Fender 2013 Japan Limited Edition '66 Jazz Bass
wateroftyne replied to DanEly's topic in Bass Guitars
Yip - collate a feature list of what makes the '66 unique and desireable, and then scribble most of it out. Those crazy Japanese. -
I got it as import due it being about 200 pounds cheaper, but neglected to change the voltage selector when turning it on, lots of fire, lots of smoke, then dirty wet patches everywhere.
I don't want to sound mean, but a ) you didn't buy it in the UK and b ) it was your own fault. Maybe they should have been quicker, but... y'know...

Fender 2013 Japan Limited Edition '66 Jazz Bass
wateroftyne replied to DanEly's topic in Bass Guitars
I'm sure they're lovely basses, but pointless as a 66 without lollipops, dots and binding IMO. -
There's a clip in this thread somewhere of FarOn slapping through the 1126 - it's as clear and as punchy as hell. That's should give you an idea...
It seems odd in that, as far as I'm concerned, the GB brand holds a lot more credibility than that of Fender as an innovative, forward thinking amp maker. Why not use that to their advantage?
At a guess? An amp with Genz Benz innards and 'Fender' written on the front is more valuable to the Fender brand than if it had a name only recognisable to bassists.

Tommy's just posted this on the TKS Facebook page. I hope he doesn't mind if I c&p it here.... Many are wondering what the complete product range will be after the update, so here's a list with basic specifications and preliminary prices in SEK (prices in £/GBP is slightly less than 1/10 of the price in SEK, a S112 for 2900 SEK will be about £275). Prices are for standard cabinets: black vinyl, black metal grille (as pictured above) no tweeter. Optional extras are: Tweeter (with attenuator): 750 SEK. Grille cloth + vinyl frame: 500 SEK for small cabinets, 800 SEK for large cabinets. Custom vinyl (other colours/patterns than the standard black): 200-800 SEK depending on colour and cabinet size.
Thanks for the dimensions.... I may want to run one with a DB750... so if I need/want that power, then 2 would the requirement. On some stages I do, I need to factor in a loud stage sound where the soundman 'forgets' to put bass in the monitors.
Based on my experience with one of 'em, two of them would be MAHOOSIVE. I've got rehearsals this week for a gig this weekend. I think I'll give the 1126 a run out.
Hi I've just spotted your add. I am a 27 (nearly 28 year old bassist) with BVs looking for Middle East work. My other half lives in Qatar but is relocating to Dubai so I would be very interested in any long term contracts you have. I do sing BVs and have over 15 years of gigging experience. Doing touring theatre shows, cruise ships Middle East hotels and all the rest. Available November the 6th, please feel free to have a look at my website www.mikeyreed.com or get in touch to my email if you need any more info. Thank you
Responding to the ad would be more useful, I think..?
Not got a problem with a larger cab that can use a 6" and a horn... I don't use mini heads so something a rack can sit on sounds fine. 30-40lbs is fine as well.
All the cabs are available in vertical or horizontal configuration.. I went for vertical to make my Walkabout look less tiny. :-)
Can't seem to find Dims very easily, but the 1126 seems about right for me.
According to the website, the current 1126 is 52cm W x 42cm H x 44cm D. The new revision seems to be around that - I'll measure it tonight. And, as Mr. Pietruszka mentioned, if anyone is around the Newcastle area and would like to try one out, let me know. As long as you look after it, and I know where you are so I can hunt you down if you try and pinch it, that's fine.
Oh I need to try these! I'm temporarily without a car so I should have gone to the bass bash.
Are you still in Gateshead?
-
My 12s growl in the mids like a bugger when I dig in, in a way I never got with the Bergs. The 1126 seemed to have even more on tap, and as they're a bigger box (Aggie DB size) they'll go louder and lower too. TKS also do a larger 12" without the 6", with an optional tweeter. I'd like to hear that.

I don't think it's really 1600w. http://www.tcelectro..._management.pdf

I think Bassman7755's comment was made in jest, in response to a post waaaaay back in the thread before anyone knew they were TKS cabs. There's nothing 'Barefaced clone' about these, any more than Barefaced, Bergantino, Aguilar etc. are clones of each other.
never mind the rig... that bass! mmmm
I hope her new owner is giving her the love she deserves.. :-(
Newly restored cab for my "smaller" (ooooh me back) rig
Beautiful. And you are Iron Man.

T
Apparently its production is being moved to China.
To be fair, I don't think Genz production has been in the US for a while now.

Confirmation trickling down though dealers on TB that Fender have finally shot Genz Benz in the head. The writing was on the wall since they bought them, really... What a shame. They were a great brand.

Assuming you can find your way to Heathrow, this should help you.

Can't believe I haven't posted mine here yet... MESA Walkabout, 2 x 112 cabs from TKS Engineering.

Next time we'll have name badges, I think... schoolboy error on my part.

I did a couple of gigs with my '71 fretless P through a Vintage and it was glorious... I imagine this is, too.
Sadly this was me at a gig recently....
Epic. Is this where you get your BC handle from?
