Thread from the dead. I installed one in my '71 P yesterday (original pickup has been rewound, and lacked... something). Installation was relatively straightforward. I had to file the pickup lugs a bit to fit them through the pickguard, but apart from that it was plain sailing. Tone-wise... night and day. Very clear, very defined. I'll know more once I've gigged it.

I feel the same. The ad should be corrected, but I wouldn’t say it’s something to get annoyed about. Even the Sunburst example I had looked like alder.
