. :-) Before I dropped the 1126 with MM20, I'd A/B'd it all day in a rehearsal along with the 8kg Neo 112. The 1126 really is a huge sound... wide and open. The detail really comes through with that 6". As Mr. Pietruszka noted earlier, every note is even. The 112 as an incredible amount of authority for such a small box. It's obviously 'rounder' sounding as it has no tweeter.with tighter lows. It's a classic P-with-flats cab, and instantly gives me 'my' sound. I have a gig in a big hall tonight, but we have full PA support so the helium-filled 112 is coming with me...
 18. It's nice that they've come up with something Roscoe Beck-ish. They did that very well.
 19.
Best bit - for me was Jimmy Nail's expressions around 3:10 >
^^^^ Me pal Peter Tickell on the fiddle. Livin' the dream, the lucky duck.
 20.
It also means the transients are very definitely curtailed, and that is something you may be able to feel. I can honestly say the TC stack sounds really loud, possibly louder than my rig in fact.
This was the problem I had with it. It was loud, but then so is my 7-year-old daughter. It was a dynamic wasteland.
I prefer to judge an amp by the way it sounds and the features it has, rather than some arbitrary value like its (supposed or otherwise) power output.
That's the right way to do it of course, but IMO there is question around whether it's reasonable to advertise it as such, without being open about how the figure is arrived at.
 21.
Now your making stuff up. The unit wasn't fixed under warranty, I had to pay for the parts and the labour. Same as anyone else whose unit is no longer under the warranty period.
Oh, OK. That's different. You should have said earlier...
