  1. Thread from the dead. I installed one in my '71 P yesterday (original pickup has been rewound, and lacked... something). Installation was relatively straightforward. I had to file the pickup lugs a bit to fit them through the pickguard, but apart from that it was plain sailing. Tone-wise... night and day. Very clear, very defined. I'll know more once I've gigged it.

  3. In the nicest possible way, I think most of the people following this thread are probably wishing you'd follow your own advice ^^^^
  4. Yep, everyone needs a Paddington.
  5. Last night's set-up. Same as it's been for years.
  6. My chambered Jake’s were / are around 7.2lbs… They balance perfectly, but I did spec Hipshot Ultralites.
  7. Handbox R-400. Same sort of vibe, but more 'immediate'.
  8. There was a time when guitar shops were also a place just to hang around. I can't imagine how much popular music has been influenced by people hanging out on Denmark Street, for example.
  9. When I was a young pup, I got a gig with a band who I was a long-time fan of. Knew the songs inside-out already, so I was clearly going to nail it. After the first song, the drummer politely says 'that was nice, but can you play about half the notes next time?' OK... I can do that. Another run through. 'Better. Now play half of what you just played.' And he was right.
  10. Wrongly. I was just quoting you..! I was just genuinely curious as to why it would annoy you.
  11. It wasn't intended to be. If you could point out the bitchy bit, I'd be grateful.
  12. Apologies - I thought this was a discussion forum.
  13. I feel the same. The ad should be corrected, but I wouldn’t say it’s something to get annoyed about. Even the Sunburst example I had looked like alder.
  14. Here’s an exclusive look at the brief for these new Fenders:
  15. Both GHS sets gone - only the Joe Osborns remaining.
  16. Stinks of top-quality scam.
  17. I'll be on about 90 by the time the year is out. I don't like sitting around the house much 😄
  18. HOLY THREAD REVIVAL! The DVD is out soon. Here's a trailer.
  19. Felt the same way when I saw him in Newcastle in 2002. Not even his great band (including Jim Keltner) could save it.
  20. Strange how they lack so much cred, yet they're key to a big chunk of Eminem's success.
  21. One set of GHS Precision Flats sold. Other two sets remaining.
